RACE 1:  BENCHMARK 60 HDCP1000 Metres

FORETOKEN – disappointed for a run to the inside of another runner leaving the 150 metres and a short distance later obliged to shift out across heels to gain clear running.

ISSY COMMAND – cast near hind plate in saddling enclosure and when unable to be refitted stewards ordered off hind plate be removed and the gelding raced bare behind. A public announcement was made to this effect.

MY BLING – Shifted in and tightened another runner when not fully clear near the 600 metres. Rider S Alam was reprimanded.

SQUEEMI – crowded for room and became awkward for some distance leaving 800 metres when another runner shifted in. A post race Vet examination revealed superficial abrasions to both front legs.

HUMANISE – shifted in and crowded another runner leaving 800 metres. App C Bayliss was advised to show more care in similar circumstances.

OTOSHI – slow to begin.

BLOODED – slow to begin.

BINESI – tightened and lost ground near 600 metres when another runner shifted in.

RACE 2:  MAIDEN PLATE 1000 Metres

EFFECTIVE ASSAIN – became unbalanced rounding the hometurn when bumped by another runner which shifted in momentarily.

FANTASY DREAM – as had not started for over 12 months was examined by the Club vet and cleared to start. Shifted out abruptly on jumping away and checked another runner.

SEQUOIA MISS – checked at the start when another runner shifted out abruptly.

THE PAST – after being loaded into the barriers, was fractious and then became cast under the front of the gates. Subsequently removed from the barriers, examined by Club vet and declared a late scratching at 2.28pm. On declaration of correct weight stewards ordered all bets on THE PAST refunded in full with deductions of 9 cents win and 10 cents place face value of winning bets to apply. SP’s are subject to deductions. Trainer B Murray was advised THE PAST would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.

CITY MARKET – returned to the enclosure with a puncture wound to the near hind pastern and treated by Club vet.

OUR HAWKINS – shifted in momentarily rounding the hometurn and bumped another runner.

RACE 3:  CLASS B HDCP 1200 Metres

The start of this event was delayed approximately 15 minutes to allow QAS medical staff to attend an on-curse patron.

KAVALONG – blundered on jumping away and lost ground.
NUSKEE PARKER – began to lose ground leaving the 600 metres and retired from the event in the home straight. At a subsequent inquiry App N Keal explained that near the 400 metres he felt the gelding become unbalanced and short distance later was of the belief NUSKEE PARKER had broken down and therefore elected to restrain the gelding. A post-race Vet examination failed to reveal any abnormality. Trainer P Sexton was advised NUSKEE PARKER would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
MAMBO MISS – began awkwardly, shifted in and made heavy contact with the inside running rail.
DEAR MAMA – off side hip made heavy contact with saddling enclosure gate when moving onto the track, was examined by Club vet behind the barriers and cleared to start.
ELRAES – when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, trainer D Murray indicated the geldings next start would be in race over a longer distance, with its immediate racing future being dependent upon that performance. On this undertaking stewards took no further action. A post race vet examination of ELRAES failed to reveal any abnormality.
