QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT LOCKYER VALLEY TURF CLUB GATTON – THURSDAY 12TH NOVEMBER 2020 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 RAIL – TRUE ENTIRE COURSE PENETROMETER – OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R HitchenerStewards – J Childs, P McLean, P Jenkins, B McErleanClerk of Scales – J HackettJudge – S Fahey, P ChiltonVeterinarian – N HamillSwab Attendants – J PedofskyStarter – R HansonStewards Secretary – B McErlean Race 1: ROCK TRADE INDUSTRIES Maiden Handicap 860 metres The start was delayed when AONACH MOR became fractious in the barriers. The gelding was removed from the barriers and underwent a veterinary examination and was subsequently passed fit to start. The start was further delayed when DINKLAGE broke through the barriers and galloped a short distance before being restrained by its rider. Upon returning to the barriers the gelding was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. AONACH MOR- Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight. THE POWER OF ONE- Slow into stride. Laid out rounding the home turn. OUR SHANIA- Tightened for room at the start. Near the 250m was steadied to avoid heels when ZARAGIGI was taken out by PEONY ROSE which was forced wider by DULC ‘N’ LEN which shifted out to secure clear running. R Goldsbury, the rider of DULC ‘N’ LEN was advised to exercise more care. Raced greenly during the event. ZARAGIGI- Steadied to avoid heels shortly after the start. PEONY ROSE- Raced keenly in the early stages. Forced wider when awkwardly placed at heels in the early stages of the home straight. PROUDLY GREY- Began awkwardly. EYE ROLLER- Near the 700m improved onto heels and was steadied. Race 2: THANK YOU CORAL Maiden Plate 1400 metres The start was delayed when EL RANCHOS and GOLDKIND both broke through the barriers and galloped a short distance before being restrained by their riders. Upon returning to the barriers both horses were examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. HARRYUP- Raced 3 wide without cover from a point near the 800m. Jockey B Ainsworth was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. JUDGE JORDY- After beginning only fairly was then tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. POTAWATOMI- Jockey N Tomizawa was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. GOLDKIND- Began awkwardly. LOVE IS ALL AROUND- Laid out rounding the home turn. Jockey J Bayliss was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the conclusion of the event. Jockey J Bayliss pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 11 occasions prior to the 100m, 6 times more than permitted. Jockey J Bayliss’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 22 days, to commence midnight 21/11/20 and to expire midnight 13/12/20. In determining penalty Stewards considered the severity of the breach and noted that this was Jockey Bayliss’ 7th breach of this rule since the introduction of the rider penalty guidelines for whip rule breaches. BOLD ANGEL- Bounded on jumping away and as a result lost ground. Blundered badly on pulling up. As a result of this incident Jockey L Tilley reported some discomfort in his right knee. EL RANCHOS – Jockey J Murphy was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted. Race 3: TAB Maiden Plate 1100 metres Jockey T Harrison (TEMUJIN LASS) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that passing the 900m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of VERVE (A Bakos) resulting in that runner being eased and forced inwards resulting in ROZEIRA (M Savva) and JONDY ALL SET (T Wheeler) both being tightened for room. Jockey Harrison then continued to permit her mount to shift in resulting in JONDY ALL SET clipping heels and blundering. In this incident ROZEIRA also clipped heels and blundered. Jockey Harrison’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 13 days to commence midnight 14/11/20 and to expire midnight 27/11/20. In considering penalty Stewards determined the incident to fall into the high range, however were mindful of Jockey Harrison’s guilty plea, good record and submissions with respect to penalty. VERVE- Steadied to avoid heels leaving the 900m. WOODY WOOD DUCK- Began awkwardly. BLUE CORNER- Bumped on jumping and then raced in restricted room shortly after the start.Near the 800m steadied to avoid the heels of REGAL EYES which shifted in when not completely clear. Jockey M Gray was advised to exercise more care. EULEILAH- Began awkwardly. ROZEIRA- Tightened for room leaving the 900m and clipped heels and blundered a short distance later. JONDY ALL SET- Slow to begin. Clipped heels and blundered leaving the 900m. REGAL EYES- Began awkwardly and was then tightened for room shortly after the start. Race 4: AGRICULTURAL REQUIREMENTS Colts, Geldings & Entires RATINGS BAND 0 - 5 1100 metres MAGIC MYSTERY- Slow into stride. Near the 700m was severely inconvenienced resulting in the rider almost being dislodged when making heavy contact with a fallen horse. SCARE CAMPAIGN- Slow to begin. Near the 200m steadied to avoid heels whilst laying