GENERAL
 
Trainer J Wallace was pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to LR43, in that he employed an unlicenced stable hand to strap his horses at Gold Coast 25/03/2023 and was fined $200.
 
Race 1: VALE LAURIE SMITS Maiden Handicap 1540 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed when the bridle of RED VEGAS became detached and was unable to be refitted. RED VEGAS was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 12:32pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on RED VEGAS be refunded with the following deductions to apply –  
 
1st – 0c the win, 1c the place
2nd – 2c the place
3rd – 1c the place
 
SILVER WARRIOR – Held up approaching the home turn.

SUPER FENKEL – Approaching the home turn, bumped on the hind quarters and became unbalanced.
 
CHOOKY CHEERLEADER – Slow to begin.
 
CHICA LINDA – Hampered shortly after the start.
 
MADAM MAGNOLIA – Apprentice D McGillivray was fined $200 pursuant to AR128(1) for failing to be in the jockeys room 45 minutes prior to his first race. Slow to begin. Steward’s have ajourned an inquiry into an incident approaching the home turn at the request of jockey N Callow, who was assessed after race 8 by the QAS officials and jockey Callow claimed he was not fit to proceed. Jockey Callow was advised that he would require a medical clearance prior to resuming. Jockey Callow’s licence was also suspended under the provisions of AR23(a) until such time Steward’s can reconveine.
 
MAGANDA MISS – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced wide until a point approaching the 1000m.
 
IN CLOSE REACH – Due to transportation difficulties, Apprentice C Collis was replaced as the rider of the gelding by Apprentice C Waddell. Raced wide until a point approaching the 1000m.
 
Race 2: ON DEMAND DIGGERS Maiden Handicap 1900 metres
 
WHO SHOT SHELLY – Made the turn exiting the straight on the first occasion awkwardly and shifted wider.
 
TUSSAH – Tightened for room and was checked leaving the home straight on the first occasion. Jockey N Tomizawa the rider of THE UPRISING pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that leaving the home straight on the first occasion, he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in causing MARSHY, ridden by jockey B Ainsworth to be taken in which resulted in N Callow, rider of TUSSAH to check his mount from its rightful running and lose its position. Jockey N Tomizawa’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight the 18th of April and to expire midnight the 25th of April. When considering penalty stewards took into consideration jockey N Tomizawa’s good record and guilty plea.
 
IDLE DICE – Slow to begin. Carried wider rounding the first turn when WHO SHOT SHELLY made the turn awkwardly.
 
THE UPRISING – Near the 1500m, raced ungenerously when racing in restricted room.
 
NO MORE RED – Raced wide.
 
ANOTHER DAZZLER – Raced wide.
 
MARSHY – Forced inwards by THE UPRISING leaving the home straight on the first occasion.
 
PATTI WAGGIN – Slow to begin. Near the 1500m, when over racing, steadied from heels. Near the 900m, steadied when the pace slackened to avoid heels. Raced in restricted room momentarily when rounding the home turn.
 

Race 3: THE BIG O BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1050 metres
 
HIGHER – On arrival at the barriers, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced wide. Jockey J Guthmann-Chester reported that his mount was inclined to hang in throughout.
 
METZARRO – Approaching the home turn. Steadied from the heels of LOGAN’S BLADE which shifted in.
 
METAL ROCK – Slow to begin.
 
PLAINTIFF'S FRIEND – Apprentice C Collis was reminded of his obligations to fully pressure his mount through the line. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  
 
Race 4: P.B.A.V. Maiden Plate 1050 metres
 
I'M RUSHIN – Due to transportation difficulties, was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 1:25pm.
 
FRENCH MINER – Slow to begin. Made the home turn very wide.
 
ANCIENT MISSION – Raced wide.
 
Race 5: YOU DEMAND WE DELIVER QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1100 metres
 
APPLE CIDER – Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping and became unbalanced. Raced wide.
 
QUEST OF QUESTS – Bumped on jumping.
 
SAKIMARJUEL – Fractious in the barriers and reared as the start was affected, as a result lost significant ground. Raced wide. Co-trainer T Edmonds was advised that a warning was placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
TARPS – Raced wide for the majority.
 
I AM REAL – Bumped on jumping.
 
PRETTY AS – Co-trainer T Edmonds was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to notify a rider within the prescribed time.
 
Race 6: DEMOLITION Class 1 Plate 1200 metres
 
BETTER THAN BOOZE – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
BOSTON CITY – Began moderately. Raced wide.
 
MARNIE'S STAR – Raced wide.
 
TEMPTRESS KATIE – Apprentice B Wheeler was required to re-weigh after Phil Kimmet, stable representative for trainer S Field, changed the girth and surcingle of the mare before the race. Mr P Kimmet pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR229(1)(a) and was fined $300 for altering the gear of TEMPTRESS KATIE without apprentice B Wheeler being aware. Raced wide.
 
Race 7: NOTHING BUT RUBBLE BENCHMARK 70 Handicap1200 metres
 
REALITY – Very slow to begin and lost significant ground. Raced wide.
 
COLLAY'S SPIRIT – Slow to begin.
 
BRAVE WARRIOR – Inclined to lay in throughout. Apprentice J Williams was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
PRETTY DEVINE – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
BIGGIE – Raced wide.
 
Race 8: NOTHING BUT RUBBLE BENCHMARK 70 Handicap1200 metres
 
READILY AVAILABULL – Restrained from the wide barrier to a position nearer the rail. Ran wide leaving the straight on the first occasion.
 
TEXAS STORM – Rounding the home turn, when tiring, momentarily raced in restricted room to the inside of KING’S CONTRACT.
 
VIVENZO – Restrained from the wide barrier to a position nearer the rail.
 
NEW WORLD TAPESTRY – Trainer J Moore was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to notify a rider within the prescribed time.Raced wide.
 
BURY ROAD – Began awkwardly. Ran wide leaving the straight on the first occasion.
 
JERONIMOS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be coughing.
 
THAT'LLDOTOO – Slow to begin. Leaving the home straight on the first occasion, checked from the heels of NEW WORLD TAPESTRY which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey D Peisley pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear, causing THAT’LLDOTOO to have to check and shift wider to avoid heels. ANGELS SHARE was also carried wider on the track in this incident. Jockey D Peisley’s licence to ride in racing was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight the 18th of April and to expire midnight the 27th of April.  Raced wide. Near the 100m, when tiring, raced in restricted room and was steadied.
 
KING'S CONTRACT –Trainer B Hull was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to notify a rider within the prescribed time.Began awkwardly and shifted in. When racing ungenerously, was steadied from heels leaving the home straight on the first occasion.
 
ANGELS SHARE – Carried wider leaving the straight on the first occasion. Raced wide.
 
NITROGLYCERINE – Hampered on jumping and lost ground.
