GENERAL

As apprentice H. Phillips was ill and A. Spinks was indisposed riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Following routine stable inspections of trainers with runners at today’s meeting, trainer R. Stephenson was fined the sum of $200 for failing to have an updated treatment book.

RACE 1: GATTON CUP - SUNDAY JUNE 12 QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 860M

The start of this race was delayed when NO OPTION had to be resaddled behind the barriers.

A SNIP OF CAPTAIN – Raced wide throughout. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.

PRINCE FIELDER – Late scratching at 12.25 pm after being injured en route to the course.

CALL ME – Became awkward in its action near the 200m.

CHRISSY’S SPIRIT – Slow to begin and then tightened for room shortly after.

NO OPTION - Lost it's near hind plate in running.

RIPPER REEBA – Raced three wide without cover.

SHREWVELON – Began awkwardly. Commenced to hang out from the 600m and was eventually eased out of the race approaching the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the offside stifle. Connections were advised that the filly would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

RACE 2: BFP AGRICULTURAL CONSULTANTS RATINGS BAND 0-60 H’CAP – 860M

MARC’S DIESEL – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Inconvenienced near the 750m, shifted out and bumped another runner.

MARAUDING’S GIRL – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

IT’S A STICK UP – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced three wide without cover. Hung out rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.

DEEP DOWN – Bumped near the 750m.

JEPTOO – Near the 750m had to be steadied from the heels of SOCIETY QUEEN, which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice L. Attard, the rider of SOCIETY QUEEN, was advised to exercise greater care in future. Had to be steadied from heels a short distance later near the 750m when racing greenly.

EAGLE’S NEST – Raced four wide without cover for the majority.

HOT LIPSTICK – Bumped near the 750m.

RACE 3: BLUE DOG SPORTS MAIDEN H’CAP – 1400M

JONDY GLO – Slow to begin.

GRAN SABANA – Bumped at the start.

NEW MOON – Began awkwardly.

CATHRIN MARY – Shifted out shortly after the start and made contact with another runner

MAITLAND GEM – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground. A warning was placed against the horse’s barrier manners. Had to be steadied near the 1100m when placed in restricted room and lost ground.

WEE DRAGON – Raced wide throughout.

FLYING COLOURS – N. Evans was reprimanded for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

RACE 4: MCLEANS PRINT MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M

As R. McMahon was stood down by the paramedics following his ride in Race 2, J. Hoopert was substituted as the rider of LITTLE BOMBER.

SIR LOCKSMITH – Raced four wide without cover.

MAGIC PEBBLES – Shifted out shortly after the start and made heavy contact with another runner.

MADDY’S GIRL – Bumped heavily shortly after the start.

A NEW SOUND – Bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start. Raced wide from the 700m. Shifted in under pressure in the home straight.

LITTLE BOMBER – Began awkwardly and then a short distance later shifted out and made contact with another runner. Raced ungenerously for a short distance leaving the 1000m.

MARLAHN – Forced wider on the track leaving the 800m.

ACADINI – Bumped a short distance after the start and as a consequence became unbalanced. Held up from the 400m until approaching the entrance to the home straight.

RACE 5: RAY BACHMANN REAL ESTATE CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1100M

FAR NORTH – When afforded the opportunity to comment on the horse’s performance, jockey R. Goltz stated that after being crossed by ROCK OF GLORY, his mount raced further back in the field than he would have liked and only travelled reasonably throughout the event and was doing its best work over the concluding stages. He added that in his opinion the colt would appreciate a step up in distance in future races.

COLD MELODY – Began awkwardly. Had to be steadied approaching the 900m when tightened for room.

MEMPHIS GIRL – Raced three wide without cover.

CHIPEWYAN – Near the 50m had to be steadied away from the heels of BONSEA, which shifted in under pressure. Apprentice B. Stower, the rider of BONSEA, was reprimanded for this incident.

ROCK OF GLORY – Held up from leaving the 400m until approaching the entrance to the home straight.

CLAIRE DELORES – Tightened for room at the start. Raced three wide.

LE CHACAL – Slow to begin. Raced four wide without cover.

WILD ROMANCE – Stood flat-footed and then began awkwardly and lost considerable ground.

RACE 6: WILSON BROTHERS FINANCE – LAIDLEY CUP BM70 H’CAP – 1400M

LORD PYRUS – Forced four deep near the 700m.

I’M NO RUBY – Blundered of its own accord on entering the home straight.

ANASHEED – Shifted three wide on the track near the 700m, forcing LORD PYRUS four deep.

RACE 7: HUGHES GRAVEL RATINGS BAND 0-60 H’CAP – 1600M

As S. Bogenhuber had accepted dual engagements, L. Tilley was substituted as the rider of 3rd emergency TEMUJIN KHAN. Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by Ms Bogenhuber as to the circumstances surrounding the dual engagement.

MOUNT PERRY – A. Badger was reprimanded for using the whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

BAY RAIDER – J. Morris reported at scale that it was not his intention to lead, however the gelding commenced to race strongly and despite his efforts to restrain the gelding, he was obliged to take up a leading position.

WEWONYA – Raced three wide without cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer B. Thornton was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to it racing again.

WHITE TURF – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

CAPSIZED – Slow to begin.
