Jockey N Callow the rider of SILVER WARRIOR pleaded guilty of a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that approaching the home turn he permitted his mount to shift wider when not sufficently clear of MADAM MAGNOLIA, ridden by Apprentice D McGillivray, causing it to be tightened between SILVER WARRIOR and SUPER FENKEL, ridden by D Peisley, which was racing to the outside, and ultimately resulted in MADAM MAGNOLIA having to be checked by its rider and lose its position. Jockey Callow’s liscense to ride in race was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 22/4/2023 and to expire midnight 2/5/2023. Jockey Callow was also reminded of his obligations to ensure he conducts himself in a professional manner at inquiries. GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting- Race 2 – CONTROLLED KAOS – J Guthmann-Chester +0.5kgRace 4 – KLONDIKE STRIKE – J Guthmann-Chester +0.5kgRace 5 – DANEROCK – C Robertson +1kgRace 7 – SPILL THE DIAMONDS – J Guthmann-Chester +0.5kg Race 1: COAST TO COAST RACEDAY 6 MAY Class 2 Handicap 1900 metres REFLECTING IMAGE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 1500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near-foreleg and was treated on course. CORDYCEPS MIRACLE – Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay in and race ungenerously in the early stages. RISE'N'SHINE – Forced wider near the 1200m and raced wide for the remainder. Jockey C Robertson was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. WANDILLA – Near the 1200m, eased wider and allowed his mount to stride forward. CLOUDY MISS – Apprentice C Collis was fined $400 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. Race 2: BRYANT AND BRYANT - CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS Maiden Plate 1200 metres Stewards delayed the declaration of correct weight in order to review the start to ascertain if JATOBI had been afforded a fair start. On review it was evident that whilst an attendant was assisting the gelding at the riders request, it was determined that it was afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared. GLENGARRY – Near the 700m, was bumped and became unbalanced. Jokey A Spinks reported that in his opinion the gelding may not have appreciated racing on the synthetic surface. JATOBI – Reared as the start was affected and lost considerable ground. Trainer A Campton was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. Near the 200m, put in an awkward stride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. CONTROLLED KAOS – Raced wide. MARLOU MILLIE – Trainer A Usher was reprimanded pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to notify a rider within the prescribed time. BRYDELICIOUS – Raced wide. Race 3: WOMEN IN RACING INC. AUSTRALIA RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1050 metres RALPHIE – Over raced between the 800m and 600m and obliged to steady from the heels of MAGURO. DEELOSH – Slow to muster early speed. LIVELY LASS – Began to tire approaching the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 4: ALL EYES ON JUST SUNNIES Maiden Handicap 1540 metres HONESTYANDLOYALTY (NZ) – Began awkwardly, shifted in and was bumped. TUSCANTE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 1100m, when over racing, was steadied from the heels of MISS MANSFIELD which rolled in. ROCK WAR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey K Zechner’s pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100m. Jockey Zechner’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight the 29th of April and to expire midnight the 6th of May. IN CLOSE REACH – Raced wide throughout. LORD GOLD – Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 100m, whilst laying in under pressure, was momentarily steadied from the heels of ROCK WAR which rolled in. REG 'N' KATH – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 5: 1029 HOT TOMATO'S GALEY & EMILY JADE Class 2 Handicap 1540 metres DICKENSIAN – Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 600m, disappointed for a run between KING’S CONTRACT and FOXY BARONESS and was obliged to steady from heels. Held up after improving onto heels approaching the 200m before being steadied and shifting out to secure clear running. Apprentice C Waddell was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. FOXY BARONESS – Near the 1250m, momentarily steadied when DICKENSIAN shifted in. Bumped near the 600m. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight causing its rider to stop and correct his mount. JAZZ – Near the 1200m, when over racing, improved onto heels and shifted out. KING'S CONTRACT – Over raced wide in the early and middle stages before its rider elected it to stride forward and test the lead near the 600m. ENTERPRISE ELECTRA – Near the 1200m, carried wider when JAZZ shifted out when over racing. WAIKATO – Near the 1200m, carried wider when JAZZ shifted out when over racing. Race 6: IN MEMORY OF CHARLIE BENCHMARK 58 Handicap1540 metres THAT'LLDOTOO – Stood flat footed as the start was affected and lost significant ground. Trainer J Bellamy was advised that the gelding would require a barrier certificate prior to next racing. ZOOMURUDI – Laid in under pressure. Jockey N Callow reported that when placed under pressure in the early part of the home straight his mount laid in and approaching the 200m, felt awkward in its action, so he did not pressure it from that point onwards. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near-fore led. Trainer J Patton was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary certificate prior to next racing. AGENT OF MAYHEM – Over raced in the middle stages. BAMBALAM – Over raced in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 7: CRAIG LANE LOVES THE BRONCOS BENCHMARK 62 Handicap1200 metres LEGEND RULES – Slow to begin. Over raced in the middle stages. Held up approaching the home turn. VETTA VELOCITA – Jockey T Brooker reported that it was not her intention to race in a forward position, but after being caught wide in the early stages, she permitted her mount to stride forward and race wide throughout. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey T Brooker was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(5) for using her whip excessively in the event, that being on 15 occasions in totality. FACETIOUS – Raced keenly for the majority. Apprentice B Wheeler pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race. In assessing penalty Stewards were satisfied that his actions cost his mount 5th place and fined apprentice Wheeler $400. GEM OF THE LOCHS – Slow to begin.
