ANSWERED – Slow to begin.

NOVATIVE – Apprentice C. Bayliss was reprimanded for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. In determining penalty stewards were mindful of apprentice Bayliss’ total use of the whip in the home straight.

SLALOM – M. Hellyer reported at scale that as a result of the slow tempo set in the early stages he elected to allow his mount to stride forward and take up a leading position near the 1200m.

Following the running of this race the track was downgraded to SOFT 7.

Race 2: LOCKYER HOTEL FOREST HILL CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1600M

The start of this race was delayed when LEGS UNBARRED proved difficult to load.

LEGS UNBARRED – Commenced to race erratically shortly after the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer W. Bannerot was advised that LEGS UNBARRED must perform satisfactorily in an official trial before being permitted to race again.

GLENBAWNS DUTCHESS – Bumped at the start. When questioned regarding the horse’s seemingly improved performance, trainer T. Sears stated that the filly was back in grade and he was expecting a forward showing given today’s prevailing track conditions.

CHAMPAGNE KISSES – Began awkwardly and made contact with GLENBAWNS DUTCHESS. Bumped on a number of occasions in the straight.

LUCKY THREE SEVENS – Stewards accepted trainer G. Cornish’s explanation for the late declaration of S. Drake as rider. Held up entering the home straight and attempted to shift out on a number of occasions, making contact with CHAMPAGNE KISSES.

Stewards advised Mr Cousins that if the mare was to continue racing it would be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to racing again.

CASINO BLUE – Slow to begin. Over the concluding stages had to be steadied from the heels of GULLY GOSH, which shifted out under pressure. Apprentice A. Sewell, the rider of GULLY GOSH, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Race 4: QN HOTEL LAIDLEY MAIDEN H'CAP – 1400M

DHAMBA – Bumped heavily near the 400m and had to be checked from the heels of GREENBANK ROAD when MOSS PRINCESS shifted out to avoid the heels of COURTING JOY, which compounded quickly.
