Race 1: WELCOME BACK TO PIONEER PARK BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1300 metres
 
MANILA MISS - Approaching the 1000m commenced to race fiercely as the pace of the race slackened and as a result shifted in abruptly. Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
AREE AL – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 1000m, had to be restrained to avoid the heels of MARTIAL ART, which shifted in when insufficiently clear to do so. Apprentice A Jones, Rider of MARTIAL ART, reminded of her obligations to be clear when she shifts ground in future. Inconvenienced on entering the home straight by MANILA MISS, which Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
BESTERS – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Continued to over race rounding the turn and had to be restrained off heels on a number of occasions. Inconvenienced on entering the home straight by MANILA MISS, which Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
LOUIE THE LEGEND- Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
Following the running of race 1 the track was upgraded to a Good 3.
 
Race 2: THANK YOU LEON ROBERTS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1000 metres
 
HAYYLER'S TARY – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
VERNAZZA – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Laid out when placed under pressure rounding the home turn and in the home straight. Rider accidently dropped whip passing the 200m.
 
FLEWSHOT – Hampered on jumping away.
 
WHICH LILY – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.
 
OAKFIELD COSTA – Hampered on jumping away.
 
ISIS JECTALE – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
DIRT RICH – Was declared a late scratching at 1.16pm after refusing to load. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and the placegetters prior to 1.16pm as following:

Trainer B Trimble was advised that DIRT RICH would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to accepting for a future race.
 
Race 3: FAIRBAIRN BAKERY QTIS Maiden Plate 1000 metres
 
YUBETIDO – Rider reported that his mount raced green throughout the event.
 
CAT TWO – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
ALOTTA ATTITUDE – Hampered on jumping away.
 
GRAND CARRARA- Laid out when placed under pressure rounding the home turn.
 
JINABELLE – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
AWESOME BELL – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after not competing in the past 12 months and was passed fit to start. Slow to begin. Apprentice C Collis was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, two more than permitted.
 
Race 4: THE "ON THE BIT RACING AUSTRALIA AWARDS" Weight for Age 1100 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed due to WHOSDAY proving difficult to proceed to the barriers. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding.
 
SPLITZ – Held up for clearing running on entering the home straight.
 
CARDINET – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Ran off rounding the first turn approaching the 800m. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised CARDINET would be required to trial prior to accepting for a future race.
 
RED SATIN – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
WHOSDAY – When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Apprentice D McGillivray stated that his mount failed to respond to his riding throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr J Manzelmann stated that it is his intention to back the gelding up at Mackay on Tuesday 9th February and should the gelding not respond to a senior rider, he would put consideration into the future racing career of the gelding. Stewards advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing at Mackay.
 
Race 5: EMERALD JOCKEY CLUB BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 16metres
 
JOEL- Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
ATYAAF – Was declared a late scratching at 2.55pm by order of the stewards after trainer C Smith had incorrectly presented the wrong horse on course.  Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and the placegetters prior to 2.55pm as following: 
Win Bets AUTHADANE - 12 cents
Place Bets (For Winner) 15 cents
Place Bets (For 2nd) JOEL - 11 cents
Place Bets (For 3rd) COMBATTANT DE RUE - 13 cents
All monies bet after the Stewards' declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket.
At a subsequent inquiry, Trainer Craig Smith pleaded guilty and was fined $1000 under the provisions of AR99(a) for presenting the wrong horse to race. Stewards took into account Mr Smith's guilty plea, forthright evidence and excellent record in this area.
 
BUTTER TOAST – Trainer was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding for proving difficult to load. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer Mr A Jones was advised he would be required to present a veterinary clearance prior to accepting for a future race or trial.
 
OLIVER SKOONA – Stood flat footed as the start was affected and was slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer S Seymour was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding.
 
COMBATTANT DE RUE – Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages between AUTHADANE, which laid out, and Joel which laid in when placed under pressure in the straight.  
 
AUTHADANE – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
 
Race 6: BECOME A MEMBER TODAY BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1200 metres
 
DONE IT AGAIN – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
TAKE A SHINE – Slow to begin.
 
FLAT TO STACK – Raced in restricted room for a number of strides approaching the 100m to the inside of GAME OF CIRCLES, which laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
GAME OF CIRCLES – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
LENNON'S PADDOCK – Raced wide throughout the event.
