Race 1: Grantham Premium Farm Workers Resort CG&E Maiden Plate – 1100m

The start of this race was delayed to await the arrival of the ambulance on course.

Correct weight was delayed to afford stewards the opportunity to view the dead-heat photo-finish print for 4th placing. Subsequently stewards confirmed the Judge’s decision and correct weight was semaphored placings.

COMMAND TROOP - A pre-race examination of the horse which had not started since May 2015 cleared the gelding the race.

LUCKSBURY – Slow to begin.

CHEVYS DESIRE – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race.


Race 2: McCullough Robertson/Generg F&M Maiden Plate – 1100m

DANCING ANGEL – Began awkwardly and shifted out, bumping another runner. Laid out rounding the home turn, taking another runner wider.

ROTINDY- Bumped at the start.

GOLDEN RAINBOWS – Hampered between runners at the start and lost ground. Taken wider rounding the home turn.

SKYLAR’S STAR – Slow to begin. Bumped entering the home straight and taken wider on the track.

STUNNING SHOW – Slow to begin. Leaving the 600m shifted out wider on the track to improve and remained wide for the remainder of the race.

IMPERIOUS ROSE – Taken wider rounding the home by another runner.

RED BLANKET – Held up leaving the 200m until the 100m where it shifted out to obtain clear running. Stewards questioned the tactics adopted by apprentice M. Schrapel from the 600m until entering the home straight. Apprentice Schrapel advised that his instructions were to settle back and ride for luck as the mare has a history of overracing and hanging in its races, and also possesses a short sprint. Trainer Mr R. Lipp confirmed the instructions and was satisfied with the ride and performance today, and in his opinion would better suited to distances further than that of today’s event. Stewards, whilst accepting the explanation given, advised apprentice M. Schrapel in future not to leave his rides open to question.

CORAL SEAS – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race.


Race 3: Pickles Auctions/IGA Hatton Vale F&M BenchMark 55 H’cap – 1100m

MS SARANDON - The start of the race was delayed when the horse proved difficult to load. Trainer C. Allardyce was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its barrier manners. Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide without cover in the early stages.

LEGS UNBARRED – Severely tightened for room at the start between runners and then lost considerable ground.

COCKTAIL THONG – Began awkwardly and shifted out.

MAGIC BY DESIGN – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.

SCARLET JANE – Apprentice L. Dodds was fined $100 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.


Race 4: Connor O’Meara Class 1 H’cap – 860m

MRS MONASHEE – Severely tightened for room at the start between runners and then lost considerable ground.

TAUGHT BY THE BEST – Slow to begin.

DRUNK IN LOVE – Raced wide without cover.

AVALANCHE WARNING – Raced wide for the majority of the race.


Race 5: Lockyer Valley Regional Council Cup BenchMark 60 H’cap – 2000m

PALMER – Began awkwardly and then shortly after was tightened for room between runners.

NOVATIVE – When the pace slackened near the 1400m shifted out and allowed to stride forward in a 3 wide position for the remainder of the race.

THERE’S NEMO – Jockey B. Appo dropped his left rein on entering the home straight.

MYSTERIUM – Jockey J. Stanley reported at scale him mount felt sore on return to the enclosure. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse had lost its off fore plate and was found to be lame in the off fore central frog. Trainer C. Jordan was advised that veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.

BLOOMERANG – On return to scale jockey N. Tomizawa advised that when the pace slackened near the 1400m he settled further back in the field than anticipated and then approaching the 600m was left flatfooted when the pace quickened and proved disappointing.


Race 6: Lockyer Valley Residental Village CG&E BenchMark 55 H’cap – 1100m

BRUMBY JACK – Tightened for room between runners shortly after the start.

GREAT GRATS – Began awkwardly and shifted in.

GENERAL COS – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

KARAHARAGA – Held up approaching the 300m and until the 80m where it was able to shift in to obtain clear running.

MAN OVERBOARD – Raced wide for the majority of the race without cover.

ASTI CHOPS – Raced 3 wide for the majority of the race.


Race 7: Tursa Employment & Training/River 949 Class 3 Plate – 1400m

ALL OUR WIVES – On return to scale, apprentice A. Spinks advised that his mount hung out for the majority of the race and pulled up sore on return to the enclosure. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off fore sesamoid. Trainer R. Mackay was advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided for the horse prior to its next race start.

ELSARAY – Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide without cover in the early stages. Was allowed to stride forward until obtaining the lead at the 900m.

PINBALL DAWN – Tightened for room at the start. Forced wider on the track when entering the home straight by another runner, which hung out.

DUBLEO’S LAD - Forced wider on the track when entering the home straight by another runner, which hung out.

RUN LOUIE RUN – Forced wider on the track when entering the home straight by another runner, which hung out.
