GENERAL
 
As Apprentice T. Wheeler was not attending the meeting today due to injury, riding replacements were made in Races 4 and 6 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Apprentice T. Wheeler will be required to provide a medical clearance prior to next riding.
 
As Apprentice J. Morrow was not attending the meeting today due to illness, a riding replacement was made in Race 10 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: LOCKYER VALLEY PAINTING MAIDEN PLATE – 1100M
 
MONTE SANTO – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
OUR BOY TRAV – Raced wide with cover in the early and middle stages.
 
BISHOJO – Steadied from heels for a short distance approaching the 650m.
 
EAGER STREET – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
GIBBO’S GIRL – On return to scale, jockey L. Tilley advised that his mount shied at the winning post at the conclusion of the race.
 
Race 2: PORTERS PLAINLAND HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE – 1100M
 
FORENSIC AUDITOR – Began awkwardly. Became awkwardly placed at heels for a short distance approaching the 500m and shifted wider on the track. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
KENNEDY TERRACE – Began awkwardly and made contact with a runner to its outside. Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
VIKING CLAP – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
DE NOVA STELLA – Tightened runners to its outside shortly after the start.
 
IMPECCABLY – Shifted in shortly after the start and, as a result, tightened runners to its inside.
 
FEI LIAN – Bumped by another runner to its inside on jumping. Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground when runners to either side shifted ground.
 
KALLIE – Raced wide with cover throughout. Laid in in the home straight.
 
MINAJ A STAR – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
SPECIAL FLIGHT – Steadied from heels for a short distance approaching the 800m.
 
Race 3: OZLAV PLUMBING QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1100M
 
FIVE OXFORD – Began awkwardly.
 
MR BROSE – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover in the middle stages. Laid in in the home straight.
 
IN HAVANA – Slow to begin. Raced wide with cover in the middle stages.
 
LITTLE MISS PIXIE – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 800m.
 
MISSY MILE – Improved onto heels and had to be restrained for a short distance approaching the 500m. Shifted out across heels to secure clear running leaving the 200m.
 
SINGLE SKIP – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SMALL REWARD – Bumped by KATINA THE CAT approaching the 800m.
 
KATINA THE CAT – Shifted out and bumped a runner to its outside approaching the 800m.
 
Race 4: MCNEIL FARMS MAIDEN H’CAP – 1400M
 
The start of this race was delayed to enable the broadcast of an interstate event.
 
THATFRIDAYFEELING – When questioned by Stewards in relation to the seemingly improved performance, trainer M. Lakey advised that this was the gelding’s first start for his stable however, in his opinion, the horse had continued to improve in the weeks leading up to today’s race and he had therefore expected a positive performance.
 
STRATA KING – Raced wide in the early stages before settling in a leading position near the 1100m.
 
DECOR DEELS – Bumped by another running on jumping. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
EMPIRE DAY – Began awkwardly and made contact with a runner to its outside.
 
ETHEREUM – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground. Raced wide without cover in the middle stages.
 
ZEDAQUA – Slow to begin. Raced wide with cover in the middle stages.
 
STONEFISH – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 5: LOCKYER VALLEY WASTE MANAGEMENT MAIDEN H’CAP – 1400M
 
The start of this race was delayed to enable the broadcast of an interstate event.
 
TOP PASS – Slow to begin.
 
RED RIVER LAD – Began awkwardly and made contact with PADDLEPOP. Raced keenly with its head in the air approaching the 1100m and lost ground. Steadied from heels near the 200m and again near the 50m.
 
GOMATHI – Laid in in the home straight and proved difficult to ride out.
 
INCORRUPTIBILITY – Trainer K. Baumann advised that it would be the intention for the gelding to be ridden further forward in the field today if circumstances permit. The gelding subsequently settled in a midfield position.
 
REFLECTIVE – Hung out leaving the 1100m and forced another runner wider on the track. Disappointed for a run approaching the 100m, and shifted out to secure clear running.
 
RUFFIN’ IT – Forced wider on the track by a runner to its inside leaving the 1100m.
 
HOWITZER – Slow to begin.
 
LITTLE NATURAL – Raced wide without cover in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
PADDLEPOP – Bumped by another runner on jumping. Improved onto heels approaching the 800m and had to restrained for a short distance and, as a result, lost ground.
 
Race 6: TAB CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1600M
 
JARHEAD – Improved onto heels approaching the 1350m and had to be restrained for short distance.
 
PRINCE OF ARRAN – Slow into stride
 
COMBATIVITE – On return to scale, jockey A. Fancourt reported that her mount felt short in its action on returning to the mounting yard. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had sustained an injury to its near fore tendon. The trainer’s representative for T. Gollan was advised that the mare will require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing.
 
SHACKLES – Forced wider on the track by a runner to its inside leaving the 1100m.
 
