O’Connell, the rider of SIZZLING DIAMOND, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey L. Tilley advised that after beginning poorly, his mount settled further back in the field than anticipated, and when he elected to stride forward approaching the 600m, and again at the 300m, he was disappointed for a run on both occasion.
