GriffithsStewards – P. Warren, J. McIntosh, S. Nosworthy (Cadet) GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweights: Race 4. F. Edwards +0.5kgRace 4. N. Day +2.0kgRace 5. G. Kliese +1.0kg Race 1: INCITEC PIVOT QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M KEEP ON RUNNING – Passing the 1100 metres jumped a crossing on the track. When rounding the home turn, KEEP ON RUNNING again jumped a crossing on the track. KINGS CASTLE (FR) – Badly hampered on jumping when tightened between runners losing considerable ground. Raced wide throughout. On returning to scale, jockey G. Kliese stated the gelding resented the kickback in the early stages before finishing the race off well. ROCKINFELLER – Raced wide throughout. ENTERPRISE MOUSSE – When passing the 800 metres, faltered in its action and lost considerable ground. When being restrained out of the event rounding the home turn, dislodged apprentice Jockey T. Leslight, who was attended to by QAS staff and was cleared fit to fulfill his other engagements. A veterinary examination of ENTERPRISE MOUSSE revealed a fracture of the off-front fetlock, and the gelding was euthanized. MISS JABALI – Shifted in on jumping. Raced wide throughout. OHMIKKIUSOFINE – Shifted out on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Laid out over the concluding stages. HOLD MY HALO – Badly hampered on jumping when tightened between runners losing considerable ground. Race 2: JAYSEL CLASS 6 PLATE 1300 M COUNTER COMMAND – Raced ungenerously for a considerable distance after the start. Co-Trainer P. Rowe was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. ENTREPRENEURIAL – Raced keenly in the early stages. Hung in over the concluding stages. RUGGED ROY – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground. Race 3: W TITLEY & CO BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1750 M ANOTHER JACK – Laid in over the concluding stages. BRAND NEW (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. PLUCKERCARN – Was declared a late scratching at 2:43pm on veterinary advice. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on PLUCKERCARN be refunded with the following deductions to apply- 1st TYCOON LAD– 15 cents the win, 12 cents the place2nd TORQUE ESPAGNA – 16 cents the place3rd VIVACIOUS AWARD– 16 cents the place YA LOVE HER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to the frequency of race starts in a short period and was passed fit to race. Compounded over the concluding stages. SIZZLING SUN – Raced wide throughout. Race 4: NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS EWAN CUP BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1750 M MAJOR ARTIE – Raced wide in the early stages. Lost its near side fore plate passing the winning post on the first occasion. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near-side fore leg as a consequence of an injury received to the hoof when the plate dislodged. Trainer J. Wehlow was advised that MAJOR ARTIE would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. OLYMPIC KORCHNOI (BRZ) – Hung in shortly after the start and raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the winning post on the first occasion. HIGHER LOVE – Raced wide throughout. STADIUM OF LIGHT (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. When questioned on the performance, both Trainer F. Wieland and Jockey N. Yadi expressed their disappointment with the gelding performance and stated that the horse got back further than intended and as a result resented the kickback in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. MISSION HOUSE – As Jockey S. Sheargold was unable to ride the allotted weight, he was replaced by Jockey R. Wilson. TEMPO (NZ) – Began awkwardly. BLUE SWIMMER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to the frequency of race starts in a short period and was passed fit to race. Race 5: SIR RUPERT CLARK & CO COUNTRY STAMPEDE QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP 1000 M YES DREAM – Raced wide throughout. AHWAHNEECHEE - Was declared a late scratching at 3:51pm on veterinary advice.
