Hanson General-As P Randall and apprentice A Thompson were both injured and G Geran was ill, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.Race 1: GATTON VIEW HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE – 1100MBRACKEN-Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Jockey C Taylor reported the gelding raced greenly during the event and proved difficult to ride out in the home straight. Laid in under pressure near the 50m and had to be steadied from heels.DATAI- Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Made the home turn wide.SINGLE SNIP- Jockey Andrew Spinks reported the filly hung out in the home straight.YOUPE- Slow to begin and raced greenly during the event.ARATULA- Raced wide during the early stages. Jockey N Morton was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100m, 5 more than permitted.Race 2: AGRICULTURE REQUIREMENTS MAIDEN H’CAP – 1400MMAGIC WHISPERS- After being kicked behind the barriers by another runner, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 1:55pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on MAGIC WHISPERS be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 1:55pm:8 cents in the dollar for the win #711 cents in the dollar for place of winner #710 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #68 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #1The start was further delayed when REG ‘N’ KATH broke through the barriers after being loaded. Once returned to the barriers was examined by the veterinary surgeon and subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 2:00pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on REG ‘N’ KATH be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed between 1:55pm and 2:00pm:5 cents in the dollar for the win #77 cents in the dollar for place of winner #78 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #66 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #1LOVE HURTS- Slow into stride.BARBICAN- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 1000m and again near the 850m, improved onto heels and was steadied. Brushed by another runner near the 100m. Jockey L Tilley was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.DOTNED-Hung out rounding the turn near the 1100m. SPICE TRADER- Apprentice M Kennedy reported her saddle slipped backwards during the early stages and as a consequence placed her at a disadvantage for the remainder. Stewards questioned Trainer P Nolan (Jnr) in relation to the seemingly improved performance. Mr Nolan advised that as the gelding was 2nd up from a spell today, it derived a significant fitness advantage from its first up run. He added that he had also removed the tongue tie and added blinkers to the geldings gear for today’s event and based on those factors he had expected an improved performance in todays event.ROARING SPIRIT- Laid out rounding the home turn. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Jockey S Lacy, advised due to the strong tempo during the event the gelding did not travel strongly on the bit during throughout. She added that the gelding made the home turn awkwardly whilst racing greenly and in her opinion was not suited by the tight turning track. Stewards noted the explanation.DAUNTING ADVENTURE- Forced wider on the track by another runner near the 1100m.LICENCE TO ROCK- Brushed by another runner near the 100m. Steadied from heels over the concluding stages.Race 3: LOCKYER VALLEY WASTE MANAGEMENT CLASS 3 H’CAP – 800MAs M Murphy was overweight, he was replaced as the rider of WOOLSEY by J Taylor. Jockey Murphy was fined $100 under AR190(3).BETAJET- Slow into stride. Trainer’s representative for B Smith was advised a $200 fine would apply for failing to notify a rider for the gelding by the prescribed time. Stewards questioned trainer’s representative in relation to the improved performance in comparison to its most recent start. He advised that the gelding performed disappointingly at its most recent start and for that reason it was spelled immediately following that event. He added that prior to this, the geldings form, in his opinion, was strong and therefore after returning from a spell, the stable was expecting a forward showing in today’s event. Stewards noted the explanation. GOOD GRAB- Began awkwardly losing ground. Momentarily eased near the 100m.NEWS DIRECTOR- Hung out rounding the home turn and dipped upon straightening.UNCLE FRANK- Hung out throughout. Jockey N Evans could offer no explanation for the below market expectation performance of the gelding. Trainer S Kirkwood advised that as the gelding was first up from a spell in today’s event it would derive a fitness benefit from today’s event. He also added that he would experiment with the horses gear moving forward in its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. WOOLSEY- Approaching the 150m, was obliged to shift out to secure clear running.MOCKING- Near the 100m was forced to race in restricted room between BETAJET which shifted in and VELVET AREOPLANE which shifted out under pressure.Race 4: PORTERS PLAINLAND HOTEL COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES RATINGS BAND 0-55 H’CAP – 1100MCYCLONE KAYCEE- Apprentice S Tomlinson could offer no explanation in relation to the performance of the gelding which was shortened noticeably in betting. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.CRISTOVAO- Slow to begin.WHISTLINDIXIE LAD- Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.EMOTIVE MOUNTAIN- Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.HARRY’S STAR- Raced 3 wide in the early stages.CAPTAIN CRUMPET- Raced 3 wide for the majority of the event. HERECUM DA DRUMS- Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 200m.MASTER OF NORWAY- Laid in under pressure in the home straight.DARCI’S MONEY- Hung out rounding the home turn.Race 5: RIDING FOR ABBIE FILLIES & MARES RATING BAND 0-55 H’CAP – 1100MPETITE ELLE- Raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained in the early and middle stages.ALLE VONGOLE- Began awkwardly.JESSINA- Bumped on jumping away.UNTOLD SECRETS- Began awkwardly bumping another runner and lost ground.PADDLES- Slow to begin and was then buffeted between runners shortly after the start and lost further ground. Raced wide without cover for the majority. Steadied from heels over the concluding stages.HEATHER JOAN- Buffeted between runners shortly after the start and lost ground.OBJECTIVE- Forced wider on the track by another runner near the 800m and then raced wide for the remainder.YOUR OPINON- Hung out near the 800m and shifted wider on the track.THAT’S HER I THINK- Began awkwardly and then blundered shortly after the start. Made contact with the rail near the 600m. Steadied when awkwardly placed at heels near the 400m.Race 6: ROCK TRADIE INDUSTRIES CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1600MROULETTE ROYAL- Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which tailed off, revealed it to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer B Loakes was advised he would be required to obtain a veterinary certificate for the gelding prior to it next racing.CAMOUFLAGE GIRL- Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.ZOFGOLD- Held up approaching 300m and was then disappointed for a run and lost ground.PHANTOM SHADOW- Laid in under pressure in the home straight.GREY COURT- Laid in under pressure in the home straight.NO MORE BIDS- For some distance passing the 200m has difficulty securing clear running.TICINO BELLE- Near the 50m, raced in restricted room when PHANTOM SHADOW shifted in under pressure. Jockey T Marshall could offer no explanation for the below market expectation performance. Trainer D Forster could also offer no tangible explanation for the performance other that in her opinion the mare may not have been suited by the quick backup from its most recent start. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.Race 7: TRADIES DAY SATURDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1400MSIZZLING DIAMOND- Declared a late scratching for reasons deemed acceptable by stewards at 1:41pm.MODERN FAMILY- Began awkwardly and bumped another runner.WEARETENFORTYEIGHT- Slow to begin.KENTFORD- Bumped on jumping away. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.PATRIOTIC ROSE- Bumped on the hindquarters near the 1000m. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the event.MIGHTY MOOSE- After being caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader near the 850m.KOTA FLYER- Hung out approaching the 1100m. Steadied from heels near the 850m.THE KNIGHT- When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, trainer J Dunn advised that at the geldings most recent run its tongue tie was dislodged in running which placed it at a disadvantage on that occasion. He added that in his opinion the strength of this race was far weaker than which it had been competing in at recent starts.
