QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT EMERALD RACE CLUB INC 22 JULY 2023 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – H. GillettStewards – S. McLellan Race 1: MARABOON TAVERN Maiden Plate 1000m The start was delayed to allow for the late arrival of the clerks of the course. CAPITAL INVESTMENT – Fractious prior to the start. Jockey C. McIver reported that the gelding raced ungenerously throughout the event. KEY TO THE ZOU – Began awkwardly striking the barrier partition and as a result was very slow to begin. Raced greenly throughout the event. A post-race veterinarian examination failed to show any apparent abnormalities. PERGAMON – Hung out when placed under pressure over the concluding 150m carrying RUSSIAN WHISPER wider on the track. Jockey E. Bell was spoken to advisedly to make a more concerted effort to correct her mount when laying out. ARGONTIL – Inclined to hang out rounding the home bend. Held up for clear running until the 150m. GOLDIE’S POWER – Fractious prior to the start. LOST ’N’ FOUND – Jumped outwards at the start. Raced wide in the early stages. Raced keenly throughout the early stages. RUSSIAN WHISPER – Carried wider on the track over the concluding 150m when PERGAMON laid out. Race 2: FLEXIHIRE OPEN Handicap 1000m AHWAHNEECHEE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. STOICAL – Hung out passing the 200m and raced erratically in the home straight. Apprentice N. Olzard reported that her mount felt awkward in its action. A subsequent post-race veterinarian examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. DAWN TOO GOOD – Slow into stride. Raced wide in the early stages. POET’S GIRL – Raced Wide throughout. LIFETIME QUEST – Began awkwardly. Race 3: HWC BUILDING CONTRACTORS QTIS BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 1200m YUBETIDO – Slow to begin. SO ODELIA – Jumped inwards at the start. BOLD ENFORCER – Jumped outwards at the start. Was retired out of the event passing the 100m and took no further competitive part in the race. Jockey N. Summers advised that the gelding failed to respond when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed no significant abnormalities. LYNRIC LASS – Raced wide in the early stages. KASHKAR – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. PERSAGA – Fractious prior to the start and subsequently very slow to begin. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the mare due to its barrier manners. Race 4: EMERALD ISUZU UTE BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1200m DAWSON DIAMOND – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice S. Nielson reported that her left foot struck the barriers on jumping. Subsequently she was examined by QAS and was stood down for the remainder of her rides. Apprentice S. Nielson was advised she would require a medical clearance prior to returning to riding. POLICE (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Shifted out passing the 150m to obtain clear racing room. Laid in over the concluding 50m. STARHATTAN – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. FARMER’S FRIEND – Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. ROCKY POET – Put in an awkward stride and became unbalanced passing the 950m subsequently brushed the running rail for a considerable distance, then shifted out abruptly off the rail impeding JELLISHOT and ADMIRAL ASH which had to take evasive measures. JELLISHOT – Impeded passing the 950m when ROCKY POET became unbalanced and shifted out. ADMIRAL ASH – Raced wide throughout. Impeded passing the 950m when ROCKY POET became unbalanced and shifted out. Race 5: ELITE JUMPING CASTLE HIRE BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1615m BRAZEN BRECCIA – As apprentice S. Nielson was stood down due to injury in race 4 she was replaced by apprentice M. Apel. Laid out when placed under pressure passing the 150m. NATIVE BEE – Slow into stride. TREBLA – Cast both fore plates passing the 1250m. MILKY ROCKET – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
