GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweights for today’s meeting:
Race 2 – T. Brooker +1kg = 54kg
Race 9 – M. Powell +0.5kg = 55.5kg
Race 10 – T. Brooker +0.5kg = 55kg
Race 10 – A. Allen +0.5kg = 55kg
 
Race 8: TRACKMAN was declared a late scratching @ 8:09 am. Trainer T. Lambourn was fined $300 pursuant to LR 68(1) for failing to scratch by the prescribed time.
 
Trainer P. Wallace was reprimanded pursuant to LR 67(1) for the late declaration of rider for BEARNAS which was engaged in Race 6.
 
 
Race 1: QUEEN ELIZABETH MEMORIAL QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 860 metres
 
Start was delayed by approximately 5 minutes owing to the late arrival of the ambulance. The start of this event was further delayed when NAUGHTY WORDS refused to load and was declared a late scratching at 11.33am by order of Stewards. On declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on NAUGHTY WORDS be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st GLAMBORGHINI 30c win.
 
Trainers’ representative Mr B. Currie was advised that NAUGHTY WORDS will require a further barrier certificate prior to being permitted to start again.
 
BAG OF WHITT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after a tie up stall restraint became entangled in its mouth. No evidence of any injury was detected by the veterinary official and the gelding was cleared to start. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
GLAMBORGINI – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
UNO MOON – Slow to muster speed at the start.
 
 
Race 2: THE LOCKYER & SOMERSET INDEPENDENT Maiden Plate 860 metres
 
Upon arrival at the barriers, SLEEPDANCE underwent a veterinary inspection and was found to be lame in the left foreleg with the gelding being declared a late scratching at 11.58am on veterinary advice. On declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on SLEEPDANCE be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st BONGANI - 1c win, 4c place.
2nd BARNSBURY - 3c place.
3rd HUMOUR ME - 2c place.
 
Trainer G. Arnold was advised that SLEEPDANCE will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
 
MORE MAX – Began awkwardly and lost ground at the start. Held up approaching the home turn.
 
SPIRIT OF ZAZOU – Laid out at the 600m.
 
WITNESS ATTACK – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout and leaving the 500m was forced wider. Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
BARNSBURY – Slow to begin.
 
ROCKED – Slow to begin.
 
BONGANI – Shifted in under pressure in the straight.
 
WRITTEN PRINCESS – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed lameness in the left foreleg. Connections were advised that the filly will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
Race 3: GATTON REAL ESTATE Maiden Plate 1100 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed due to an interstate event running later than its allocated starting time.
 
HE’S A DEVIL – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
LOCK AND LAUNCH – Bumped with SINNAMON TOAST shortly after the start.
 
OUR MAGNUS – Slow to begin.
 
CRYSTALLIZATION – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
SINNAMON TOAST – Bumped with LOCK AND LAUNCH on jumping and became unbalanced.
 
UNIQUE ELLE – Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
DARK ORIGINS – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
HYPERION ANGEL – Laid out approaching the 500m and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
Race 4: MULGOWIE HOTEL Maiden Plate 1100 metres
 
After the running of race 3, track was upgraded to a Soft 6.
 
BUCKALTIUS – Shifted in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LION KING – Began awkwardly and shortly afterwards was hampered between runners. Rider P. Hammersley advised that shortly after jumping his saddle shifted backwards placing him at a disadvantage. He added that the gelding was not comfortable on the tighter racing circuit of today’s event and would be better suited on a bigger track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Stewards will follow up with trainer P. Quinlan in the coming days regarding the condition of the horse.
 
CRACKLE CAUSE – Hampered shortly after the start
 
TREMENDOUS – Bumped with KAPUA shortly after the start becoming unbalanced and shifted out.
 
READY SET ROLL – Hampered shortly after the start and had to be steadied.  
 
SO ODELIA – Leaving the 100m, shifted in under pressure before being corrected by its rider.
 
KAPUA – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping with TREMENDOUS.
 
RAZAMAGAZZ – Hampered shortly after the start.
 
DUCHESS BREE – Shortly after start raced in restricted room and had to be steadied and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 5: GATTON BUS SERVICE BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1100 metres
 
ULTIMATE POWER – Steadied from the heels of LAVELLE when that runner was checked and lost ground. Placed in restricted room approaching the 600m and had to be steadied and lost ground. Put in an awkward stride rounding the home turn.
 
