GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweights at today’s meeting:
 
Race 1 – FRIEND IN NEED – Michael Cahill + 0.5kg at 55.5kg
Race 3 – AVOID THE MISSTRES – Michael Cahill + 1kg at 55kg
 
As a result of the fall in race 3, all races were put back one time slot with the last race to be run at 5:22pm.
 
Race 1: CHANDON GARDEN SPRITZ PARTY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE    1100 M
 
HYDROELECTRIC – Near the 600m, was bumped by WAHINE GALAXY which shifted in.
 
WAHINE GALAXY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.  Apprentice S. Callow reported that the filly laid out throughout the event, making the home turn extremely wide and proved very difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer Toby Edmonds was advised that the filly would be required to officially trial prior to next racing.
 
Race 2: HERITAGE BROTHERS BURLEIGH HEADS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP       1900 M
 
EXALTED CROWN – Carried wider when exiting the straight on the first occasion when ROMAN HEIR laid out. Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
ZOOMURUDI – Laid in when placed under pressure over the final 200m.
 
AIDEN – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the home turn.
 
LUCASAYD – Slow to begin.
 
ROMAN HEIR – Laid out exiting the home straight on the first occasion.
 
IDLING BY – Carried wider when exiting the straight on the first occasion when ROMAN HEIR laid out. Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to reach a position outside the leader approaching the 1200m.
 
Race 3: HERITAGE BROTHERS TWEED HEADS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1540 M
 
FINE RUBY – Approaching the home turn fell, dislodging its rider. Apprentice E. Lang was assessed by QAS officials before being transported to hospital for further assessment. Apprentice E. Lang was stood down from her remaining engagements. Rider replacements were as per the Stewards Summary. FINE RUBY, on veterinary assessment was found to be deceased, samples were taken before being transported for a post-mortem examination. Riders in the vicinity of this incident were interviewed and an inquiry will be concluded at a time and date to be fixed.
 
TIGERTUDE – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
AVOID THE MISSTRES – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Underwent post-race veterinary examination after the filly may have been galloped on rounding the home turn revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 4: HERITAGE BROTHERS FUNERAL SERVICES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
COLD ONE – Began awkwardly. Jockey J. Adams reported that his mount may not have appreciated the synthetic racing surface.
 
CADERAS – Began awkwardly.
 
ASTELENA – Laid out rounding the home turn. Apprentice J. Williams reported that his saddle shifted near the 400m, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder.
 
Race 5: WES AND ASHLEY HERITAGE MAIDEN HANDICAP         1900 M
 
DOUBLE QUICK – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
FRENCH MINER – Delayed the start when proved difficult to load. Trainer V. Coombes was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners.
 
RED VEGAS – Began awkwardly and then very slow to muster early speed.
 
SEEYOU LATER – Shifted wide exiting the home straight on the first occasion. Commenced to yield ground leaving the 600m before finishing in last position and being beaten by a margin of 38 lengths. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a poor post-race recovery and to be lame in the near-foreleg. Trainer D. Gafa was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary certificate, inclusive with the results of an endoscopic examination prior to next racing.
 
Race 6: HERITAGE BROS AT MALALEUCA STATION MAIDEN PLATE  1540 M
 
ARIK LAD – Raced wide throughout.
 
IDEELIC – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
SLAVA OMNIAWONDAIN – Slow to begin.
 
ALWAYS TEMPTED – Slow to begin.
 
MAFARO – Obliged to steady from heels on entering the home straight.
 
Race 7: HERITAGE BROTHERS CHINDERAH MAIDEN PLATE 1050 M
 
CONFIRM NOR DENY – Raced wide throughout.
 
DOMINANCE – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
FULL CRY – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Jockey A. Spinks reported post-race that his saddle shifted after being bumped on jumping and again entering the home straight and worsened approaching the finish line, placing him at a disadvantage.
 
UPLOADS – Slow to begin. Over raced approaching the 600m, was steadied from heels and continued to over race for some distance.
 
VOLARCHI – Began awkwardly.
 
INSPIRED SHADOWS – Tightened on jumping, was then bumped and became unbalanced. Near the 300m, was hampered between runners when DOMINANCE shifted out slightly and FULL CRY laid in slightly.
 
SEVERINE – Began awkwardly and was bumped. Raced wide throughout.
 
XTRASWEET – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
MOS OUT – Shifted in shortly after the start, bumped on the hind quarters by INSPIRED SHADOWS and became unbalanced.
 
Race 8: HERITAGE BROTHERS FUNERAL SERVICES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1050 M
 
COMMANDEERING – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced in restricted room near the 800m. Jockey N. Callow reported post-race that his saddle shifted from that incident, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
 
DASHING GEE GEE – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
PANUARA BOY – Shortly after the start was severely tightened when TIKKA READY shifted in after being taken in by COSMIC SERENADE.
 
TIKKA READY – Raced wide throughout. Shortly after the start, was tightened for room.  At a subsequent inquiry, Apprentice J. Williams the rider of COSMIC SERENADE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that shortly after the start, when riding his mount along, failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in when not clear of TIKKA READY, ridden by M. Hellyer, resulting in it being tightened and taken in onto, PANUARA BOY, ridden by apprentice J. Franklin causing it to be severely tightened and taken in and onto DIAMOND LASS, ridden by apprentice C. Waddell causing it to be tightened, forced inwards and bump with COMMANDEERING ridden by N. Callow. Apprentice Williams’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence midnight the 14th of October and to expire midnight the 25th of October 2023.
 
DIAMOND LASS – Shortly after the start, was tightened for room and forced inwards, bumping with COMMANDEERING. Raced in restricted room near the 800m. Raced wide throughout. Near the 800m, momentarily steadied from the heels of COSMIC SERENADE which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice J. Williams was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
RAYOCK – Crowded shortly after the start when COMMANDEERING was taken in and lost ground.
