GENERAL
 
As jockey T. Marshall was injured rider replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
 
Race 1: TAB MAIDEN H’CAP (2) – 1000M
 
TOP TINKA – Began awkwardly. Raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained for a short distance approaching the 900m. Laid out it the early stages of the home straight.
 
SIR EDMUND – Slow to begin.
 
JUST LIKE RULER – Steadied from heels whilst laying in near the 200m.
 
I WANT YOUR LOVE – Raced three wide throughout. Hung out throughout.
 
 
Race 2: VANDERFIELD (JOHN DEERE) GATTON MAIDEN H’CAP (1) – 1100M  
 
As jockey J. Woodhouse was to be overweight, jockey M. Hellyer was substituted as the rider of ARCADIAN SHORES. Jockey Woodhouse was fined $200 under AR190(3).
 
The start was initially delayed when FINAL DRUM underwent a veterinary examination at the request of its rider and was subsequently cleared to start.
 
The start was further delayed when MADCALL and FINAL DRUM broke through the barriers after being loaded. Once retuned to the barriers both horses were examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
 
BRACKEN – Raced in restricted room at the 850m. Steadied from heels near the 100m when ENRAGED shifted in. Jockey H. Richardson (ENRAGED) was reprimanded under AR.131(a) for careless riding. When questioned in relation to the below market expectation performance, Jockey N. Tomizawa explained that the gelding failed to travel throughout and, in his opinion, it is better suited over distances further than that of today’s event.
 
ARCADIAN SHORES – Tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
PARANOIA – Tightened for room shortly after the start. When racing in restricted room had to be steadied near the 850m
 
MADCALL – Approaching the 800m raced with its head in the air when being restrained. Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in in the home straight.
 
FINAL DRUM – Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
 
Race 3: AGRICULTURAL REQUIREMENTS QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP (1) – 1100M  
 
The start was delayed when SPIRIT BLUE became fractious in the barriers, was examined by the veterinary surgeon, and subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 12:19pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on SPIRIT BLUE be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 12:19pm:
 
4 cents in the dollar for the win #3
5 cents in the dollar for place of winner #3
12 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #7
8 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #11
 
 
WINN’EM – Hung out throughout. Near the 200m shifted out abruptly.
 
JELLISHOT – Tightened for room shortly after the start and then a short distance later clipped heels and blundered.
 
HIDDEN GLADE – Hung out in the home straight, proving difficult to ride out. Trainer D. Bougoure was advised that a warning would be placed against the gelding. Jockey B. Stewart was fined $600 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on nine occasions prior to the 100m, which is four more than permitted.
 
YOU DREAMT WHAT – Steadied from heels near the 850m. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
LADY LANCASTER – Began awkwardly.
 
BUSTED KUSTED – Tightened for room at the start.
 
BACIO VINCENTE – Tightened for room at the start. Raced wide with cover throughout. Inconvenienced near the 200m by WINN’EM which shifted out abruptly.
Race 4: NIKKI CHALK ART + DESIGN QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP (2) – 1100M  
 
MILLCHESTER – Tightened for room and lost ground at the start. Laid in in the home straight. Steadied from heels near the 200m when CUE THE CONQUER shifted out. Apprentice S. Tomlinson (CUE THE CONQUER) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
MISS TWENTY TWO – Began awkwardly. Jockey J. Taylor reported that the filly raced greenly throughout.
 
QUARTER PAST – Tightened for room and lost ground at the start.
 
MISHANI MORTAL – Jockey J. Lyon was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, which is two more than permitted.
 
SONIC ARROW – Laid in in the home straight.
 
Race 5: KLUCK FARMS MAIDEN PLATE – 1400M
 
The start was initially delayed when ROYALSPECTOR proved difficult to load. 
 
The start was further delayed when MISHANI HEART proved difficult to load.
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed enable Stewards to view the photo finish image of the dead-heating runners for 3rd place. After viewing the image, Stewards were satisfied with the judges numbers and declared correct weight.
 
