GENERAL
 
Stewards acceded to a request from apprentice M Kennedy to be replaced as the rider of ISLA SURRENDER. N Thomas was the replacement rider on the gelding as there was no other suitable apprentice available.
 
Race 1: 1 TAB Maiden Handicap 860 metres
 
The start was delayed when EXPERT WITNESS proved difficult to load
 
ACCESS DENIED – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Hung out badly during the event before being eased down in the straight. Trainers representative for Mr J Smerdon was advised the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to next racing.
 
WHISKEY ROW – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority.
 
EXPERT WITNESS – Began awkwardly.
 
ISLA SURRENDER – Blundered rounding the home turn.
 
INFORMER – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
RAINING RICHES – Bumped on the hind quarters on jumping and became unbalanced. Laid in under pressure in the home straight proving difficult to ride out.
 
SILKAY – Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority.
 
KEEPMOVING FORWARD – As Jockey L Tilley was overweight, apprentice K Wilson-Taylor was the replacement rider on the gelding. Jockey L Tilley was issued a $200 fine under AR190(3) for accepting a ride which he was overweight.
 
Race 2: 2 PORTERS PLAINLAND HOTEL Maiden Plate 1100 metres
 
Following the running of race 2 the track was upgraded to a heavy 8.
 
KINGSFORD TIGER – Hung out from the 600m.
 
MY BOY DRAGON – Steadied from heels leaving the 800m.
 
MOMEMORY – Slow to begin.
 
Race 3: AGRICULTURAL REQUIREMENTS GATTON Maiden Plate 1100 metres
 
MADCALL – Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 200m was steadied when placed in restricted room when QWICK laid in and away form BIRCHIP TURF which shifted in under pressure.
 
QWICK – Forced wider on the track by another runner near the 850m and as a result raced 3 wide until a point near the 700m when restrained to a position one off the fence. Near the 150m whilst laying in was tightened for room and lost ground when BIRCHIP TURF shifted in marginally.
 
NINETYNINE STEPS – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
Race 4: MCNEIL FARMS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1100 metres
 
ANYWAY YOU WANT IT – Raced in restricted room and was eased shortly after the start.
 
NIRVANA NINJA – Tightened for room at the start. Buffered between runners for a considerable distance shortly after the start. Raced in restricted room and was eased near the 850m. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
 
AYEPEETEE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
BLACK MONACO – Hampered at the start. Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
RUBYEXPRESS – Began awkwardly.Apprentice J Cornish’s saddle shifted forward in the early stages placing her at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
 
WHISTLIN' RULER – Began awkwardly.
 
BUSTED KUSTED – Bumped on jumping losing ground.
 
Race 5: GATTON CUP SATURDAY 26TH JUNE Class 3 Handicap 1400 metres
 
HOSTAGE OF WAR – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the off fore.
 
REDZEB – Slow to begin. Jockey J Orman could offer no explanation for the below market expectation performance.
 
ABSOLUTE GLORY – Laid out rounding the turn near the 1100m and as a result was steadied when awkwardly placed at heels.
 
THE KNIGHT – The geldings tongue tie was displaced in running. Forced wider by another runner near the 1100m and as a consequence raced 3 wide without cover for the remainder. Jockey R Palmer was issued a $300 fine under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
Race 6: RIDING FOR ABBIE BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1400 metres
 
BAMBALAM – Over raced in the early and middles stages.
 
BILL OF RIGHTS – Jockey C Meehan was issued a $400 fine under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
RUN PAM RUN – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
PLATINUM DEAL – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
MINOAN SPIRIT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DRYSDALE SPIRIT – Held up rounding the home turn.

MIGHTY MOOSE – Apprentice J Cornish was issued a reprimand under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. Lost and off hind plate in running.
 
REAL APPEAL – Slow to begin.
 
SKYE AND ME – Bumped heavily on jumping.
 
TAHLAYLA – Jockey M Hellyer was issued a $300 fine under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
FROM NOW (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
SPOOLING – Laid in for the majority proving difficult to ride out in the home straight.
 
Race 8: MOZZIE MOBILE WELDING Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 55
Handicap 1100 metres
 
The start was delayed when DRIZZLE became fractious in the barriers. The filly underwent a veterinary examination and was subsequently declared a late scratching @3:26pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice.
 
Stewards ordered that all monies invested on DRIZZLE to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 3:26pm

Trainer B Lockwood was advised he would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate for the filly prior to next racing.
 
CRAFTY AQUILA – Slow into stride. Raced wide for the majority.
 
TALLAHASSEE LASSIE – Steadied to avoid heels near the 850m.
 
TROJAN ANGEL – Severely tightened for room near the 850m. At a subsequent inquiry Jockey S Lacy the rider of STRALEX pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(a) in that as the rider of that mare she permitted her mount to shift in near the 850m when insufficiently clear of WEARETENFORTYEIGHT which was severely tightened for room becoming unbalanced and shifting in resulting in TROJAN ANGEL begin severely tightened for room and losing ground. Jockey S Lacy’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 15 days to begin midnight 15th May and to expire midnight 30th May.
 
SILVAPLANA – Raced wide with cover for the majority.
 
WEARETENFORTYEIGHT – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority.
 
PRIMMISCUOUS – Tightened for room near the 850m.

The start was delayed when BY BY MUSIC proved difficult to load.
 
THE HOOLIGAN – Refused to jump taking no competitive part in the event. Trainer B Andrew was advised he would be required to obtain 2 barrier certificates for the gelding, 1 of which being in an official trial, prior to next racing.
 
BEL BEAU – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice M Savva was issued a $800 fine under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
GLOCK – Bumped on jumping.
 
GREY NOISE – Bumped on jumping. Held up approaching the home turn.
 
WHO SHOT MAGGIE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
ARRIVERDERCI ROMA – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
CLEAR THE BILL – Steadied shortly after the start when placed in restricted room.
 
SILVERBROOK LAD - Began awkwardly and then failed to muster early speed.
