McClellan Race 1: THANK-YOU SPONSORS QTIS BM55 Handicap (1000 METRES) KINJINA – Trainer Raymond Williams was fined $100 under AR65(1) for failing to produce the mare’s identification papers.STILL FEELING IT - bumped with SWEET WAY’S at the start.DIAMOND HANDS - raced wide throughout. BI TURBO - approaching the 600 metres, rider had to check severely and lose ground when SEDUCTIVE SPUR shifted in when not clear to do so. SEDUCTIVE SPUR – App. Brooke Johnson pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR 131(a) in that for a distance from the 600 metres, she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear to do so resulting in BI TURBO having to severely check and lose considerable ground. App. Johnson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days to commence on midnight 20th May 2023 and expire midnight 1st June 2023. COUNTRY ROADS – struck the inside running rail near the 600 metres of its own accord and laid out approaching the home turn. OAKFIELD BLOSSOM – slow to begin. Trainer Wayne Baker was fined $200 under AR106 when his stable representative presented the mare with the incorrect gear. SWEET WAY’S - bumped with STILL FEELING IT at the start. Approaching the 600 metres eased off heels when SEDUCTIVE SPUR shifted in. OSAKA SUNSET – slow to begin. Race 2: EMERALD FORD QTIS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1000 METRES) ASBURY PARK – began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. PHONDLE – shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages. TUPELAWARA – bumped by BOSTON BELLE which shifted out near the finishing line. ELVIARE – slow to begin. OUR STORMY GIRL – very fractious in the barriers prior to the start. OUR IRISH EMPEROR – ducked in sharply near the finish line. ARROGANT HEART – steadied near the 800 metres when tightened for a short distance. BIG ROCKET – steadied near the 800 metres when tightened for a short distance. BOSTON BELLE – shifted out and bumped TUPELWARA near the finish line. REALLY REALLY GOOD – slow to begin.SHOW AND GO – approaching the 800 metres, stepped in for a stride tightening runners to the inside. App. Brooke Johnson was advised to exercise greater care when shifting in. Race 3: TED HARVEY MEMORIAL 2023 BATTLE OF THE BUSH EMERALD QUALIFER OPEN Plate (1100 METRES) DYNAMIC VERSE – bumped SCHWEID AS at the start and as a result was slow into stride. FRATELLINO – raced wide throughout. ISIS CARMELLA – prior to the declaration of correct weight, connections viewed the photo finish. After doing so, they were satisfied with the judge’s semaphored numbers and correct weight was declared. ENTERPRISE GRAND – slow into stride and showed no early speed. When looking for clear running near the 50 metres, forced BONNIE EV wider on the track. SCHWEID AS – bumped DYNAMIC VERSE at the start. DEFERENCE – raced wide throughout. NEW YORK WORLD – raced wide throughout. PEACHIES DREAM - Raced wide throughout. Trainer Glenda Bell was fined $200 under AR106 for presently mare with the incorrect gear. BONNIE EV - stewards permitted jockey Tasha Chambers to ride BONNIE EV 2kg overweight as there was no other rider to make the weight. Near the 50 metres was forced wider on the track by ENTERPRISE GRAND. Race 4: EMERALD TROPHIES Maiden Plate (1200 METRES) MYZAH – checked near the finishing line when THE PETTI EXPRESS shifted out under riding. PERGAMON – bumped with TAMSIN at the start. Over raced in the early and middle stages before being allowed to stride forward and take up a leading position. THE PETTI EXPRESS – Shifted out under riding near the finishing line and bumped MYZAH. App. Gabrielle Semmens was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a) for allowing her mount to shift out and bumped MYZAH. TAMSIN – bumped PERGAMON at the start. Had to be steadied for a stride near the 800 metres when PERGAMON shifted in. Race 5: CQ BLAST & PAINT BENCHMARK 50 Handicap (1615 METRES)IF YOU SAY SO – a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have suffered an injury to the off fore tendon. Trainer Glenda Bell was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary certificate prior to it’s next start. Trainer Bell advised that it was her intention to retire the gelding. STAR OF LEON – hung out around the home turn. ADMIRAL ASH – slow into stride. Raced wide throughout. JERRY ZANDA – slow to begin. NATIVE BEE – slow to begin. SKELLIG ISLAND – raced wide throughout. When questioned about the disappointing performance, Trainer Raymond Williams reported that it was his intention to spell the gelding. HEMMERLE - over raced in the early stages.
