Race 1: CLIFF TUCKER PLUMBING BenchMark 60 Handicap 1000 METRES
 
BASHAN and DRAGSTER bumped at the start.
ESPRIT LIGHT was slow into stride.
DRAGSTER raced three wide without cover.
Jockey William Bell had a harmless fall from HOWZAT LUCK on pulling up.
 
Race 2: EAT STREET IS BACK IN 2017 QTIS Maiden Plate 1100 METRES
 
ENGAGE THE DUKE was slow to begin. Rider reported saddled slipped approximately 100 metres after the start when breast plate broke.
GUINIGI PRINCE was slow into stride and raced wide throughout.
ROCK ON SKYE jumped out at the start and raced wide throughout without cover.
BAYSIDE BANDIT shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 3: P&J YOUNG CONCRETE & CONSTRUCTION BenchMark 45 Handicap 1100 METRES
 
As Jockey M Barnham was to be overweight stewards permitted Jockey D Evans to be the replacement rider for REGGIE ROCKET. Jockey Barnham was issued with a reprimand.
 
SOUTHERN ALBATROSS was declared a late scratching at 12:30pm by stewards acting on veterinary advice after an inspection found it was lame in the near fore and not fit to race.
 
At the start GUNDY MAGIC lost considerable ground when tightened by SEACITY jumping in and BULLETIN BELLE jumping outwards.
 
CRAIG AND PEDRO - Steadied from the 800 metres to the 700 metres when over racing.
WONGARANDA raced wide throughout.
SEACITY raced wide throughout.
DIVA MISS shifted out and bumped I’m JUST LULU entering the home straight and again near the 200 metres.
 
Jockey S Sheargold pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that he used insufficient effort to prevent GUNDY MAGIC from shifting inwards near the 150 metres when insufficiently clear of ACCEPTING (C McIver), which resulted in that horse clipping heels, blundering and losing considerable ground. Jockey Sheargold’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 12 days, to commence at midnight on 11th February 2017 up to and including 23rd February 2017.
 
BULLETIN BELLE returned to the enclosure with a laceration to the off hind leg and was subsequently treated by the veterinary surgeon. Trainer was advised he must produce a veterinary certificate of soundness before BULLETIN BELLE races again.
 
ACCEPTING was pulled up shortly after the finish and, after undergoing a veterinary inspection, was found to have severe injuries to the off fore leg. After consultation with Trainer and Owner, the horse was euthanise on humane grounds.
 
Race 4: THE IRISH VILLAGE BenchMark 50 Handicap 1300 METRES
 
Race 4 start time was put back to 3:45pm
 
SAMMY SPARROW was slow into stride.
 
Race 5: BECOME A MEMBER TODAY! BenchMark 65 Handicap 1300 METRES
 
Race 5 start time was put back to 4:20pm
 
BIRTHDAY WISHES began unruly and failed to show any early speed.
 
BOSSY BEACH commenced to yield ground from the 200 metres, and on pulling up, was found to be lame in the near fore. BOSSY BEACH was treated by the veterinary surgeon on course. Trainer John Manzelmann stated it was his intention to retire the mare, however stewards advised he must produce a veterinary certificate of soundness if BOSSY BEACH races again.
