GENERAL
 
As B. Moffat was delayed due to transport difficulties in Race 1, he was replaced by Apprentice O. Webb on EVERYNOW’N’THEN.
 
 
Race 1: MOBILE TINE AUSTRALIA CLASS 3 PLATE (2000m)
 
BUDDY’S TALE – Began awkwardly. Laid out passing the winning post on the first occasion taking NOT A FAT BOY and POWER PACK wider. Following the running of the event, Rider H. Phillips stated she had concerns with the gelding’s actions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed BUDDY’S TALE to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer D. Corbett was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again. 
 
JIMMY THE TULIP – Slow to begin.  Near the 850m, improved onto heels, blundered, and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, Apprentice D. McGillivray stated he settled further back in the field than anticipated, stating JIMMY THE TULIP wasn’t suited by the slow tempo in the early and middle stages. He further added that his saddle slipped back during the event placing him at some disadvantage.
 
MT MORT SHARK – From a wide barrier shifted behind runners in the early stages. Raced wide and without cover from the 1000m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
EVERY’N’THEN – Approaching the 600m, when attempting to improve, placed in restricted room between JIMMY THE TULIP and BUDDY’S TALE which laid out marginally when weakening.
 
NOT A FAT BOY – Carried wider passing the winning post on the first occasion when BUDDY’S TALE hung-out. Carried wider passing 900m when JIMMY THE TULIP shifted out. Trainer V. Venkaya advised that the gelding had bled from the off-side nostril. He further stated that the gelding would now be sent for a spell. Nonetheless, Mr Venkaya was advised of the provisions of AR79(8).
 
POWER PACK – Raced wide in the early stages. Carried wider rounding the winning post on the first occasion when BUDDY’S TALE hung-out. When the pace of the race slackened, over-raced on heels of BUDDY’S TAILs near the 1100m. Held-up for clear running behind the tiring BUDDY’S TALE between the 500m and 400m.
 
 
Race 2: LOCKYER PRODUCE CLASS 2 PLATE (860m)
 
SONGZILLA – Dipped marginally on jumping.
 
FASTHEARTBEAT – Slow to begin.
 
INATICK – Near the 600m momentarily steadied when crowded for room between SONGZILLA which laid out marginally, and FASTERHEARTBEAT which shifted in and away from YOU ESS ESS ARE.
 
YOU ESS ESS ARE – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Laid out rounding the home-turn. Apprentice A. Donald stated the mare was inclined to lay-out throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
 
Race 3: H2 GROW CLASS 4 HANDICAP (1400m)
 
SEMPRIENTE – As the start was effected, kicked-out behind and as a result was slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice O. Webb stated the gelding travelled comfortably in the run, however when placed under pressure inside the 400m did not let down as expected.
 
HOT PROFIT – Bumped on jumping.
 
TRIPLE CITIZEN – Bumped on jumping.
 
 
Race 4: REDMONDS PET & LIVESTOCK SUPPLIES CLASS 1 PLATE (1600m)
 
POSTWICK – Trainer R. Hay was advised that as a pre-race blood sample was unable to obtained from the gelding, POSTWICK would be stood down from competition pursuant to AR20(d) until such time a blood sample can be taken at either a race-meeting or trial. Stewards when considering the matter permitted the gelding to start today. A post-race urine sample was taken for analysis.
 
BITTER ROMANCE – Change of tactics; attempt to be ridden with cover. Ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1300m shifted away from the rail, carrying LEERY wider for a short distance.
 
CRYSTALLIZATION – Bumped on jumping.
 
GRACIE BLUE – Bumped on jumping. Held-up for clear running from the 400m until entering the home straight.
 
JESTER STATEMENT – Began awkwardly and bumped GRACIE BLUE. Passing the 1300m, momentarily improved onto heels before shifting out. Inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
LEERY – Carried wider passing the 1300m for a short distance when BITTER ROMANCE shifted out.
 
LIZZIE’ PRIDE – Bumped on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be in season.
 
 
Race 5: LADBROKES COMMUNITIES BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP (1600m)
 
VAN GOGH – Began awkwardly. Forced wider from the 800m when SHEPPEY shifted out to improve. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice R. Thorburn stated that the gelding was caught three-wide for majority of the event, however when placed under pressure near the 300m, weakened noticeably and for this reason he desisted from pressuring his mount in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SUKHBIR – Accidentally bumped the running rail near the 1300m when over-racing.
 
