Jockey A Butler advised Stewards he was unable to ride due to the transfer of meeting, and Jockey A. Coome reported ill, replacements were made as per the Steward’s summary. Jockey Coome would require a medical certificate prior to his next riding engagements.
 
Stewards allowed some discretion for riders to ride overweight.
 
Race 1:  David Lowery Diesel Repairs Maiden Plate - 1000 metres
 
BLUBYTWO- In preliminary, worked strongly for two laps of the track before being restrained. Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1.20pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared all bets on BLUBYTWO be refunded with deductions of 16c Win and 14c Place to be applied to all successful bets.
 
DANYSUS- Apprentice L Dodds was permitted to claim 2kg over his 3kg claim.
 
NELLY’S NIECE- Stewards permitted Jockey S Sheargold to ride 1/2kg overweight.
 
OUTBACK SURVIVOR- Contacted by ARARRAC and lost ground.
 
Race 2:  Fairbairn Bakery BM 60 Handicap- 1000 metres  
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards viewed the available patrol film of the start. Stewards could not be
 
GIRLS AWAY- Unable to be loaded. Late scratching at 2.05pm. Trainer was advised a further barrier certificate would be required.
 
CAN’T FORGET- When advised that the gelding had a laceration to its off side shoulder, acting on veterinary advice, it was declared a late scratching at 2.05pm.
 
All bets on GIRLS AWAY and CAN’T FORGET were to be refunded with deductions of 44 cents Win and 35 cents Place to be applied to successful bets.
 
DE MESTRE- Slow to begin, began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
OUTBACK PIRATE- Stood flat-footed, lost considerable ground. Trainer advised that a barrier certificate will be required prior to its next race start.
 
DAIQUIRI BELLE- Reluctant to proceed to barriers in preliminary. Once able to do so, worked strongly to the barrier. Underwent a veterinary inspection and cleared to take its place in the field. Stood flat-footed and was slow to begin.
 
SOTTERO- Near the 100 metres, tightened between EXSTRATUM and STYLISH LUCK both of which shifted ground. Apprentice D Graham and L Dodds were both advised to use greater effort to prevent their mounts from shifting ground.
 
Race 3: Route 66 Class B Handicap- 1200 metres

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Apprentice L Dodds and Trainer T Button viewed the patrol film with regard to an incident near the 100 metres. After doing so, no objection was lodged.
 
DRAGONMOSS- Due to no other available rider, S McGovern was permitted to ride 3 kgs overweight.
 
DELANCIA- Began awkwardly.
 
STAR PROSECUTOR- Due to no other available rider, M. Barnham was permitted to ride 3kgs overweight. Contact with another runner at the start and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
BARBOUGE- Jockey S Sheargold was permitted to ride 1kg overweight.
 
SIR CLISBY- Jumped out onto STAR PROSECUTOR and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
GOODNESS GRACIOUS- Raced wide without cover.
 
Near the 100 metres, PLAIN ‘N’ SIMPLE (App Q Krogh) shifted out and took MYSTIC FORCES (App L Dodds) out onto DRAGONMOSS (S. McGovern). App Q Krogh was advised to make a greater effort to prevent his mount from shifting ground.
 
Race 4: Book Your Function at Pioneer Park Open Plate- 1200 metres  
 
No racing incidences.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Trainer G Bell viewed the photo finish for second. After doing so, Ms Bell was satisfied as to the judge’s placing and correct weight was declared.
 
Race 5: XXXX BM 50 Handicap- 1615 metres
 
VIENNA STORM- Slow to begin. Dropped whip inside 100 metres.
 
WESTBURY ROAD- Slow to begin.
 
CLASPED- Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
YOU CAN’T BE- Commenced to yield ground from the 600 metres. With regard to the disappointing performance, apprentice stated she anticipated being able to take cover from the wide barrier, however had to make use of the horse in the early stages and take up a forward position. She also stated that given the weight impost and that the horse is better suited on sand surface, these reason may also have explained the disappointing performance.
