QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT GAYNDAH RACE CLUBSATURDAY 9TH OCTOBER 2021 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Firm 2 RAIL – True OFFICIALSChairman – K DalyStewards – C FedrickClerk of Scales – R BellertPhoto Finish – W SmithJudge – C SneiderVeterinarian – Dr A SchmidtStarter – D Slack General: On arrival on course Stewards upgraded the track to a Firm 2 at 11:30am. After the official scratching deadline at 7:45am, and as no other rider was available, Stewards acting under LR10(b) acceded to a request from trainer B Murray to engage C Rogers to ride ZIMBOOMBAH in Race 2. Stewards noted that C Rogers was the trainer of TWOGOBOOM in the same race and that a rider for that runner was declared at acceptance time on Thursday 7th October. Race 1 – Benchmark 50 Handicap 1000 METRES Declaration of Correct Weight was delayed allowing Stewards to view the start of the race to determine whether both ROCKSHORE, which was slow to begin, and MISS CRUZEY, which dislodged rider L McCoy on jumping, were afforded fair starts. After hearing submissions from rider S Stephan, Stewards determined that after being loaded into the barriers, and at the request the rider, a barrier attendant was assisting by holding ROCKSHORE. However, when the start was effected ROCKSHORE was slow to begin due to its own barrier manners, and as such was declared to have been afforded a fair start. In respect to whether MISS CRUZEY was afforded a fair start evidence was taken from starter Mr D Slack, and after viewing the available patrol footage Stewards found that after being loaded into the barriers, and in the process of the pre-race earmuffs being removed from MISS CRUZEY by a barrier attendant, the start of the race was effected which resulted in MISS CRUZEY scrambling out of the barriers very awkwardly and dislodging rider L McCoy. Stewards, acting under AR204(1)(c), declared MISS CRUZEY to be a non-runner with all bets on the horse to be refunded in full and deductions of 7 cents win and 8 cents place to apply on the face value of all winning tickets. After being treated for a wrist injury by QAS staff, L McCoy was stood down from her remaining engagement and advised she will require a medical certificate before resuming race riding. MISS CRUZEY, after galloping riderless in the field, underwent a veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. RURAL REBEL – Delayed the start after proving difficult to load. Trainer A Park was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners. ROCKSHORE – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly. Put in an awkward stride near the 75 metres and became momentarily unbalanced. S Stephan, rider of ROCKSHORE, was reprimanded under A132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 meters, one more than permitted. RAINING RICHES – Laid out rounding the home turn. Race 2 - QTIS Maiden Plate 1000 METRES As L McCoy was injured and there was no other rider available, Stewards declared DAULAT SUPERMOLEON a late scratching at 2:05pm. As betting on this race had not commenced no deductions were applicable. AVOCA - Rider K Gates reported the gelding was inclined to lay out at various stages of the event. K Gates dropped her whip approaching the finish line. Soon after passing the winning post shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. BILLIRUBIN - Raced four wide throughout the event. CROWNING GLORY – When asked to comment on the below market performance rider H Richardson explained the gelding began only fairly, never travelled at any point of the race and in her opinion resented the dirt kickback. Trainer G Richardson indicated CROWNING GLORY had pleased in a recent jump-out and the stable anticipated a forward showing today and had supported CROWNING GLORY, however he was very disappointed in the performance. Mr Richardson added it would now be his intention to give the gelding one more start this preparation on a grass track as its only 2 race starts had been on sand and dirt racing surfaces where on each occasion the horse had been disappointing. On this undertaking stewards advised that a warning would be placed on CROWNING GLORY for its poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. MOUNT HIMMLER – Bumped at the start. RASHEED – Began very awkwardly resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced for a short distance. Raced six wide throughout the event. ZIMBOOMBAH – Slow to begin. Near the 100 metres obliged to shift out across heels to obtain clear running. THE ANGELS KISS – Jumped in at the start. Raced three wide throughout the event. METALLIC REIGN – Raced five wide throughout the event. Race 3 - OPEN Handicap 1000 METRES MUSIC SCENE – Laid out rounding the home turn. CORAJILLO – Crowded and had to be steadied rounding the home turn when MUSIC SCENE laid out. Race 4 - Benchmark 60 Handicap 1400 METRES MY CERTAIN – Raced three wide for the majority of the event. GALVARINO – Rider R Wilson dropped her whip soon after entering the home straight. Following the event rider reported the horse became unbalanced and was reluctant to fully stretch out when racing on the downhill section between the 500 metres and the entrance to the home straight. KAKATIYA – Rider K Gates reported it was not her intention to race in a forward position, however with the removal of earmuffs today, combined with the slow early pace of the race and after beginning well, KAKATIYA settled in the position outside the leader shortly after the start. K Gates, rider of KAKATIYA, was fined $300 under A132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 meters, two more than permitted. MODERN FAMILY – Slow to begin. Race 5 - Benchmark 60 Handicap 1200 METRES LOVE YA BLUE – After being placed under pressure, commenced to lay out from the 300 metres and continued to do so for most of the home straight. MY BIG BROTHER – Shifted out abruptly at the start and lost ground.