SLY CORNER (NZ) – Obliged to race in restricted room leaving the 900m.
 
KATANAROCK – Began awkwardly. Gave ground over the concluding stages. Jockey B. Ainsworth advised Stewards that the gelding was first up from an extended break and that the gelding tended to lay out requiring her to continually have to straighten the horse. B. Ainsworth further added the gelding will take benefit for the run and may not have appreciated the addition of the tongue tie for today’s event. Stewards will follow up with trainer K. Baumann in the coming days regarding the condition of the horse.
 
AIN'TSHESERIOUS – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 600m shifted in before being corrected by its rider.
 
MANDALONG NERO – Shifted in under pressure in the home straight.
 
NEW YORK GAL – Began awkwardly. Obliged to race three wide without cover throughout. Bumped on the hindquarters rounding the home turn and became unbalanced.
 
PETA CALADA – Put in an awkward stride rounding the home turn.
 
TRY TO BE GOOD – Slow to begin.
 
ROCKATANSKY – Leaving the 900m had to be steadied from the heels of MANDALONG NERO which shifted in when not fully clear. Held up rounding the home turn. Bumped another runner rounding the home turn.
 
LAVELLE – Leaving the 900m, was tightened for racing room and had to be checked. JockeyM. Powell, the rider of MANDALONG NERO, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of ROCKATANSKY causing that runner to shift in to avoid the heels of MANDALONG NERO, forcing SLY CORNER inwards and resulting in LAVELLE which was positioned on the rail having to be checked by its rider and lose its rightful running. Jockey M. Powell had his license to ride in races suspended for a period of seven (7) days to commence midnight the 19th of September up to and including the 25th of September 2022 before permitted to resume riding in races on the 26th of September 2022. In determining penalty Stewards were mindful of Jockey Powell’s guilty plea and also the significant period of time since he had last offended under AR 131(a). Jockey M. Powell was advised of his right to internal review.  
 
Race 6: CAMPBELLS FABRICATION & ENGINEERING BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1100 metres
 
 
DAD'S LAD – Shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarters by BID IN A HURRY and became unbalanced. Laid in rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Approaching the 100m, continued to lay in and place its rider at a disadvantage.
 
BID IN A HURRY (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Shortly after the start raced in restricted room between STARS ‘N’ RICHES and DAD’S LAD and had to be checked from heels and lost ground. Leaving the 800m, was placed in restricted room to the inside of GREYT INTENTIONS which was taken inwards by CHICA BONITA and had to be steadied.
 
STARS 'N' RICHES – Shortly after the start shifted out and bumped with BID IN A HURRY for a number of strides and became unbalanced. Inconvenienced leaving the 800m. Raced wide throughout. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings. When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, apprentice Champkin advised that near the 800m she was inconvenienced by another runner shifting ground resulting in her racing wide from that point onwards. She further added that the filly normally settles back and runs on, however she felt that racing wide particularly from the 800m had a detrimental effect on its’ finishing performance. Apprentice S. Champkin was reprimanded under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on seven (7) occasions prior to the 100m.
 
TAORMINA RHYTHM – Raced wide in the early stages.

ZENIA – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
SUNIKI – Put in an awkward stride rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
WE ALL AGREE – Raced wide for the majority.
 
CHICA BONITA – At the 800m, shifted in despite the efforts of its rider causing runners to its inside to be tightened for racing room.
 
GREYT INTENTIONS – At the 800m, had to be steadied from the heels of CHICA BONITA, which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.
 
 
Race 7: LOCKYER CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1400 metres
 
LOVING MISS – Slow to begin.
 
FAST THINKER – Approaching the 1200m, put in an awkward stride and became unbalanced for a short distance. When asked to comment on below market performance rider L. Dittman advised that in his opinion the horse raced flat as it failed to show its customary speed and was disappointing in its performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Stewards will follow up with trainer L. Kelly in the coming days regarding the condition of the horse.
 
LITTLE JERRY – Shortly after the start was bumped and taken inwards by MISHANI ESPRIT.

PERSIAN FRONT – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Following the running of race 7, the track was upgraded to a soft (5).
 
 
Race 8: PRJ BUILDING RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1400 metres
 
 
JENO – Slow to begin.
 
KINGS ROW – Raced wide.
 
