QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT EMERALD JOCKEY CLUB SATURDAY 5 FEBRUARY 2022 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Soft (7) RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – B Cooke Stewards – G Meek, C Allison, M Heath & E SuliClerk of Scales – W WelburnJudge – S BryantVeterinarian – Dr S BlissSwab Attendants – E BurgessStarter – J McLellan Race 1: ROUTE 66 MOTOR INN QTIS Maiden Plate 1000 metres DIDN’T ASK ME – Tightened for room, checked and lost ground near the 800m when FLAMING ASTEROID was taken in by SHEER SUCCESS. Apprentice N. Seymour (the rider of SHEER SUCCESS) pleaded guilty to a charge of carless riding under AR131(a) in that at a point near the 800m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of FLAMING ASTEROID and DIDN’T ASK ME, resulting in FLAMING ASTEROID being placed in restricted room and DIDN’T ASK ME being tightened for room, checked and lost ground. Apprentice Seymour’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight February 5th 2022 and to conclude midnight February 13th 2022. Apprentice Seymour was advised of her right to an internal review. Inclined to lay when placed under pressure in the home straight.Upon returning to scale Jockey J Stanley advised that his mount failed to respond when placed under pressure from the 700 metres and in his opinion was inclined to hang in throughout and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. FLAMING ASTEROID – Placed restricted room for a short distance near the 800 metres when SHEER SUCCESS shifted in. MORE THAN CHARGED – Jumped with its head in the air and lost ground. SHEER SUCCESS – Began awkwardly. ZAKHEERA – Prior to the start of the event, stable representative D Reynolds reported that mare had cast an off-hind plate enroute to the track. Stewards permitted the mare to race bare behind. Began awkwardly. Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn. Improved onto heels and was forced to steady near the 300 metres. Shifted out abruptly leaving the 100 metres. ROCKIN’ ROCKY – Raced ungenerously shortly after the placing its rider unbalanced. MAYA’S SONG – Fractious in the barrier prior to the start. Race 2: HELLOWWORLD OPEN Plate 1100 metres AMERICAN GENIUS – Raced wide throughout. AIRACOBRA – Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide through the early and middle stages. Commenced to weaken from near the 600 metres and took no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. HI HARRY – Rider reported that the gelding was inclined to lay in over the concluding 400 metres. KRAVITZ – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages. Race 3: TJF MILK BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1600 metres The start of this event was delayed when LADY SNITCH provided difficult to load. NO INUENDO – Raced with its head in the whilst being restrained near the 1200 metres and again near the 800 metres. Raced three wide without cover the 800 metres. PRINCE OF VENICE – Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight. LADY SNITCH – Proved difficult to load. Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare. Race 4: CENTRAL HIGHLANDS INSURANCE SERVICES MARK RUSSELL BENCHMARK 65 Handica 1280 metres The start of this event was delayed to allow for the running of an interstate event. The start was further delayed when QUART POT refused to load. QUART POT was subsequently declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 2:30pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested in QUART POT be refunded with the following deductions to apply: 1 cents in the dollar for the win - #83 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #83 cents in the dollar for 2nd placegetter – #24 cents in the dollar for 3rd placegetter - #6 Trainer J. Manselmann was advised the mare would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to returning to racing. ALFIARTO – Raced wide throughout. STARSONIC – Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining a cover near the 800 metres. MY BOY SAM – Began awkwardly. Trainer reported that the gelding would be sent for a spell. FUTURE IDEA (NZ) – Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 200 metres. Race 5: R & R COLDROOM HIRE BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1200 metresThe declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to review the photo finish image for third placing. After doing so, Stewards were satisfied with the judge’s placing and declared correct weight. AIRWING – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. KARENO – Began awkwardly. LORD GREYSTROKE – Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight. BIRKIN BLACK – Raced wide without cover throughout. Rider reported that after being awkwardly, the gelding failed to travel throughout. Trainer C Taylor indicated that the gelding may be leaving his stables. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. THE CROWN – Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels and was forced to shift outwards to obtain clear running near the 800 metres. I AM BOLT – Slow to begin. ALL NATIVE – Began awkwardly. Inclined to over race throughout. Forced wider near the 800 metres when THE CROWN shifted out. Race 6: CONGRATULATIONS MR & MRS MICK SHIELDS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1000 metres Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards reviewed the patrol footage of the start to confirm EARLY PLEA had been afforded a fair start. After doing so, Stewards were satisfied that EARLY PLEA had been afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared. SCHWEID AS – Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels at the 800 metres and had to shift out to obtain clear running. EARLY PLEA – Fractious prior to the start. Stood flat footed and lost ground. Trainer W Loudon was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record for standing flat footed at the start. LEO’S EXPRESS – Raced wide without cover throughout. BITTERGREYMAGIC – Approaching the 900 metres, was placed in restricted room, checked and lost ground when LONDON RULER hung despite the best efforts of its rider. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. LONDON RULER – Hung in during the early stages.Trainer T Austin was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record for hanging in. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. PURPOSEFUL MISS – Held up momentarily rounding the home turn.
