SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Kilcoy Sunday 2 June:
SARODEC (Race 1) – Trainer A. Simpson advised the gelding had pulled up well post-race, adding that in his opinion SARODEC had raced keenly in the middle stages which he felt had effected the gelding in running out the distance of the event. He further added that he would now look to drop SARODEC back in distance.
 
JUST LOOKING (Race 6) – Trainer B. Dais advised that the mare had pulled up well post-race, that he would send JUST LOOKING out for a brief spell, with the intention to race in the following three weeks.
 
 
 
GENERAL
Upon arrival, Stewards inspected and subsequently upgraded the track to a Good 3 at 12pm.
 
As Apprentice T. Wheeler did not hold the appropriate licence to ride at the meeting, rider replacements were made as per the Raceday Summary.
 
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 3. C. Taylor +1kg
Race 3. M. Butler +1kg
Race 4. C. Taylor +1kg
Race 5. M. Butler + 0.5kg
 
Trainer L. Petersen was reprimanded for negligence under the Rider Overweight Directive, for the late application for jockey M. Butler to ride overweight in races three and five.
 
 
Race 1: TOP CITRUS CLASS B HANDICAP 1000 Metres
 
LADY WAIRUA – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Bumped near the 750m.
 
MOROCCAN MOON – Slow to begin.
 
DAULAT ULTI MAIORA – Slow to begin. Hung in under pressure approaching the home turn and down the home straight, and near the 100m was steadied from the heels of MOROCCAN MOON. Trainer P. Blackwell was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
DOUBLE COCO – Raced wide throughout.
 
OPAQUELY – Near the 850m raced greenly, shifted in and bumped LADY WAIRU.
 
THE DEVASTATOR – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 2: GLENELLEN QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 2-Y-O & UP 1000 Metres
 
POWERALONG – Forced wider on the track rounding the home turn.
 
WEBBAR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not racing since September 2022 and was passed to race.
 
BOITUMELO – Began awkwardly.
 
RICHKISS – Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment, apprentice E. Molloy stated that RICHKISS did not feel comfortable on the firmer track and did not want to stretch out fully in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
STELL’S ANGEL – Hung out leaving the 700m and again rounding the home turn taking POWERALONG wider on the track. Laid inwards in the home straight placing the rider at a disadvantage in riding the filly out to the finish when awkwardly placed at the heels of TUANAKI CREEK. Trainer G. Richardson was advised that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of the filly.
 
 
Race 3: BROWN’S CITRUS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
 
VAST KAMA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice S. McCann stated that the gelding did not appreciate today’s firmer track.
 
BUNDYANDCOKE – Raced wide throughout.
 
NORTHERN WOODS (NZ) – Trainer G. Richardson was reprimanded for the late declaration of rider.
 
KUZCO LAD – Approaching 1000m was tightened for room.
 
YULE MY HERO – Raced wide throughout.
 
REGALO D’ORO – Approaching the 1000m was checked and lost ground. Apprentice L. Sykes pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding, the specifics being that he permitted his mount GIDGET to shift in approaching the 1000m when insufficiently clear of KUZCO LAD (H. Phillips) which was tightened for room and taken in tightening the running of REGALO D’ORO (A. Spinks) which was forced to check and lost ground. L. Sykes license to ride in races was suspended for nine days commencing at midnight 15th of June 2024 and concluding at midnight the 24th of June 2024.
 
CRAIGLEA ETNA – Slow to begin and lost ground. Jockey C. Taylor reported that the mare raced keenly throughout the event.
 
GOLD REVOLUTION – Slow to begin and lost ground.
 
 
Race 4: GAYNDAH JOCKEY CLUB / A’HERN FAMILY GAYNDAH CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400 Metres
 
Correct weight was delayed for the connections of 2nd placed KIRELLA SHORES to view the official photo for first place, after viewing the photo, both connections and Stewards were satisfied with the judge’s placing’s and correct weight was declared.
 
BARCLAY’S BANK – Raced wide throughout.
 
MARCADA – Raced wide throughout.
 
KIRELLA SHORES – Jockey C. Taylor sustained a harmless fall when dislodged on pulling up. C. Taylor walked back to the enclosure unaided, was examined by the QAS officer and was subsequently cleared to continue riding.
 
 
Race 5: FORMAT MACHINERY RATINGS BAND 0-50 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
 
RAVERA – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
THE BRUMBY – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
 
PERSIAN FRONT – Improved onto the heels of TRUE TALLY near the 200m before shifting out to improve.
 
BODY AND SOUL – When asked to explain his riding inside the final 100m, jockey M. Butler stated that the mare was finishing off the race well, however inside the 100m, PERSIAN FRONT shifted out which restricted his running between that runner and RAVERA to his outside, which a short distance later began to shift in, which resulted in him being awkwardly placed between those runners and the heels of PERSIAN FRONT, which as a consequence he was unable to place his mount under pressure over the concluding stages. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
TRUE TALLY – Shifted out under pressure leaving the 150m taking PERSIAN FRONT out slightly.
