General
 
As there was no rider available at the allotted weight, Stewards permitted Todd Banks to ride EMIRATE PRIDE in Race 2 at 56kg (+2kg).
 
RAMTASTIC was declared a late scratching from Race 3 at 1:00pm after the horse sustained an injury to the off foreleg when being transported to the track. Trainer G Richardson was advised RAMTASTIC would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.

 
Race 1 – Benchmark 45 Hdcp (1000 METRES)
 
IGBO – Jumped in at the start. Apprentice R Wilson, rider of IGBO, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.
 
THAT’LL BE THE DAY – Raced in restricted room near the 600m and had to be steadied.
 
SCRUFF’N’STUFF – As had not started for an extended period, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
LYNRIC LASS – Laid out rounding the home turn. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
MAC’S BOY – Checked at the start when IGBO jumped in.
 
OUR BOY BORRIS – Rider M Butler reported the horse resented racing in a lugging bit today and recommended to connections they consider a gear change going forward.
 
SOLID ASSET – Slow to begin.
 
 
 
Race 2 - QTIS Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)
 
FIABLE ROSE was declared a late scratching at 2:22pm after being unable to be loaded into the barriers. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on FIABLE ROSE refunded in full and deductions of 6 cents win and 7 cents place to apply on face value of all winning bets prior to 2:22pm. Trainer K Afford was advised FIABLE ROSE would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.
 
CORSUCAN – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
DAULAT MACHTIGKUDA – After being loaded into the barriers, broke through the front partition before being quickly restrained, underwent a veterinary examination, and was cleared to race. Bumped at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SINGLE RISE – Leaving the 500m commenced to over-race and had to be steadied from the heels of GRAIGLEA LA VIE
 
LEVEL ONE – Underwent a veterinary examination prior to being loaded into barriers and was cleared to start. Slow to begin.
 
MISS BONTASTIC – Rounding the home turn was held up for clear running and became awkwardly placed at the heels of DAULAT MACHTIGKUDA.
 
EMIRATE PRIDE – Jumped out at the start and bumped DAULAT MACHTIGKUDA.
 
ETHELDA – Slow to begin.
 
 

 
Race 3 - OPEN Handicap (1000 METRES)
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed allowing S McGovern, rider of second place-getter COAT OF ARMS, to view the photo image for first.  After doing so, correct weight was declared on the semaphored placings.
 
FAIR FELLA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
DYNAMIC VERSE – Slow to begin.
 
COAT OF ARMS – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 700 metres.
 
ASK AUDREY – Held up on the heels of A GOOD CHANCE at the entrance to the home straight and was obliged to shift in a short distance later to obtain clear running.
 
DIGGITY – After being slow to begin, was unable to muster speed in the early stages of the event.
 
A GOOD CHANCE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.  Trainer N O’Toole reported after the event the horse was showing signs of a slow post-race recovery, adding that A GOOD CHANCE would derive fitness benefit from today’s race.
 
NO BETTER AFFAIRE – Taken in near the 700 metres.
 
MR VISTA – Checked near the 700 metres.  At a subsequent inquiry, in the presence of senior rider L Miller, app S Robbins, rider of FAIR FELLA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 700 metres she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of NO BETTER AFFAIRE which was taken in and crowd the running of MR VISTA which had to be checked.  In assessing penalty in this incident Stewards noted app Robbins’ unblemished record under this rule when riding in both Victoria and Queensland and accordingly a reprimand was issued.
 
TA CHANSON - Raced wide for the majority of the event. 
 
 
Race 4 - BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1200 METRES)
 
COMMENTS – Jumped out at the start and bumped QWICK.
 
RUTTO – Slow to begin.
 
CUTTING LOOSE – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
QWICK – Bumped at the start and lost ground.
 
RUN THE CUTTER – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
RURAL REBEL – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
 
 
Race 5 - BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (1400 METRES)
 
MIRALIE – Slow to begin. Commenced to over-race near the 1200m and continued to do so until near the 800m. Raced wide for the remainder of the event.
 
I’M THE BUSINESS – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Apprentice R Wilson, rider of I’M THE BUSINESS,was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.
 
NINE CIGARS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
HOLD ALL TICKETS – Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
