Wilcock to ride 2 kilograms overweight due to no other rider being available. Began awkwardly making contact with BETTER THAN ELVIS. Improved onto heels and was forced to steady near the 600m. COUNTRY BOYZ – Began awkwardly. SEDUCTIVE SPUR – Slow to begin. TISAYAC – Began awkwardly and lost ground. BETTER THAN ELVIS – Bumped on jumping and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority. THINKICANGIDDYUP – Raced wide for the majority. Race 2: OUTBACK FLOORING EMERALD LIGHTNING OPEN HANDICAP – 1000m GODFATHER’S GIRL – Laid in when paced under pressure in the early part of the home straight. STAR OF O’REILLY – Fractious in barrier. Began awkwardly and lost ground. No further racing incidents. Race 3: ANDERSENS EMERALD BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1200m MOONSHINER – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight. FARMER’S FRIEND – Slow into stride. KALMAR – Slow into stride. Raced wide for the majority. Shifted in bumping TREBLA near the 300m. TREBLA – Bumped near the 300m and as a result made contact with the hindquarters of AS GOODS AS READY. AS GOOD AS READY. Bumped near the 300m. YUBETIDO – When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, Trainer G. Ball advised that as the gelding has been working well after returning from its most recent spell and a such she expected the horse to be forward showing in todays event. Stewards noted the explanation. Race 4: RDO EQUIPMENT BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 1635mOSLEN – When questioned, Jockey N. Day could offer no explanation for the below market expectation performance in todays event. Trainer G. Bell advised that the gelding would be sent for an immediate spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. PHYLAV – Laid in when paced under pressure in the home straight.MISS JEDI – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. No further racing incidents. Race 5: COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE QUALIFIER/EMERALD FORD EMERALD 100 OPEN – 1850m MURGANELLA – Refused to jump taking no part in the event. Trainer P. O’Toole was advised the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to returning to racing. PACKAGE – Began awkwardly. At a point near the 1650m, was forced to steady when BEYERISCHE shifted in. Jockey C. Lennon (the rider of BEYERISCHE) was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a). COACH – Improved onto heels and was forced to steady near the 1400m. BEYERISCHE – Fractious in the barrier. Shifted in at the 1650m tightening PACKAGE. Jockey C. Lennon’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days (to commence midnight 8/10/2022 and to conclude midnight 15/10/2022) under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip more than 10 times prior to the 100m. GALAPAGOS – Slow to begin. I AM CLEVER – Began awkwardly. RADIPOLE (IRE) – Began awkwardly. DEMURRAL – Jockey N. Day could offer no explanation for the below market expectation performance. Trainer G. Bell advised that she would make a determination on the geldings future racing plans in the days following the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
