Huxtable was not riding at today’s meeting due to illness, and Jason Taylor for acceptable reasons the following rider replacements were allowed:Race 2, No. 9 TATTLE – Apprentice J. Molloy (non-claiming apprentice)Race 8, No. 3 BIGGIE – Boris Thornton Race 1: REDMONDS PET & LIVESTOCK LOCKYER LIGHTNING 24TH JUNE QTIS 2-Y-O Maiden (1100m) BOSSED UP – Began awkwardly. Laid out throughout the middle stages of the event. THE LUCKY ALIEN – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being fractious being transported to the track and was passed fit to start. Raced keenly in the early stages. At the entrance of the home straight when shifting out to improve bumped VIENNAWAITSFORYOU. DEFTLY – Began only fairly. VIENNAWAITSFORYOU – Bumped at the entrance of the home straight. KENTUCKY ROSE – Contacted on jumping. From the widest barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. MISHANI JETSTREAM – Began awkwardly shifted out contacted KENTUCKY ROSE. Apprentice L. Barr reported that the filly raced greenly throughout the event and when placed under pressure from the 400 metres was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L. Ross advised that the filly would now be leaving his stable. Race 2: LOCKYER VALLEY MENTAL HEALTH CHARITY GOLF DAY 23RD JUNE QTIS 3-Y-O Mai (1100m) BY BY BEAN – Jumped in at the start.When asked to comment on the improved performance, trainer J. Hanna reported that the gelding had drawn wide at its previous start at Toowoomba and had to work hard in the early stages of the event to obtain a forward position. From the better draw today, and with the ability to gain the lead with little work, he was confident of a forward showing as the horse had pleased the stable in its work during the week. MISS ZERMATT – Bumped on jumping. QUEST OF QUESTS – Approaching the 1000m, when attempting to obtain a position with cover, contacted MISS ZERMATT on several occasions. Commenced to race keenly in the early stages. Jockey J. Stanley reported the gelding was inclined to race greenly at various stages of the event and was not suited by the tight turning track. TATTLE – Crowded on jumping. Began awkwardly shifted out and bumped MISS ZERMATT. DEEP UNDERCOVER – Jumped out at the start. Approaching the 100m was disappointed for a run between BY BY BEAN and PIPATINA which shifted out. Approaching the winning post had to steadied when PIPPATINA shifted in. R. Jamieson, rider of PIPPITINA, was advised to exercise greater care. Race 3: 2023 TAB GATTON CUP 24TH JUNE Maiden Handicap (860m) EGALITE – Passing the 400m laid out across the heels BON’S BETTER and had to be steadied from that runner’s heels. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. TIME TO STAR – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Apprentice R. Semmens was reminded of her obligations under the provisions of AR131(b) to ensure she rides her mounts out to fully to the end of the race. MORE MAX – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event, JONDY GRACIE – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Laid in momentarily near the 600m. AMALFI QUEEN – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight. SUPER GYPSY – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 600m obliged to race in restricted room when JONDY GRACIE laid in. BRING THE ROMANCE – Slow to begin. Race 4: BARRIER REEF POOLS COUNTRY HEIST BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (860m) RAMTASTIC – Slow to begin. From the widest barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. VICEMAN – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. FRISCO'S IMAGE – Trainer A. Mead was fined $100 under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late rider declaration of M. Butler. Raced in restricted room to the inside of CITY CHICK from the 500m to the 250m. CITY CHICK – Raced wide and without cover majority of the event. BARTOS – Began awkwardly and subsequently lost ground in the early stages. Laid out rounding the first turn and obliged to be steadied. Continued to lay out for the remainder of the event. Race 5: TAB RATIINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap (860m) When in the saddling enclosure and whilst mounting up, Jockey H. Richardson, rider of I AM FEARLESS, sustained an injury to her right shoulder. Jockey Richardson was assessed by QAS staff and subsequently cleared to fulfil her riding engagement. I AM FEARLESS – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. CHEVAL DE COURSE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Hung out for majority of the event, and as a consequence made the home turn very wide on the course. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer G. Arnold was advised CHEVAL DE COURSE would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing or trialling again. GOOD GRAB – Laid out rounding the home turn. Apprentice L. Sykes was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, of which two occasions were consecutive strides. Apprentice L. Sykes was also reminded of his obligations under the provisions of AR131(b) to ensure he rides his mounts out to fully to the end of the race. HEART OF KINGS – Having not started for an extended period, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, and was passed fit to start. LAI SEE – Checked shortly after the start when crowded between CHEVAL DE COURSE and SONIC ARROW which shifted in. SCARLET RIVER – When questioned regarding the performance, Trainer L. Patton stated the mare, which was having its first start for the stable, would be better suited racing over distances further than that of today. She added SCARLET RIVER would derive fitness benefit from its first-up performance today. SONIC ARROW – After being crossed by I AM FEARLESS near the 700m, hung out across that runners heels and lost ground. