Race 3: DAN O’BRIEN MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1200m

THREE STRIPES – Began awkwardly and then a short distance later lost ground when tightened for room between ARLIZAR and STRAIGHT ALPHAS which shifted in. Apprentice C. Sutherland reported that his mount was inclined to hang in for a majority of the race and did not feel free in its action. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

JUNGLE BLAZE – Raced wide throughout.

ROTHERO ESSGEE – Near the 1000m, hung in despite the efforts of the rider, forcing STRAIGHT ALPHAS in tightening the running of TEMPTRESS KATIE, which had to be steadied from the heels of SQUUZE DIS which shifted out at that point. Rider reported her mount was inclined to hang in throughout the race. Trainer R. Pereira was advised that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of the gelding.

Near the 1100m was crowded for room between BEACH CLUB and HEAR HEAR which was taken in by CRAIGLEA ETNA which in turn was taken in by WHISTLIN’ ARROW which shifted in before being corrected by the rider. Apprentice E. Pomfrett (WHISTLIN’ ARROW) was advised to exercise care. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Raced very wide rounding the home turn.
