QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT EWAN AMATEUR TURF CLUB EWAN – SATURDAY 25th September 2021 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Firm 2 RAIL – In True Position OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P LaneStewards – D Griffiths, D LaneClerk of Scales – StewardsJudges – T McCloskey, T Bowen, B Von WaldVeterinarian/Sample Collection Officer – Dr D VieroStarter – J Cullen GENERALThe thoroughbreds TEMPO (NZ) and BROOKWYN which raced on the previous day, Friday September 24th, were inspected by the Veterinarian and cleared to race. Race 1: TRADEMARK AU AND PURCELL PLUMBING & DRAINAGE MAIDEN PLATE 800m FIVEACLOCKSOMWHERE – Began awkwardly. Inconvenienced when disappointed for a marginal run passing the 300m. MORE THAN CHARGED – Began awkwardly. Inconvenienced when racing tight between runners soon after the start. ROCKET TO GLASGOW – Slowly into stride after beginning awkwardly. Had to be checked after improving onto the heels of a runner which hung in near the 600m. Raced wide for the majority. PRINCESS GLEE – Fractious in the barrier. Hung in in the early stages near the 600m when continuing to hang in despite the efforts of jockey P Cullen hampered another runner. Raced ungenerously from that point. Trainer Mr B Hunter was advised that the mare would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to next race start. MADAM JANE – Raced greenly for the majority. DANGERFIELD – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. JEAN LAFITTE – Raced wide for the majority. MISHANI TSUNAMI – Raced wide for the majority. EMMA ROCKET – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a superficial laceration to the near hind leg consistent with having been galloped on in running. Race 2: ROTARY SUNRISE & PEACE BUILT CONSTRUCTION BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 800m THAT’S OUR SONG – The gelding, which was resuming following a prolonged absence from racing underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination and was cleared to race. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. CRISTOVAO – Dwelt as the start was effected losing considerable ground and taking no further competitive part in the event. Trainer Mr R Cussons was advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to next race start. KAHUNA – Began awkwardly. Laid in near the 700m inconveniencing a runner to its inside despite the efforts of jockey L Morrison. Raced wide for the majority. HAMMERTONE – Slowly into stride. HAYYLER’S TARY – Inconvenienced near the 700m when momentarily placed in restricted room by a runner to its outside which was laying in. Raced wide for the majority. Race 3: HERBERT HALL BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1200m Stewards, after being contacted by Trainer Mr S Potiris at 8.09am, ordered the late withdrawal of MIKEY’S TURF for reasons which were deemed acceptable. TEMPO (NZ) – The gelding incurred a 2kg penalty after winning Race 3 the Ratings Band 0-55 Handicap the previous day, Friday September 24th. MUNRO – Was a late withdrawal at 3.18pm by order of Stewards after proving extremely fractious in the mounting yard and when on route to the start. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on the gelding be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers placed on the event prior to the time of scratching be subject to deductions of 3 cents in the dollar win and 4 cents in the dollar place on the face value of the betting ticket. Trainer Mr R Cussons was advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to next race start. BROOKWYN – Very slowly away losing considerable ground. Raced wide for the majority. Trainer Ms L McCormack was advised that a warning would be placed on the mares racing manners. BULLET LAD – Had to be steadied to improved around heels passing the 500m. STAR SINGER – Raced wide for the majority. Race 4: CLARITY HEARING CLASS B HANDICAP 1000m BEATIFUL TUNE – Slowly away. Hung out rounding the home turn. Raced wide for the majority. GIORDANO – Inclined to lay in down the running. Raced wide for the majority. MOLONGLE DRIFTER – Raced wide for the majority. Race 5: COLBRAN HOLDINGS QTIS CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1000m AMUTHON – Slowly away. TAHWIRI – Slowly into stride. CATMOSPSHERE – Raced wide for the majority. WHICH LILY – Tired noticeably over the concluding stages. Jockey G Kliese reported that the mare had not travelled comfortably in today’s firm conditions.
