QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT LOCKYER VALLEY TURF CLUB GATTON – THURSDAY 29th SEPTEMBER 2022 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J AdamsStewards – D Aurisch, K Daly, S CoulthardClerk of Scales – C FedrickJudge – S FaheyVeterinarian – Dr S FlynnSwab Attendants – J CromptonStarter – K Watson Race 1: LOCKYER PRODUCE QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 860 metres BRING ME KASH – Trainer D Ward was fined $200 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider on the horse. Began awkwardly. Hung out in the early stages of the event and then raced greenly for the remainder. Blundered at the entrance to the home straight. Trainer D Ward was advised a warning would be placed on the racing manners of BRING ME KASH. FIERY RING – Raced wide throughout. HORNNIC – Raced greenly in the middle stages of the event. MAXIMUM ALTITUDE – Approaching the 400m was momentarily awkwardly placed at the heels of HORNNIC. SPILL THE TEARS – Raced wide throughout. GIDGET – Raced wide throughout. HELLO ANGEL – Slow to begin. KAYTEE LUCY – Proved difficult to load. Trainer D Chujo was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of KAYTEE LUCY. Passing the 400m steadied from the heels of FIERY RING. OUR WINTER GIRL – Hung out throughout the event. Co Trainer N Hahn was advised OUR WINTER GIRL must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. Race 2: ROYAL GEORGE HOTEL ROSEWOOD Maiden Handicap 1100 metres When IRISH SALLY damaged the front barrier partition and it was unable to be utilized, Stewards permitted horses drawn to the outside of IRISH SALLY to be moved out one barrier position. The barriers were tested prior to Race 3 and found to be in a satisfactory working condition. TOP WEEKEND – Bumped at the start and lost ground. SLICK SHOOTER – Raced wide from the 700m. I AM JIMMY – After working keenly to the start underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early stages. NOBLE INDIAN – Jumped in at the start and bumped TOP WEEKEND. GRAPHITE MIST – After becoming fractious when being transported to the track, underwent a veterinary examination on arrival on course and was cleared to start. IDENTICAL – Blundered passing the 300m. IRISH SALLY – After being loaded into the barriers, broke through, travelled a short distance before being restrained by its rider, underwent a veterinary examination, and was cleared to start. Raced wide throughout the event. BETTY WHITEGOLD – Began awkwardly and lost ground. RAZAMAGAZZ – Rider M Castle reported the horse was inclined to hang out at various stages of the event. SATURDAY GLORY – Laid out under pressure approaching the 100m resulting in BETTY WHITEGOLD momentarily steadying from heels. Race 3: KLUCK FARMS Maiden Handicap 1100 metres COBURG – Bumped at the start and became unbalanced for a short distance thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse had bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer K Kemp was advised COBURG would be stood down from racing under AR79(4) for a period of 3 months and must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m prior to its next race or trial start. HOOFPRINT – Slow to begin. RUSTY ROSE – Bumped heavily at the start when RUEBEN’S DECREE shifted in abruptly on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event. RHAPALONG – Slow to begin. PENNY STOCKS – Raced keenly in the early stages. REUBEN'S DECREE – Shifted in abruptly at the start and bumped RUSTY ROSE. NIRVANA NINJA – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped COBURG. Raced wide throughout without cover. Race 4: TEMPORARY FENCE & BARRIER HIRE Maiden Handicap 1400 metres FLYING JOY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running from the 400m until approaching the finish line. SPINOZA – Raced wide for the majority of the event without cover. CRYSTALLIZATION – Raced wide for the majority of the event with cover. MAILOUT – Over-raced in the early stages of the event. I KNOW DAT – Slow to begin. Made the 1100m turn awkwardly, hung out and shifted out across the heels of KEATON. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse had bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer P Duff was advised I KNOW DAT would be stood down from racing under AR79(4) for a period of 3 months and must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m prior to its next race or trial start. SIZZLING DIAMOND – Raced wide for the majority of the event with cover. Laid in under pressure over final 100m. WILLNOTQUIT – Rider A Bakos could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance other than the horse may benefit from a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. KEATON – Approaching the 100m was eased from the heels of MAILOUT before shifting back to the inside to obtain clear running. CAPTURED IN TIME - Approaching the 100m obliged to alter course to avoid the heels of SIZZLING DIAMOND which laid in under pressure. Race 5: LOCKYER VALLEY PAINTING Maiden Handicap 1400 metres Prior to the declaration of correct weight W Peel, rider of 2nd placegetter ONLY THE LONELY, viewed the patrol footage in the home straight before electing to take the matter no further. DE NILE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. EPAUVESCENT – Laid in under pressure inside the 100m. MANZIKERT – Slow to begin. HUSH PUPPY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. JENESSA – Rider W D’Avila reported in his opinion the horse would benefit from a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. ONLY THE LONELY – Insidethe 100m momentarily steadied when racing to the inside of EPAUVESCENT. GRACIOUS KNIGHT – Near the 1100m raced in restricted for a short distance to the inside of EPAUVESCENT. Race 6: TAB - DOWNLOAD NEW APP BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1400 metres BUIN ROAD – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Lost off hind plate in running. TRY TO BE GOOD – Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event. Passing the 300m put in an awkward stride and blundered resulting in rider L Allen becoming unbalanced in the saddle for a short distance. Lost off fore plate in running. ROSE OF TAORMINA – Near the 1100m improved onto the heels of JIMMY NEUTRON and was steadied for a short distance. SHINAR – Raced wide for the majority of the event. MISHANI PHOROAH - Lost off fore plate in running. Following the running of this event Stewards, Lockyer race club officials and a delegation of senior riders inspected a section of the racing surface in the vicinity of the 300m. Remedial work was carried out on that section of the track and deemed suitable for racing to continue on a race-by-race basis. Race 7: SADDLEWORLD TOOWOOMBA BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1400 metres The start of this was delayed allowing remedial work to be carried out on the racing surface in the vicinity of the 300m. Prior to the declaration of correct weight M Murphy, rider of 2nd placegetter BEAN A WHILE, viewed the patrol footage over the concluding stages before electing to take the matter no further. ALL FAIRY PRINCE – Raced wide from the 700m. FREEDOM AVENUE – Raced wide in the early stages.Approaching the finish line shifted in under riding tightening BEAN A WHILE and FAST THINKER both of which were steadied as a consequence. J Molloy, rider of FREEDOM AVENUE, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. FAST THINKER – Raced inrestricted roomapproaching the winning post and had to be steadied. EGO DANCER – Raced wide from the 700m. BEAN A WHILE – Raced inrestricted roomapproaching the winning post and had to be steadied. Rider M Murphy dropped his whip approaching the finish line. JADE'S MISSION – Slipped behind, became unbalanced and lost ground near the 300m. CROWN WAR – Began awkwardly and lost ground. ENTERPRISE ELECTRA – Slow to begin. Following the running of this event a delegation of riders approached Stewards raising safety concerns with sections of the track from the 500m to the 300m. After viewing the patrol films and interviewing riders, stewards were also of the opinion that the track was not safe to continue. Following this, the riding group elected to withdraw their services. After consultation with representatives from the Lockyer Race Club, Racing Queensland and the Australian Trainers Association, the remainder of the meeting was called off at 4:05pm.
