ALBERT'S IN CHARGE – Over raced in the early stages. FLYING EUROS – Slow to muster early speed. Race 2: SKYLINE RESTAURANT Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap 1200 metres The start was delayed when, on entering the track OAKFIELD FEATHER dislodged jockey A Spinks before returning to the tie-up stall area where it was recaptured. The mare was examined by the veterinary surgeon and subsequently passed suitable to race. In this incident, jockey A Spinks was uninjured and continued with his remaining engagements. HEARTONHERSLEEVE – Bumped on jumping. TERESHKOVA – Raced keenly in the early stages. SUMBANK – Shifted in on jumping, bumping HEARTONHERSLEEVE. COCO JEWEL – Bumped on jumping. GISELLE'S GAMBLE – Began awkwardly. ZURI ZURI – Jockey M Murphy was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. OAKFIELD FEATHER – Shifted out on jumping, bumping COCO JEWEL. Race 3: GCTC MEMBERSHIP JOIN NOW Class 3 Handicap 1900 metres All runners in this event were subject to pre-race swab sampling. STAR SMASH – Raced keenly in the early stages. Jockey D Peisley accidentally dropped his near-side rein passing the 100m, placing him at a disadvantage for a short distance. STORM ATTACK – Raced keenly in the early stages before shifting to a three-wide position to improve from near the 1300m. APATAKI (NZ) – Began awkwardly losing ground and as a result settled further back than anticipated. Hung out from the 600m until the early stages of the home straight. SHADYVALE STORM – Began awkwardly. CASSOWARY – Hung in under pressure in the home straight before being shifted to the inside near the 200m to secure clear running. Race 4: GALLERY SEAFOOD BUFFET RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1050 metres The start was delayed to allow for the broadcast of an interstate event. ALL STARS – After beginning only fairly, was tightened for room shortly after the start losing ground, and as a result settled further back than anticipated. Jockey C Bayliss reported that as a result of being hampered at the start, he was forced to race in a rearward position which he felt was the major contributing factor to the geldings below market expectation performance as the horse was reluctant to race through the kick back. DEVINE FACTOR – Began awkwardly. AGARN – Jockey C Robertson reported that the gelding had a tendency to hang in during the event and put in a number of awkward strides near the 500m. Jockey Robertson added that for this reason he eased the gelding down in the home straight. As a veterinary examination was not undertaken due to the vet attending to an injured horse, stewards will follow up with trainer B Mair in the day subsequent to today’s race in relation to the gelding’s post-race recovery. ZOU SOME DAMAGE – As the gelding had not raced in over 12 months, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Near the 550m faltered in its action and was retired from the event. Post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have suffered a significant injury to its off shoulder and as a consequence was subsequently euthanised on humane grounds. Post-mortem swab samples were collected from the gelding. Race 5: TAB BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200 metres The start was delayed to allow for the broadcast of an interstate event. REALITY – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn. Apprentice B Wheeler reported that when asked to quicken in the home straight, the gelding raced a little one paced and despite running on reasonably, in his opinion the gelding may be looking for races over a greater distance than that of todays event. MASTER RED – Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer J Walk in relation to the late rider notification. ABB ROY – Steadied off heels near the 800m whilst racing keenly. Near the 600m, whilst commencing to weaken, was bumped by another runner. Race 6: EASTER SATURDAY RACES @ BEAUDESERT Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Ha 1200 metres FOLDING – Laid in during the early stages. MENOTTI – Shifted in abruptly shortly after the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. JACKSON ON TIME – Trainer S Morrisey was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late rider notification. HEROIC MAPUTO – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. SIR LORD – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. ICHACHA – Jumped with its head in the air and then was forced inwards shortly after the start when bumped by another runner. Cast its near-fore plate in running. BOARDIE – Near the 1000m, momentarily raced in restricted room. FEELING TOFFY – Slow into stride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in near foreleg. Trainer J Johnston was advised that the horse would require a veterinary certificate prior to next racing. Race 7: TAB Class 1 Handicap 2000 metres SPANISH KING – Commenced to buck shortly after the start, resulting in jockey D Peisley being dislodged. Trainer M Wilson was advised that the gelding would be required to officially trial prior to next racing. FOXY FRAULIEN – Knuckled on jumping Cast its near-fore plate in running. Race 8: TAB Class 2 Handicap 1540 metres RISING FIRE – Held up for a considerable distance approaching and rounding the home turn. SKYTAIN – Jockey J Morris was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(5) for using his whip excessively during event that being on 16 occasions. BRAZETTI – Bumped rounding the home turn. JUDICATOR – Faltered in its action near the 1200m and was retired from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a significant injury to the off-fore fetlock. Subsequently the gelding was euthanised on humane grounds. Post-mortem swab samples were collected. FOUND THE MARK – Slow to begin.
