McLellan Race 1: MARABOON TAVERN Class 6 Handicap 1280 metres The track was upgraded to a good (4) following this event. XANTHUS – Fractious in barrier. Began awkwardly. ZIPSPUR – Began awkwardly. DEMURRAL – Tightened for room on jumping. Bumped by TEST OF WAR near the 200m. TEST OF WAR – Raced keen in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Brushed with DEMURRAL in the home straight. Race 2: EVOKE MAINTENANCE SERVICES BENCHMARK 50 Handicap1615 metres VAHASH – Made contact with the running rail near the 500m. BRENTON – Difficult to load. Slow into stride. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the below market expectation performance Jockey N. Day advised that his mount failed to travel at any stage throughout the event and further failed to respond when placed under hard riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. THE FRINGE – Slow into stride. Race 3: PATRICK REFRIGERATION & AIR CONDITIONING OPEN Plate1000 metres AGE OF INNOCENCE – Bumped on jumping. ASPEN LAD – Began awkwardly. COURTESY BUS – Fractious prior to the start. Laid in for the majority. VICI – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the below market expectation performance Jockey J. Stanley advised that after beginning poorly his mount travelled well until it was placed under pressure near the 500m and in his opinion proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Race 4: BECOME A MEMBER QTIS Maiden Plate 1000 metres The start was delayed when EL OF A SENORITA cast a near side plat and had to be attended too by the farrier. JACK’S ECHO – Began awkwardly. GRAND ASCENT – Fractious in barrier. URBAN ARTIST – Began awkwardly and lost ground. ISSHEGREY – Began awkwardly. REAL QUEEN – Slow to begin. Hung in for the majority of the home straight. TAKING STEPS – Slow to begin. Race 5: GRAYS.COM Class 3 Handicap 1000 metres Prior to the running of the event, a rider reported that whilst in the starting stalls in race four, she may have felt a tingling sensation when touching the barriers. Upon further investigation it was established that the vehicle towing the barriers was in contact with an electric fence which may have been sending a small current through the metal sections of the starting stalls. Stewards ordered club officials to rectify the issue and were satisfied to proceed with the meeting. Upon further review of race four, stewards were satisfied that this issue had no impact on any runner in the event. WENEIRI – Hung out rounding the home turn. EXPECT A HERO – Began awkwardly. ADMIRAL ASH – Slow to begin. Cast an off-hind plate at the 700m. JOHNNY DEEP – Began awkwardly. Race 6: FLEXIHIRE EMERALD BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1280 metres CHESTNUT SCAFFA – Commenced to weaken from the 700m taking no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer W. Baker was advised the gelding would be barred from racing at all TAB venues until its form improves. TRI NATIONS - Wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. YUBETIDO – Slow to begin. Race 7: CORNERSTONE RISK GROUP BENCHMARK 45 Handicap1100 metres TWISTED SISTER – Began awkwardly. LIVERPOOL GAL – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. Weakened from the 400m taking no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained a superficial laceration to the off-hind leg. PERSAGA – Reared at the start and lost considerable ground. . Raced in restricted room for a short distance over the concluding stages. WREN PLUCKED – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. STORMWATER – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
