[KD1] Race 1: MAIDEN PLATE 800 metres
 
INTERCAPITALEXPRES – Slow to begin. Rider reported the gelding raced greenly throughout the event.
 
DEEP FINE LEG – Declared a late scratching at 10:20am after sustaining injuries to both hind legs when being transported to the track. Trainer B Gray was advised the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
EVA THE DIVA – Slow to begin.
 
GORGEOUS GIRL – Slow to begin and then failed to muster speed in the early stages.
 
Race 2: MAIDEN PLATE 800 metres
 
HAIRY LOVER – Inside the final 100 metres laid under pressure obliging its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount.
 
KING GUNNAR – Slow to begin.
 
HOAXING – As had not started for an extended period of time, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
RIVA’S ANGEL – Trainer B Whalley was reprimanded under AR106 for presenting the filly incorrectly saddled to the mounting enclosure.

 
Race 3: BENCHMARK 50 HDCP 800 metres
 
On return to scale a protest was lodged by K Yoshido, rider of fourth placegetter MISS CRUISEY, against third past the post STRYKING PRINCESS (K Gates) alleging interference near the 700 metres. After viewing the race footage, taking evidence from connections and acting on their own observations, Stewards found that at that point STRYKING PRINCESS shifted in marginally crowding MISS CRUISEY which as a result was momentarily steadied. Bearing in mind where the incident took place and the manner which both horses finished the race off, the protest was dismissed. At a subsequent inquiry K Gates, rider of STRYKING PRINCESS was reprimanded under AR131(a) for carelessness.
 
GIBBO’S GIRL – Over-raced when steadied near the 700 metres.
 
LADY RASCAL – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance rider C Miles reported after missing the start the mare failed to respond when placed under pressure and again in her opinion was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of LADY RASCAL revealed no abnormalities. 
 
MISS CRUISEY – Crowded for room and had to be steadied near the 700 metres when STRYKING PRINCESS shifted in. Raced three wide for majority of the event.

 
Race 4: BENCHMARK 50 HDCP 800 metres
 
SOLID ASSET – Inconvenienced near the 400 metres when DREAMALINA laid out. Checked and taken wider rounding the home turn when AFTER THE STORM hung out.
 
AFTER THE STORM – Hung out despite the efforts of its rider throughout the event proving difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer K Afford was advised AFTER THE STORM must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
BEATING DRUM – Raced three wide with cover for majority of the event.
 
ROOTS’N’ROCKS – Bumped on jumping and lost ground.
 
DREAMALINA – Laid out near the 400 metres.
 
LA BELLE LA BELLE – Jumped in at the start. Raced three wide without cover throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
SPIRIT’S FIRST – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 5: BENCHMARK 55 HDCP 1200 metres
 
SWAN ISLAND – Contacted the enclosure gate with its offside hip moving onto the track. On arrival at the barriers underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
MISTER WARD – As had not started for an extended period of time, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Unable to muster speed in the early stages.
 
NEWS DIRECTOR – Put in an awkward stride when struck with the whip approaching the 100 metres resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced.
 
KAPPY CINO – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room near the 1000 metres for a short distance. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
DULCIE TIE – Raced three wide in the early stages. Shifted out under pressure near the 150 metres.
 
MODERN FAMILY – Slow to begin.
 
DRAGON PINS – Obliged to alter course near the 150 metres when DULCIE TIE shifted out under pressure.
 
 
Race 6: BENCHMARK 55 HDCP 1200 metres
 
RESET’S SON – Improved onto the heels of the tiring BIG WIG approaching the finish line and had to be steadied.
 
VERMUTIN – Steadied from heels when the pace eased near the 600 metres.
 
PATRICK’S ME MATE – Crowded on jumping.
 
KARTANUP – Raced three wide for majority of the event.
 
 
Race 7: MAIDEN PLATE 1460 metres
 
HARRYUP – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running between the 600 metres and 300 metres.
 
LOCK AND LAUNCH – Declared a late scratching at 2:00pm when found to be mildly lame in the off hind leg.
 
ZOOMARATTA – C Meehan, rider of ZOOMARATTA, was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, 1 more than permitted.
 
MADAME TESS – D Boutet, rider of MADAME TESS, was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on eight occasions prior to the 100 metres, 3 more than permitted.
 
TENNESSEE PEARL – Slow to begin, then ridden forward to obtain the position outside the leader near the 1100 metres.
 
MOONWINKLE – Slow to begin.
 
 
 
Race 8: CLASS B HDCP 1460 metres
 
DINNY’S A SUSPECT – Slow to begin.
 
NICHOLAS ADAM – Near the 300 metres slipped behind and lost ground.
 
PUNCTUALITY – Raced in restricted room near the 400 metres.
 
BARLEY HUNTER – Shifted out near the 500 metres after commencing to weaken.
 
COFFEE COMING – Slow to begin. Raced three wide for majority of the event.
