Taylor advised that following its run at Mackay on the 14th of November, BUSH DIAMOND had pulled up well, however Trainer Taylor further advised that he and the owners would be considering the immediate racing future of the gelding within his stable. RACE 1: APH GLASS & ALUMINIUM Maiden Plate (1000 Metres) BRANDS – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages. CARRARA KING – Proved difficult to load prior to the start. Jumped away awkwardly. Laid out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages and had to be corrected by its rider. When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, Trainer C. Dore advised that after its first start back on the 30th of September, CARRARA KING had trialled well on the 11th of November, and since then the gelding had been working well in the lead up to today’s event. With the addition of a senior rider being engaged, which in Trainer Dore’s opinion proved beneficial in the gelding chances, Trainer Dore was expecting the improved performance upon its only race start. NOBLE MASTER – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. TWO STROKES – Trainer R. Williams was reprimanded under the provisions of AR106(1) in that TWO STROKES was presented to race with a tongue tie, which is not declared in the gelding’s race gear.Slow to begin. Raced greenly in the home straight. ARACELI – Trainer G. Bell was reprimanded under the provisions of AR106(1) in that ARACELI was presented to the mounting yard without its tongue tie. In determining penalty, stewards took into account Trainer Bell’s previous record in that she hadn’t been charged under the rule in over twelve months. Jumped away awkwardly. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed minor abrasions to the off-hind leg. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. GOLD ACADEMY – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. OLIGARCHY – When questioned regarding the performance, Apprentice G. Semmens advised that she was overall disappointed in the gelding’s efforts and could offer no explanation other than the weight carried may have attributed to poor performance in today’s event. Trainer R. Williams also stated that he could offer no explanation for the poor performance. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to have an abnormal coloured urine. As the on-course veterinarian could offer no explanation at this stage for the abnormal finding, Trainer R. Williams was advised that OLIGARCHY would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of the results of full blood and urine tests prior to the gelding resuming racing. CICCONE – Momentarily had to steady near the 900m. At a subsequent inquiry, it was established that approaching the 900m, CICCONE had commenced to race ungenerously and hung inwards despite the efforts of its rider, while simultaneously OLIGARCHY had shifted out momentarily. After taking into consideration the evidence put forward by Jockey L. Miller and Apprentice G. Semmens, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied in issuing a charge to any one rider, however both riders were reminded of their obligations in ensuring that their mounts are clear of other runners when shifting ground. IMAGINE THAT – Bumped on jumping by MISHANI TWILIGHT. Raced wide in the early stages. When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, Trainers Representative E. Devine stated that IMAGINE THAT had been working well in the lead up to today’s event where the mare was first up from returning to racing from a recent spell. Mrs Devine further added that the stable was expecting the forward showing in comparison to its most recent start back in June, where in their opinion, IMAGINE THAT had come to the end of that preparation. Jockey T. Chambers advised stewards that IMAGINE THAT travelled well throughout the event and had responded to her riding urges in a positive manner. MISHANI TWILIGHT – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, bumping IMAGINE THAT. When questioned regarding the performance, Apprentice G. Semmens stated that she was disappointed with MISHANI TWILIGHT’s efforts and could offer no explanation regarding the performance other than that the mare may not have handled the softer track conditions today. Trainer R. Williams advised stewards that he also could offer no real explanation regarding the seemingly poor performance and advised that, in his opinion, MISHANI TWILIGHT may be better suited to racing on tracks with firmer surfaces. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer R. Williams was advised to report on the conditions of MISHANI TWILIGHT in the coming days.