IT’S THYME – Trainer K. Baumann advised that it would be the intention for the gelding to be ridden further forward in the field today if circumstances permit. The gelding subsequently settled in a midfield position.
 
POLE VOLTER – Raced keenly for a short distance approaching the 1100m. Raced wide without cover in the early stages.
 
GET OUTA UTAH – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid out in the home straight.
 
TYCOON PLAYER – Threw its head in the air for a short distance near the 1100m and lost ground.
 
NICCONI BAY – Shifted out leaving the 1100m and forced another runner wider on the track.
 
Race 7: AGRICULTURAL REQUIREMENTS RATINGS BAND 0-55 H’CAP – 1100M
 
HARRY’S STAR – Began awkwardly and made contact with GLENBAWNS DUTCHESS.
 
GREY COURT – Tightened for room by a runner to its outside shortly after the start and lost ground. Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages before obtaining a position on the fence approaching the 500m.
 
THE HOOLIGAN – Began awkwardly and bumped a runner to its inside. When questioned by Stewards in relation to the gelding’s seemingly improved performance, trainer B. Andrew advised that he had been disappointed with the gelding’s previous preparation where it performed below expectation on a number of occasions. He added that based on that preparation he had spelled the gelding, and since returning it had worked well in preparation for today’s first up event. He went on to say that, in his opinion, the gelding was better suited over the 1100m of today’s race.
 
SUPER LEON – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start and lost ground and, as a result, settled at the rear of the field.
 
FLYING FROG – Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 800m.
 
GRACE OF MONACO – Tightened for room on jumping, and was then further tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
STORM ANCHOR – Began awkwardly and tightened a runner to its outside. Jockey K. Gates was fined $300 for using her whip on STORM ANCHOR when it was out of contention. Trainer R. Drysdale advised that in light of today’s poor performance it is now his intention to retire the gelding. Nevertheless, Stewards advised Mr. Drysdale that the gelding would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing, and would be barred from competing at provincial meetings until such time as its form improves.
 
Race 8: RAY BACHMANN REAL ESTATE RATINGS BAND 0-55 H’CAP – 1100M
 
The start of this race was delayed when ORSETTO broke through the front of the barriers and travelled a short distance before being restrained. Upon returning to the barriers with the assistance of the Clerk of the Course, the gelding was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.
 
EMOTIVE MOUNTAIN – Slow to begin.
 
DE VEGA PEACH – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
HERECUM DA DRUMS – Tightened for room and checked when COACHES AWARD shifted out approaching the 200m. Apprentice S. Tomlinson, the rider of COACHES AWARD, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift out approaching the 200m when insufficiently clear of HERECUM DA DRUMS which was tightened for room and checked. Apprentice S. Tomlinson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence at midnight on Sunday 17 May 2020 and conclude at midnight on Wednesday 27 May 2020. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration Apprentice Tomlinson’s guilty plea and his prior good record in relation to this rule.
 
TOFU MICK – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 9: ROCK TRADE INDUSTRIES FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1400M
 
HANNAH’S SONG – Placed in restricted room after passing the winning post when NORTHERN DRAGON shifted out. Apprentice S. Tomlinson, the rider of NORTHERN DRAGON, was reprimanded as a result of this incident.
 
NORTHERN DRAGON – Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 1300m. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
PAT’S GIRL – Raced wide with cover in the early and middle stages.
 
DEVILLAIN – Slow to begin.
 
MOANA MARIE – Raced wide without cover in the early stages.
 
PIGINARKI – Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
 
EVENING – Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 1300m.
 
Race 10: HAYMANS ELECTRICAL GATTON COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1400M
 
The start of this race was delayed when BOBBY AXELROD made contact with the barrier when being loaded. The gelding underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to take its place in the field.
 
KING ALFONSO – Began awkwardly and made contact with a runner to its inside.
 
MISTER WARD – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
BOBBY AXELROD – When questioned by Stewards in relation to the seemingly improved performance, trainer B. Robinson advised that on paper the gelding’s recent form may appear poor, however he had not been entirely disappointed with its performances when in stronger classed races on those occasions. He added that, in his opinion, it was a significant advantage that the gelding was able to find an uncontested leading position on the tight turning track today, and he was therefore not entirely surprised that it was successful today.
 
THE KNIGHT – Bumped by a runner to its outside on jumping.
 
NICE RETORT – Jumped with its head in the air and lost ground. 
 
METALLURGIST – When questioned by Stewards in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance, jockey A. Allen advised that the gelding did not travel confidently at any stage on the tight turning circuit, and had a tendency to run off the track on the turns, however he could offer no other explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
Race 11: TFB HIRE BENCHMARK 68 H’CAP – 860M
 
GODFATHER’S GIRL – Slow into stride.
 
LILLI LIGHTS OUT – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
GIDDYUP – Reared in the barriers on a number of occasions prior to the start being effected.
