Race 1: Route 66 BM 65 Handicap- 1300 metres
1st – A DEPENDANT 2nd – SIR STANLEY 3rd – POWER TO EXCEED 4th- FICKLE BUSINESS

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Jockey S McGovern viewed the patrol film with the intention to lodge an objection against SIR STANLEY over alleged interference from leaving the 200m. After doing so, Jockey McGovern lodged an objection. On hearing evidence from the relevant parties, Stewards established that leaving the 200m, FICKLE BUSINESS had not yet obtained a narrow run between SIR STANLEY and BOMBER (R. Mules). A short distance after POWER TO EXCEED (D Evans) rolled out marginally, which caused SIR STANLEY to shift out slightly and when BOMBER has rolled in marginally, FICKLE BUSINESS was hampered and eased to obtain a run to the inside of SIR STANLEY. As Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that SIR STANLEY had materially contributed to the incident, the objection was dismissed and correct weight declared.

NORDIC WARRIOR (App K Aho) was slow to begin.

BLAKTAR (C. Spry) and FICKLE BUSINESS (S. McGovern) made contact on jumping.

BOMBER (R. Mules) and A DEPENDANT (T. O’Hara) raced wide throughout.

Following this race, Jockey R Mules was stood down by the ambulance officers due to muscle complaint in his neck. Jockey Mules was advised that a medical certificate will be required prior to his next riding engagements.

Stewards acceded to these requests and permitted Jockey McGovern to ride one kilogram and Jockey Spry two kilograms overweight.