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Apprentice S. Champkin was reminded of her obligations under the provisions of AR131(b) to ensure she rides her mounts out to fully to the end of the race. SUNIKI – Held up for clear running between the 500m and 200m. ASHERLA – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Race 6: PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING & RESPONSE GROUP Class 2 Handicap (1600m) BAD INFLUENCE – When asked to comment, Jockey B. Thornton stated the gelding began only fairly and asa consequence settled at the rear of the field. Jockey Thornton further stated when asked for an effort at the 500m, the gelding responding only fairly and felt flat and subsequently proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer G. Thornton advised he will report back to Stewards if anything comes to light in the coming days to explain the performance. HEAT – Taken wider approaching the 400m when attempting to improve into a marginal run. LATE NIGHT DEVIL – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Approaching the 400m inconvenienced and restrained when tightened for room when awkwardly placed on heels of HEAT which improved to the outside of LAYLA’S SONG which a short distance later laid out. In acknowledging the racing characteristics of LAYLA’S SONG at the point of the incident, Apprentice J. Lloyd (HEAT) was nonetheless advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. LAYLA'S SONG – Laid out approaching the 400m. Race 7: VALE DEAN HOLLAND RATIINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap (1400m) ROADHOUSE – Hungout approaching the 1100m. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Shifted out under pressure early in the home straight. HERECUM DA DRUMS – From the widest barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Shifted out abruptly rounding the home turn taking BLUE VELVET wider. BOUT – Laid out rounding the home turn. EPAUVESCENT – Began awkwardly and shifted in. BELLICOSE – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. BLUE VELVET – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Bumped heavily and became unbalanced rounding the home turn when HERECUM DA DRUMS shifted out to obtain clear running. Jockey L. Tilley (HERECUM DA DRUMS) was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. ZABCAN – Began awkwardly shifted out and contacted EPAUVESCENT. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight before shifting to the outside to secure clear running passing the 150m. FORT MYER – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid out approaching the 1100m despite the efforts of its rider and contacted BOUT, before shifting back to the inside a short distance later. Race 8: MEMORIAL RACEDAY FRIDAY 9TH JUNE 2023 RATIINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap (1400m) FOUR MILE LANE – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from the 400m until the entrance of the home straight. Laid out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight and as a result when leaving the 100m became momentarily awkwardly placed on the heels of MOFEED WARRIOR. BIGGIE – Taken wider rounding the home turn when BAMBALAM laid out. BAMBALAM – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Jockey J. Stanley reported that the gelding wasn’t entirely comfortable on the tight turning track and his opinion would be better suited to wider tracks. Laid out rounding the home turn. MOFEED WARRIOR – Upon jumping shifted in and contacted SIZZLING BABE. Taken wider rounding the home turn when BAMBALAM laid out. CORONEL – From the widest barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. SIZZLING BABE – Began awkwardly shifted out and contacted MOFEED WARRIOR. Race 9: QN NATIONAL HOTEL BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400 metres SPRINGTHORPE – Contacted upon jumping. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. EPICURIOUS – After beginning only fairly from the wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. BRENTWOOD – Began awkwardly and lost ground. EMMY REGINA – Began awkwardly shifted out and contacted I AM A HIT. PALATE – When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance, trainer P Webster advised the horse was not suited by the sand track conditions at its most recent start at Wondai on 25th April 2023. He added PALATE had worked well since and was also suited by the step up to 1400m today. Stewards noted the explanation. LITTLE MISS PIXIE – Began awkwardly shifted out and contacted SPRINGTHORPE. DINNY'S A SUSPECT – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. I AM A HIT – Began awkwardly. MASON'S CHANCE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. MARCADA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after contacting the running rail when leaving the mounting yard and passed fit to start. Rider J Lloyd reported he desisted from pressuring his mount in the home straight as MARCADA, in his opinion, did not feel entirely comfortable in its action after being placed under pressure from the 600m. J Llloyd was reminded of his obligations to advise Stewards of any condition which may affect a performance on weighing in.
