LOCKYER VALLEY TURF CLUB

25th JULY 2024

WEATHER – Fine  TRACK RATING –  Soft 6 at 10:00am           RAIL – True

OFFICIALS

Chairman of Stewards – K Daly
Stewards – C Warren, R Hansen, F Hartford, A Brook & T Preston

GENERAL

As Jockey A Thompson was not riding at today’s meeting due to personal reasons, App Bailey Wheeler was not riding due to being indisposed and both Jockey J Huxtable and App Corey Sutherland was not riding due to illness, replacements were made as per Stewards race day summary. App Sutherland and J Huxtable were advised they would require a medical clearance prior to again being permitted to ride in a race.

Race 1: NOLAN'S TPT GATTON QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE        860m

On reviewing the photo finish prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards identified that the Judges semaphore board numbers were incorrect with TOXIC being mistakenly placed as fourth. After discussing with the Judges, it was accepted that an error had been made when semaphoring the placings and the placings were subsequently amended pursuant to AR 214(4)(a) and correct weight was declared on numbers 3, 11, 1, 9, placing PRINCESS LUTETIA as fourth.

CHIEF BY- Shifted in abruptly on straightening. Laid in and bumped leaving the 200m.

CINTIA- Crowded soon after the start.

CRYPT DE PIN- Laid out near the 400m.

ICHIKA- Slow to begin. Crowded and bumped the inside running rail near the 150m.

NIRVANA BEAUTY- Crowded and obliged to steady near the 150m.

PRINCESS LUTETIA- Laid in under pressure down the running. App J McMurray pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(a) in that passing the 150m he did exercise insufficient effort in preventing his mount from shifting in when insufficiently clear of TOXIC, dictating the line of that runner in causing it to be tightened, checked and lose its rightful running. App McMurray’s license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 8days to commence midnight 27th July and to expire at midnight  4th August 2024. In considering penalty Stewards noted App McMurray’s guilty plea and forthright evidence as well as his recent record in relation to the rule, his status as an apprentice and the degree of carelessness and severity of interference which were deemed to be in the low range. App McMurray was advised of his right to an appeal.

TOXIC- Crowded soon after the start. Laid out near the 800m, becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of RED SWAN and having to be steadied. Hung out thereafter. Taken in, tightened and obliged to check near the 150m when PRINCESS LITETIA shifted in when insufficiently clear. App S Callow dropped her whip near the 400m.

PULL THE CATCH- Bumped by CHIEF BY leaving the 200m. Jockey A Mallyon advised that his mount had laid out for the majority of the event.

Race 2: BARRIER REEF POOLS MAIDEN PLATE   1400m

MR TADASHI- Began awkwardly and bumped on jumping losing ground.  Improved onto heels approaching the 800m. Obliged to check from the heels of GOIN’ SKITZ near the 1200m. Jockey P Randal pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 1200m he did permit his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MR TADASHI causing that runner to be checked and lose ground. Jockey P Randalls license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 7days to commence midnight 25 July and to expire midnight 1 August 2024. In considering penalty Stewards noted Jockey P Randalls guilty plea, forthright evidence and good record in relation the rule as well as the degree of carelessness and severity of interference which were deemed to be in the low range. Jockey Randall was advised of his right to an appeal.

PEACH GALANTES- Bumped on jumping.

BEAU MONDE- Raced keenly in the middle stages.

ICE BLIZZARD- Ridden conservatively in the early stages to obtain a rearward position nearer the inside running rail. Performed disappointingly. Jockey J Stanley was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the filly’s performance. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