in. SPECTATE- Tightened for room at the start. At the 700m forced very wide on the track to take evasive action to avoid a fallen horse. CRISTOVAO- Slow to begin. At the 700m forced very wide on the track to take evasive action to avoid a fallen horse. DARCI'S MONEY – As the gelding was 12 years old it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Near the 700m the gelding faulted and fell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have suffered a serious offside shoulder injury and was subsequently euthanised on humane grounds. Trainer K Brewster reported following the race that the gelding had worked well in preparation for today’s event. She further advised that she had not observed any ailments or injuries with the gelding and added there had been no pre-existing concerns with the horses physical condition in preparation for today’s event. Post-mortem blood and urine samples were taken from the gelding and Stewards further ordered that a post-mortem be undertaken on the gelding. THE EXHIBITIONIST- Near the 500m steadied after improving onto heels. OAKFIELD GERONIMO- Laid in in the early stages. Near the 400m steadied when SHEER IMPLUSE shifted in when not completely clear. Jockey Hellyer the rider of SHEER IMPLUSE was issued a reprimand. Race 5: JASON DIETE - LOCKYER VALLEY PAINTING Class 4 Plate 860 metres Due to the fall in the previous event, all races were put back 1 time slot, with the final race rescheduled to 5:46pm. BID IN A HURRY- Stewards acceded to a request by Jockey A Spinks to ride the filly 1kg overweight. In considering the matter stewards were mindful that the filly’s allotted weight was only 51kg in this event. Bumped by another runner approaching the 100m. BETAJET- Steadied shortly after the start and was then slow into stride. GENERAL WITT-Buffered by another runner passing the 100m. JET A ONE- Near the 150m shifted in when struck with the whip making heavy contact with another runner before then shifting out making contact with a runner to its outside. LA MAESTRA- Laid out rounding the home turn. Jockey L Tilley was fined $300 for failing to ride his mount out to the conclusion of the event. Race 6: THANK YOU TO OUR WONDERFUL SPONSORS OF 2020! BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 2000 metres MOSS GO NOW- Slow to begin. CONSULAR- Forced very wide on the track by a runner which hung out exiting the home straight on the first occasion. ITSALLKAY- Took charge of its rider passing the winning post on the first occasion and shifted very wide on the track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer K Loy was advised the gelding would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing. THE POTATO PONTIFF- Stood flat footed at the start and was then reluctant to race and lost considerable ground. Trainer L Gore was advised the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to next racing. SPURIOUS- Jumped out at the start making heavy contact with another runner. When questioned as to the below market expectation performance Jockey T Harrison advised that the gelding travelled well until a point near the 700m however from this point commenced to yield ground and proved disappointing. Trainer Mr P Duff advised that in light of today’s performance he would recommend to connections that the gelding be sent for a spell. BADGE OF GAMENESS- Bumped heavily on jumping and as a result blundered. Jockey N Tomizawa was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. Race 7: KLUCK FARMS Fillies & Mares RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1100 metres SOGNI- Began only fairly and was then tightened for room shortly after the start. PLATEAU PEARL- Near the 900m steadied to avoid heels. Jockey P Payne pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(b) in that he failed to ride his mount out to the conclusion of the event. Jockey Payne’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 14-11-20 and to expire midnight 21-11-20. In considering penalty Stewards were of the opinion Jockey’s Payne’s actions may have cost his mount 3rd placing. MISS CHARLEE LYN- Jockey J Morris could offer no explanation for the seemingly disappointing performance. Mr Currie advised that in light of todays performance he would now review the mares future in his stable.FORGOTTEN FEELING- Raced very wide throughout without cover. OBJECTIVE- Bumped and became unbalanced shortly after the start. Raced wide without cover throughout. On returning to scale Jockey N Morton advised that the mare had a tendency to hang out throughout. Race 8: WISHING ALL OUR MEMBERS & PATRONS A MERRY CHRISTMAS! BENCHMARK 55 Hand 1400 metres ESSE- App. A Patis was the replacement rider for App. I Teh. REDZEB- Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority. RANGAS RULE- Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority. FORT MYER- Steadied when momentarily placed in restricted room near the 1100m. BY THE LAW- Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ESSE- Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority. CELTIC TIGER- Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
