GENERAL
As L. Tilley was not riding owing to transport difficulties, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
RACE 1: LOCKYER FARM MACHINERY MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M
TO BE KING – Slow to begin. Shifted in when racing three wide near the 600m and had to be restrained from heels and then shifted out, making contact with another runner and became unbalanced.
ROSE MINMIN – Raced very ungenerously throughout the event and finished at the tail of the filed. Trainer S. Connolly was advised that the horse must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to being permitted to race again.
ATTRACTION – R. McMahon was reprimanded for using the whip in a forehand manner more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
NAKED BLONDE – Hampered shortly after the start.
TAVY NIGHTS – Underwent veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start.
ANGEL OF LIBERTY – Raced three wide throughout. Bumped near the 600m.
RACE 2: LOCKYER VALLEY REGIONAL COUNCIL MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M
Owing to transport difficulties D. McIntosh failed to arrive on course in time to fulfil his engagement. C. Schmidt was substituted as the rider of RACEY LYAN.
SHOT OF HAPPINESS reared behind the barriers, dislodging A. Spinks. As a result, A. Spinks required the attention of ambulance officers and was unable to fulfil his engagement. Stewards declared SHOT OF HAPPINESS a late scratching at 12 noon. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on SHOT OF HAPPINESS be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

1 cent in the dollar for place of winner #1
2 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #11
2 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #5
RACEY LYAN – Slow to begin.
BOCEPHUS – Jumped away awkwardly.
OUTBACK WRANGLER – Forced wider near the 600m.
LATCHY’S GIRL – Laid in during the middle stages.
RAHEEBS KINGDOM – Raced three wide without cover. Near the 800m raced in restricted room to the inside of VIVA LA PROXY, which had a tendency to lay in.
RACE 3: BIG VALLEY PRODUCE (MELBOURNE MKTS) QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1100M
Owing to transport difficulties, G. Geran failed to arrive on course in time to fulfil his engagement. M. Hellyer was substituted as the rider of MADAM AUBERGE.
ISSY COMMAND – Inclined to shift in under pressure for the majority of the home straight.
KING LISTENER – Raced wide throughout.
NAZAR ROYALE – Shifted out shortly after the start.
SHOULDA TO SHOULDA – Had to be checked when tightened for room shortly after the start. Had to be restrained from heels when overracing leaving the 800m.
SORORITY SISTER – Tightened for room at the start.
IBELIEVEICANFLY – Had to be steadied from heels near the 600m.
RACE 4: MURPHY'S PRODUCE (SYDNEY MKTS) MAIDEN PLATE – 1400M
ENTIRE SAVINGS – Inconvenienced and forced wider at the 600m.
OUR PLAYDOUGH – Began awkwardly.
HOMBROM BLUFF – Inconvenienced and forced wider at the 600m.
CARACAS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
LOOK I’M DANCING – M. Hellyer was dislodged a short distance after the winning post, taking a seemingly harmless fall. After being examined by ambulance officers, M. Hellyer was cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
SECOND LOVE – Stewards questioned jockey B. El-Issa regarding the overall performance of the horse. Jockey El-Issa stated that it was his intention to race in a forward position, however the gelding raced ungenerously and hung out for the majority of the event, shifting extremely wide leaving the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer J. Thomas indicated that it would be his intention to experiment with a gear change of bit lifter off and tongue tie on with the horse, however he was advised that the horse must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to being permitted to race again.
BIONDA DAZZLER – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
RACE 5: DES TEIS PRODUCE MAIDEN PLATE – 1400M
ALLEZ CHARLIE – Slow to begin.
GO YOU GOOD THING – Raced wide throughout.
SON OF SAGA – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey Stewart advised that after beginning reasonably he rode his mount along in the early stages in an endeavour to obtain a forward position, however the gelding failed to display sufficient speed and when crossed by other runners settled further back than anticipated and never travelled for the remainder of the event and in his opinion was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild lameness in the off foreleg. Trainer L. Hatch was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to its next start.
BLESSINGS – Slow to begin.
DEAR MARY – Raced wide throughout.
ROCK ON IVY – Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition. Inclined to shift in under pressure for the majority of the home straight.
