Partridge Swab Attendants – K. KilpatrickStarter – K. Watson GENERAL Stewards permitted the following overweights: Race 2: C. Meehan +1kg (55.5kg) Race 5: J. Guthmann-Chester +1kg (56kg) Race 5: S. Galloway +0.5kg (54.5kg) Race 1: AC-TEC SERVICES RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1540M KABOOM – Began awkwardly and lost ground. WHISTLE HOFF – Slow to begin, then hampered when SUMMER STAR shifted out. Raced wide without cover throughout the event. Approaching and rounding the home turn laid out. JESTER STATEMENT – Began awkwardly. Passing the 150m steadied, then shifted in to avoid the heels of WHISTLE HOFF, which shifted in slightly. Jockey C. Meehan was reminded of his obligations regarding the use of the whip on a horse when out of contention. BLUE VELVET – After the race it was noted the mare had lost its off fore plate. MISS ANTARCTICA – Approaching the 1400m got its head up and steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of FREEDOM AVENUE, which shifted in and away from HIT 'EM UP, which was improving to its outside. Near the 500m steadied when the mare laid out towards the heels of KABOOM. Race 2: ALL AREA HIRE CLASS 1 HANDICAP 2000M FAST LADY – Jockey M. Cahill reported the mare did not travel as expected in the middle stages due to the kick-back, obliging him to ride along prior to the 800m. In the straight was inclined to lay in obliging jockey M. Cahill to change the whip to his right hand passing the 150m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. WANDILLA – Raced wide without cover in the early stages until ridden forward to obtain a position outside the leader approaching the 1200m. ALALTUN (NZ) – Approaching the 1600m, got its head up when being steadied. For a short distance approaching the 400m was held up before shifting out across the heels of LADY TOWNSON (NZ) to obtain clear running approaching the 300m. Race 3: RBC GROUP BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1900M SEA OF QI – Began awkwardly. In the early and middle stages, raced keenly. OSAKA MISS – Stood flat footed and lost considerable ground at the start. Trainer M. Wilson was advised a warning will be placed on the mare for standing flat footed. Near the 300m steadied when attempting a doubtful run between SEA OF QI and IDLING BY, before then being shifted out across the heels of SEA OF QI into clear running. Race 4: BMD CONSTRUCTIONS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200M LACH'S HOBBY – A pre-race veterinary examination revealed a healing abrasion to the inside of the near hind leg. Slow to begin. Weakened from the 400m and eased down in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore. Trainer V. Heading was advised the gelding would require veterinary clearance prior to racing again. SEVENTIES HIT – Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester was reminded of his obligations regarding his action where he raised his arm above shoulder height when using the whip. KLANG BOY – Trainer P. Robl was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time. WINDY WHEELS – Slow to muster speed. Race 5: MERCEDES-BENZ GOLD COAST RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1200M MY PRINCE CHARMING – Slow to begin. UPLOADS – Slow to begin. Near the 150m Jockey M. Cahill dropped his whip. MILLIFFE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. When under pressure in the straight, laid out obliging apprentice S. Callow to stop riding and straighten on several occasions. Race 6: EAST COAST CONCRETE MAIDEN HANDICAP 1540M AVENTINE HILL – Jockey C. Meehan reported the gelding failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure approaching the 400m and was eased down from passing the 200m. Trainer V. Venkaya was notified AVENTINE HILL must perform to the satisfaction of Stewards in a trial prior to being permitted to race again. LUCKY JESS – Slow to begin. Jockey M. Cahill explained his mount travelled well in the middle stages and when the pace quickened passing the 600m, the filly did not pick up as expected. He said although the filly continued to make ground over the concluding stages, in his opinion, it may be better suited over a longer journey. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. PIG IN THE CITY – Apprentice J. Williams pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR143(14)(a) in that he failed to claim his full 2kg allowance and was fined $500. As no other apprentice was available, apprentice J. Williams was permitted to take the ride on PIG IN THE CITY. Apprentice J. Williams was notified his record in this area was poor and should there be a continuation, stronger action may be considered.