MISHANI HEART – Shifted out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
CAMPUS BELL – Raced wide in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare which tailed off, revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer M. Bailey advised that in light of today’s poor performance it is now his intention to retire the gelding. Nevertheless, Stewards advised Mr. Bailey that the mare would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing and would be barred from competing at metropolitan and provincial meetings until such time as its form improves.
 
REDENZO BULLET – Raced wide throughout.
 
REDZEB – Laid in in the home straight.
 
Race 6: ROUND BALES FOR SALE - CONTACT LVTC BM 58 H’CAP – 860M
 
TOECANARGIE MAN – Bumped heavily at the start. When questioned in relation to the above market expectation performance. Trainer R. Coveney explained that it was the geldings fourth run back after a 12month spell and that, at the first two runs back, the gelding derived from a fitness benefit. He also stated that at its last start at Chinchilla the gelding was only beaten by two lengths and was satisfied with its run on that occasion. He explained that the gelding had now reached peak fitness and based on its run a Chinchilla and its work subsequent to that run he had expected a forward showing performance today.
 
NEWS DIRECTOR – Bumped heavily at the start.
 
CRISTOVAO – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
 
WOOHOO GIRL – Steadied from heels of SOMEBODY’S GIRL near the 750m.
 
HOLLYDEEN – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.
 
FOOLIN’ AROUND - Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 7: ROCK TRADE INDUSTRIES BM 58 H’CAP (1) – 1100M
 
HARRY’S STAR – Due to transport issues arrived on course late. A pre-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no apparent abnormalities. Raced three wide without cover throughout. Jockey A. Fancourt was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, which is two more than permitted.
 
SECLUDE – Tightened for room for a considerable distance on jumping before losing ground approximately 50m after the start.
 
INSTABEATS – Post-race veterinary examination of the gelding displayed upper respiratory noise.
 
ENTILEMENT - Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, which is one more than permitted.
 
INKY BAY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Race 8: ROYAL GEORGE HOTEL ROSEWOOD BM 58 H’CAP (2) – 1100M
 
The start was delayed when BIG JAKE broke through the barriers and galloped riderless for a considerable distance before being recaptured. BIG JAKE was subsequently declared a late scratching by Stewards at 3:19pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on BIG JAKE be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 3:19pm:

CAPITAL CITY – Began awkwardly.
 
LEROY ROCKS – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
BURNING SUCCESS - Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground, as a result settled further back than anticipated.
 
ANNIE ETHYL – Bumped heavily by BURNING SUCCESS shortly after the start.
 
MISS BULITZ – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
SHE’LL STRYKEYA – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
Race 9: TRADIES DAY SATURDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BM 58 H’CAP – 1400M
 
Correct weight was delayed when the fourth placegetter, Jockey R. Palmer (THE KNIGHT) requested to view the patrol films to ascertain whether she had grounds to lodge a protest against the second placegetter TONY’S DECREE (apprentice W. Peel). After viewing the films, jockey Palmer advised that she did not wish to proceed with the protest.
 
I’M FAVULOUS – Began awkwardly.
 
TONY’S DECREE – Laid in in the home straight.
 
BEAU TIRAGE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Jockey advised that her instructions were to ride more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
NICE RETORT – Reared and struck it head on the barrier as the start was affected and lost ground as a result. Post-race veterinary examination revealed contusion to the front of its head.
 
THE KNIGHT – Momentarily inconvenienced over the concluding stages by TONY’S DECREE which laid in under pressure.
 
CANDESCENCE – Raced wide without cover early and middle stages.
 
GOTTA BE FIRST - Jockey M. Schrapel was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m, which is three more than permitted.
 
 
Race 10: MEMORIAL/APPRENTICE CUP DAY FRIDAY 16TH OCTOBER F&M BM 58 H’CAP – 1400M
 
PRIVATE PROFIT – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room and lost ground near the 1200m.