RACE 6: PERSHOUSE PRODUCE & JACKWITZ FARMS RATINGS BAND 0-62 H’CAP – 860M
I’M CHILLIN’ was a late scratching at 12.46 pm following advice from trainer D. Forster that the horse had been injured en route to the course.
ZOUNITE – Slow to begin.
BACK TO WHARTON – Slow to begin.
PEARLS DESTINY – Raced wide throughout.
RACE 7: LAVENDER & SONS BACKMANN FARMS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1400M
BORN TO RUN EASY – Apprentice S. Fawke was reprimanded for failing to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in near the 1100m, resulting in NOTHING BUT GOLD being taken, tightening the running of GALWAY TOWN, which had to be steadied. Apprentice S. Fawke pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 900m he made insufficient effort to prevent his mount shifting in, resulting in AUBREY’S ACE having to be steadied and taken in, tightening the running of GALWAY TOWN, which had to be checked. Apprentice Fawke’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, to commence at midnight on Sunday 8 February and expire at midnight on Friday 20 February 2015.
AUBREY’S ACE – Jumped away awkwardly. Had to be steadied near the 900m and taken inwards by another runner.
GALWAY TOWN – Overraced in the early stages. Tightened for room and had to be steadied near the 1100m. Had to be checked when tightened near the 900m.
CRAFTY’S LAST – Slow to begin. Trainer B. Tattam reported to stewards that the gelding had sustained a minor laceration to its nearside hock.
NOTHING BUT GOLD – Taken inwards by another runner near the 1100m.
RACE 8: RUGBY FARM PTY LTD RATINGS BAND 0-62 H’CAP – 2000M
Owing to transportation difficulties, J. Hull was unable to fulfil his engagement on RHYTHM ‘N’ RAP and was replaced by S. Fawke.
ALWAYS A GIBBERER – A post-race veterinary examination
HEREAFTER – B. Stewart was fined $200 for using the whip in a forehand manner more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
SUITS US – Shifted in near the 400m and made contact with the running rail.
D’ARCY ARMS – Raced wide throughout.
RACE 9: LOCKYER PRODUCE & GROWERS BM70 H’CAP – 1100M
Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to view the patrol footage to ascertain whether DON’T TELL CYRIL had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the head-on vision of the start, stewards found that the barriers of DON’T TELL CYRIL failed to open at the same time as the other barriers, resulting in the horse being denied a fair start. Acting under the provisions AR. 134, stewards ordered that DON’T TELL CYRIL be declared a non-runner. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on DON’T TELL CYRIL be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

BLOODED – Became awkward near the 700m when racing to the inside of ROMAN SILVER.
THE RIGHT ONE – Slow to begin and lost ground. Overraced in the early stages.
KATIKA – Raced three wide without cover.
RACE 10: MARENDY PRODUCE CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1100M
NARSONS DUKE – Forced wider on the track to avoid the heels of another runner near the 500m. Stewards afforded apprentice S. Eilbeck the opportunity to comment on the disappointing performance. Apprentice Eilbeck stated that the gelding was fractious during its preliminary and added that after beginning well was unable to muster early speed and as a result was obliged to race wide. She added that in her opinion the gelding would appreciate racing over distances longer than that of today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Stewards will interview trainer D. Hansen regarding the performance.
MAZZANO – Hung in despite the efforts of its rider near the 600m, tightening runners to its inside. The horse then continued to hang in for the remainder of the event. Trainer P. Facoory will be advised that a warning will be placed on the horse’s racing manners.
I’M NO RUBY – Had to be steadied from heels near the 500m and shifted out.
SWEET AND SAVAGE – Had to be restrained from heels near the 600m. Had to be checked when tightened for room near the 400m.
CLIFFORD – Had to be checked near the 600m. Had to be restrained when tightened for room near the400m.
MAJOR BLOT – Hung out and raced ungenerously throughout. Trainer P. Moncrieff was advised that the horse must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to being permitted to race again. Rider lost the use of his nearside rein near the 600m, then further inconvenienced when taken in by another runner. Shifted in despite the efforts of its rider near the 400m and inconvenienced runners to its inside.
