Race 3: CORPSURE INSURANCE BROKING Class 1 Handicap
2000 metres

RED HOT RUBIX – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey A Allen stated the horse raced comfortably outside leader until placed under pressure near 800m however failed to respond to his riding from that point onwards. Jockey Allen added that in his opinion the mare may not have backed up from its most recent start on the 3rd of June and that the step up in distance to 2000m may have also had an effect on the performance of RED HOT RUBIX. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer R Hurley was advised that the gelding would now incur a 3 month ban from racing and would be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to resuming racing or trialling. Jockey A Allen was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.

Jockey C Taylor reported his mount commenced to make an abnormal breathing noise from the 800m and for this reason he desisted pressuring the gelding from that point onwards. Trainer S Sixtus was advised RESET’S SON would require a veterinary clearance, inclusive of results of a satisfactory ECG prior to next racing.
