Jockey C Bayliss reported that as a result of being hampered at the start, he was forced to race in a rearward position which he felt was the major contributing factor to the geldings below market expectation performance as the horse was reluctant to race through the kick back.

AGARN – Jockey C Robertson reported that the gelding had a tendency to hang in during the event and put in a number of awkward strides near the 500m. Jockey Robertson added that for this reason he eased the gelding down in the home straight. As a veterinary examination was not undertaken due to the vet attending to an injured horse, stewards will follow up with trainer B Mair in the day subsequent to today’s race in relation to the gelding’s post-race recovery.

ZOU SOME DAMAGE – As the gelding had not raced in over 12 months, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.  Near the 550m faltered in its action and was retired from the event. Post-mortem swab samples were collected from the gelding.
