When questioned regarding the performance, apprentice J Molloy stated that the gelding failed to muster speed in the early stages and was reluctant to stretch out on the synthetic track. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. BITONTHESIDE – Slow to begin. Hung out for the majority of the event. PRINCE OF MARAKESH – Jumped awkwardly. Race 2: THE GREENBOARD Class 4 Handicap 1200 metres MAXIMUM OUTPUT – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice C Collis stated that the gelding travelled well during the event, however when placed under pressure in the home straight, failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer S Kendrick was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary certificate, inclusive with results of an ECG, and to officially trial prior to next racing. FIELD REGIMENT – Momentarily steadied from the heels of EMMY REGINA approaching the 800m. MIDNIGHT BOOM – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 3: NRACE 0 - 60 Handicap 2000 metres Due to an electrical failure with the barrier starting mechanism, this event was manually started. PAINTED BLACK – Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey E Chaves reported that it was his instructions to try place the gelding in a forward position, however PAINTED BLACK failed to muster sufficient speed to prevent wider runners from crossing, which resulted in the gelding settling further back than anticipated. Jockey Chaves further added that in his opinion PAINTED BLACK did not appreciate the synthetic track surface. TIVA BAY – Shifted out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. NITROGLYCERINE – Slow to begin. Jockey A Spinks was fined $200 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. RISE’N’SHINE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. CORONEL – Hung out rounding the first turn. PRINENTE – Stood flat footed and lost ground. CASSOWARY – Jockey K Zechner reported that it wasn’t his intention to race in a position outside the leader, however after the mare began well, rather than being caught wide he permitted CASSOWARY to stride forward to a position outside the leader in the early stages. Race 4: TWO MATES BREWING CRAFT BEER Colts, Geldings and Entires 0 - 58 Handicap 1200 metres SUBSTITUTION – Jockey N Callow reported that the saddle slipped backwards on jumping, which placed him at some disadvantage throughout the event. GREY NOISE – Apprentice J Molloy was fined $200 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. BEEOKAY – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. CLOGS – Approaching the 800m, shifted in on its own accord, making contact with the running rail resulting in the gelding becoming unbalanced for a short distance. SCARE CAMPAIGN – Slow to begin. GREYT INTENTIONS – Slow to begin. Race 5: SENQ Fillies and Mares 0 - 58 Handicap 1200 metres EXPENSIVE TO KEEP – Bumped shortly after the start. Laid out approaching the 500m. GRACIE BLUE – Raced wide for the majority. Apprentice D McGillivray was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. TOP BABE – Approaching the 100m, jockey B Ainsworth dropped her whip. BEITSOO – Began awkwardly. MILLIFFE – Approaching the 200m, shifted in abruptly and had to be corrected by its rider. PERFECT LEGACY – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey M Powell was fined $200 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m. RAKU’S SECRET – Trainer P Sexton was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to notify a rider within the prescribed time. Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority. TUSCAN BELLE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be exhibiting clinical signs of cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer S Sixtus was advised that the mare would require a veterinary certificate, inclusive with results of an ECG, and to officially trial prior to next racing. Race 6: LAUXES GRATES Maiden Handicap 1050 metres PARUES– Laid out rounding the home turn. CHANCE WITH WOLVES– Commenced to buck shortly after the start resulting in jockey J Morris being dislodged at the 900m. Trainer J Aitkenhead was advised that the gelding would be required to officially trial prior to next racing. TERESHKOVA – When questioned regarding the performance and the tactics adopted on the filly, jockey J Taylor advised stewards that his instructions were to find cover and after failing to muster early speed, he elected to take up a midfield position in order to comply with instructions. Jockey Taylor further added that the filly failed to travel comfortably when racing in this position and was disappointing in its finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. The stable representative for the C Waller stable advised that they will report to stewards of anything that may come to light in the subsequent days that may have had a bearing on the filly’s performance. GRIS AMOUR – Raced wide throughout. MA DUSHKA – Very slow to begin. Trainer R Drysdale was advised that the gelding would have a warning placed on its barrier manners. Following the running of this event jockey J Morris was examined by QAS officials and was stood down from his remaining riding engagement at Toowoomba. Jockey J Morris was advised that he will need a medical certificate prior to next riding. Race 7: JKW LOGISTICS Maiden Handicap 1540 metres LADY CHARTWELL – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey N Callow reported that the filly travelled well, however when placed under pressure in the home straight, failed to respond to his riding and was one paced. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. The stable representative Mr M Eggleston advised that he will report to stewards of anything that may come to light in the subsequent days that may have had a bearing on the filly’s performance.