MILAGRO – When asked to comment on the horse’s performance, jockey S. Cormack advised that the mare became unbalanced at certain points of the race, particularly on the turns. Jockey Cormack added that he was satisfied with the finishing effort of the mare once it was able to get balanced in the home straight.  
 
SHE'S ABLAZING – Slow to begin. Raced wide.
 
VALUE ABBEY – Raced wide.
 
SHAME JOB – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Eased down over concluding stages after the rider had concerns with its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Stewards will follow up with trainer G. Osborne in the coming days regarding the condition of the horse.
 
Race 9: LOCKYER PROPERTY NETWORK Class 1 Handicap 1600 metres
 
SECRET KING – Raced wide throughout.
 
SISYPHEAN – Became fractious when attempting to be loaded into the barriers resulting in C. Eaton being harmlessly dislodged. Ms Eaton advised the starter she was free of injury and was able to fulfil her engagement. Commenced to race keenly leaving the 1400m and shifted wider. Continued to race keenly before being permitted to stride forward to a position outside the leader at the 900m.  
 
ANACHEEVA LAD – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
ARTIE'S DREAMTIME – Became awkward at heels leaving the 800m when SISYPHEAN shifted in before being corrected by its rider. Hung out rounding the home turn and bumped SISYPHEAN.
 
HEAR HEAR – Had to have its tongue tie reattached behind the barriers. Bumped rounding the home turn and became unbalanced momentarily.
 
JAZZ – Slow to begin. Approaching the 1200m, commenced to over race and shifted out momentarily. Placed in restricted room rounding the home turn when SISYPHEAN was taken wider by ARTIE’S DREAMTIME and as a result bumped with HEAR HEAR and lost ground.
 
HE'S VIRAL (NZ) – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
FEUDALIST – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home. When questioned regarding his riding in the early stages of the home straight rider T. Brooker stated that runners forward of her where shifting ground rounding the home turn and for this reason she had to wait until a run fully presented between ARTIE’S DREAMTIME and SISYPHEAN before being able to fully test her mount. Stewards noted her explanation.
 
 
Race 10: ICM ELECTRICAL BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 2000 metres
 
PACKAGE – Passing the winning post first time, commenced to over race and shifted out inconveniencing another runner. Shifted out under pressure near the 150m before being corrected by its rider.
 
HEZA PLEAZA (NZ) – Approaching the 100m was obliged to shift wider when BIZOU shifted ground under riding. Jockey L. Allen, the rider of BIZOU, was advised to show greater care when allowing her mounts shift ground than she did on this occasion. Apprentice Jai Williams pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(b) in that he failed to fully ride his mount out to the end of race. Apprentice Williams license to ride in races was suspended for seven (7) days commencing from midnight 25th September up to and including the 1st October 2022, before being permitted to resume riding in races on the 2nd October 2022. In determining penalty stewards were comfortably satisfied that apprentice William’s failure to fully ride his mount out had denied HEZA PLEAZA (NZ) the opportunity to obtain 4th place. Stewards were also mindful of Mr Williams status as an apprentice and that he had also previously offended under AR 131(b). Apprentice J. Williams was advised of his right to internal review.
 
DREAM CANDY – Raced in restricted room approaching the 400m. Upon return to the enclosure rider M. Savva dismounted in a distressed state and was attended to by QAS officials. As a result of this incident Apprentice M. Savva was unable to weigh in. Stewards acting under AR 208(3) were satisfied that DREAM CANDY had carried its allocated weight and correct weight was declared.
 
BUDDY'S TALE – Inconvenienced passing the winning post first time. Was obliged to shift wider to secure clear running near the 1500m.
 
DINNY'S A SUSPECT – Raced wide for the majority. Bumped leaving the 400m then raced in restricted room approaching the home turn and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed between DREAM CANDY and HEZA PLEAZA. Apprentice Montana Savva, the rider of DREAM CANDY, was reprimanded under AR 131(a) in that she was careless in allowing her mount to shift out under pressure rounding the home turn.
 
BIZOU – Laid out passing the 1500m mark. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
BUCKIN' LUCKY – Slow to begin.
 
MAMMA MEDIA – Began awkwardly. Jockey L. McCoy was reprimanded under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip seven (7) times prior to the 100m.
 
FOUND THE MARK – Slow to begin. Raced wide until approaching the 1200m.
