GENERAL
As Jockey P. Hammersley was ill and not riding at today’s meeting, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards summary. Jockey Hammersley was advised that he would require a medical certificate prior to next riding.

Stewards considered an application from rider R. Payne, to be paid a riding fee and/or any percentages after she was of the belief she had been engaged to ride OXFORDSHIRE in Race 3 at the Gatton meeting today. After hearing evidence from trainer L. Derecourt and considering text messages submitted by both Ms Payne and Ms Derecourt, Stewards directed that Ms Payne be paid a jockey engagement fee for OXFORDSHIRE as well as any winning percentages from today.
Stewards inquired into the matters regarding the behaviour of trainer R. Drysdale prior to the running of Race 3 when presenting his runner SCENIC SUNDAY in the incorrect gear. After taking evidence from to QRIC assistant Steward Mr A. Brook, Trainer R. Drysdale pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR228(b) for misconduct in that he did misconduct himself by using aggressive language towards Mr Brook whilst Mr Brook was carrying out official duties. Mr Drysdale was fined the sum of $2000, with $1000 being wholly suspended for a period of 12months under the provisions of AR283(5). When considering penalty, Stewards considered Mr Drysdale’s good record in relation to this rule over a long period of time, his guilty plea, obvious remorse as well as the detrimental impact such breaches have on the integrity of the industry and the need for any penalty to serve as both a specific and general deterrent to the industry cohort as a whole.