SPIRIT’S CHARM – Rider J. Stanley reported that the horse travelled comfortably in the run but was left flat-footed when the pace of the race increased passing the 500m. Trainer D. Groves stated he was not overly disappointed with the performance and advised he would monitor how the gelding pulled up in the coming days before deciding on its immediate racing future.
 
SHEPPEY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being fractious in the stalls and passed fit to start. A. Thompson, rider of SHEPPEY was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
SKATER – Rounding the home-turn momentarily steadied from the heels of SUKHIBIR.
 
 
Race 6: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE MAIDEN PLATE (1400m)
 
ARIK LAD - Slow to begin before being shifted behind runners in the early stages. Carried wider passing the 700m. When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, Rider S. Collett could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance other than ARIK LAD raced flat throughout the event. Trainer G. Baker stated the gelding would now be sent for a spell.
 
COLOURAHMA – Rider J. Huxtable reported after being slow to begin, the gelding was obliged to race further back in the field than anticipated and in his opinion resented racing amongst other runners adding that COLOURAHMA was not suited by today’s tight turning track.
 
DEXTER’S HERE – Began awkwardly and bumped SEVERINE.
 
ROMEUS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Passing the 700m when over-racing, shifted out carrying GOLD SAMURAI and ARIK LAD wider on the track.
 
SHAMUSON – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
WHATTA WHITT – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
SEVERINE – Began awkwardly and bumped DEXTER’S HERE.
 
GOLD SAMURAI – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Carried wider passing the 700m.
 
 
Race 7: BARRIER REEF POOLS MAIDEN PLATE (1100m)
 
LOADED GUN – Bumped on jumping before shifting out abruptly bumping TWO TIME GIRL, who was in turn carried out onto INSPIRED DREAM. Bumped near the 300m. Rider A. Thompson stated the gelding was inclined to race greenly throughout the event.
 
JAFUBOY – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected. Laid-out rounding the home-turn.
 
DOLLY’S A NATURAL – Near the 300m, laid in momentarily before being correct by its rider resulting in LOADED GUN bumping with LIGHT UP THE DAWN.
 
INSPIRED DREAM – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Bumped shortly after the start and carried wider. Raced wider and without cover for majority of the event.
 
LIGHT UP THE DAWN – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Bumped near the 300m. Laid-out rounding the home-turn.
 
FREEMAN FURY – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped LOADED GUN.
 
ALL NEW HUSTLE – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
TWO TIME GIRL – Hampered between runners shortly after the start. Laid out rounding the 900m turn.  
 
 
Race 8: MERRY XMAS & HAPPY NY FROM LVTC COMMITTEE – THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT RATINGS BAND 0-58 HANDICAP (1100m)
 
BULL DIMPLE RUN – Began awkwardly.
 
MARCH AS ONE – Bumped on jumping before being hampered between runners. Held-up for clear running from the 500m until entering the home straight. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Lost its off-fore plate in running.
 
GOOD’N’LUCKY - Began awkwardly and bumped MARCH AS ONE.
 
BALALAIKA KID - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers and passed fit to start.
 
SINGAPORE LADY – Hampered between runners on jumping. Near the 800m, tightened room and obliged to be steadied when MARCH AS ONE shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice B. Moffatt was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
ROWDASH – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
WHISTLIN’ ARROW – Apprentice E. Pomfrett pleaded guilty to a charge in that approaching the 1000m, did ride in a careless manner in that she shifted in when insufficiently clear of ULTRA INSTINCT which was obliged to check and lose its rightful running. Apprentice E. Pomfrett’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days commencing immediately at midnight 12 November 2023 up to and including 19 November 2023. In considering penalty, Stewards acknowledged that this was Apprentice Pomfrett’s first suspension, her guilty plea and considered the interference to be in the low range.
 
ULTRA INSTINCT – Approaching the 1000m, obliged to check when WHISTLIN’ ARROW shifted in. Apprentice R. Thorburn stated that in his opinion, the mare didn’t appreciate today’s racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T. Moloney undertook to report back on ULTRA INSTINCT’S condition in the coming days.
