GENERAL
Due to the hot weather conditions this race meeting was conducted in accordance with the QRIC caring for racing animals in extreme heat policy.
 
 
Race 1:EMERALD ISUZU UTE QTIS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1000 METRES
 
DEEP MILLIONS – Raced wide throughout.
 
KURTAKIN – Near the 150m was momentarily inconvenienced when POWER SISTER shifted out.
 
PRUDISH – Slow to begin. Over-raced early and middle stages.
 
SUPER SLICK – Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
BIG ROCKET – Stewards permitted jockey A Butler to ride +.50kg as no other suitable riders were available. Momentarily hampered by POWER SISTER near the 200m.
 
IMAGINE THAT – Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 100m was checked of the heels of POWER SISTER that shifted out. Apprentice jockey T Leslight pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that approaching the 100m he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of IMAGINE THAT resulting in that runner having to check and lose its rightful running. Jockey T Leslight’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight the 10th February 2024 and to expire midnight the 20th of February 2024.
 
POWER SISTER – Slow to begin.
Race 2: CMF FORKLIFTS OPEN Plate 1100 METRES
 
KOBE ROCKS(NZ) – Weaken from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
TERRIUS – Jumped awkwardly.
 
STILL FEELING IT – Raced wide throughout.
 
WHOSHOTHEMAGICIAN – Stewards declared a late scratching at 11:36am due to no rider being available.
 
STARHATTAN – When all relevant parties are able to attend Stewards will enquire into the circumstances which resulted in STARHATTAN falling near the 400m and dislodging apprentice M Apel who was transported to Emerald hospital for further assessment. Apprentice M Apel was advised that a medical certificate and completion of a cognitive test would be required prior to her next future race ride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had sustained a minor abrasion to the nearside neck area.
Trainer T Williams was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners.
 
Race 3: ELITE JUMPING CASTLE HIRE Maiden Plate 1200 METRES
 
ASTRA WALLY – Trainer G Bell was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
VANCOUVER LIGHT’S – Raced wide throughout.
 
GOLDIE’S POWER – Approaching the 700m whilst over-racing had to be eased off the heels of SIRENE.
 
IT’S A PEARLER – Jockey C Lennon was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of whip, 9 times prior to the 100m, 4 more than permitted.
 
MANSOURI – As Apprentice M Apel was unavailable, Stewards declared a late scratching at 2:22pm due to no other riders being available.
 
MONTAGLIARI – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
Race 4: FARM & CONSTRUCTION PRODUCTS Class B Handicap 1280 METRES

Race 5: FAIRBAIRN BAKERY BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1615 METRES
