QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT GOLD COAST TURF CLUB AQUIS PARK GOLD COAST POLY - SATURDAY 11th NOVEMBER 2023 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Synthetic RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – K. Watson Race 1: TRADELINK : PLUMBING MADE EASY CLASS 2 PLATE 1900M BAY STREET – Leaving the 1200m left a one wide trailing position and progressed forward to lead the event near the 900m. Rounding the home turn laid out which allowed CUE TO CONQUER to secure a run to the inside of BAY STREET. CUE TO CONQUER – Put in an awkward stride shortly after the start. Passing the 800 momentarily steadied when crossed by BAY STREET. D. Peisley the rider of BAY STREET was asked to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. DRAKE PASSAGE (NZ) – Race keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the straight. M. Cahill was fined $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted. Race 2: TRADEPEX : QUICK AS LIGHTNING BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1050M CAMPAI – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. EMMY REGINA – Jumped in at the start and bumped AFFINITY FLYER. Inclined to lay out passing the 800m and raced wide from that point. AFFINITY FLYER – Bumped at the start. Race 3: CAROMA : THE SMARTEST FLUSH MAIDEN HANDICAP 2000M WORD FROM ABOVE – The saddle on the horse slipped back from the 1200m placing rider J Williams at a slight disadvantage for the remainder of the event. MATTE BLACK – D. Peisley the rider of MATTE BLACK was reminded of his obligations under the provisions of AR132(6)(c) regarding using his whip when out of contention. THE GARF – Began awkwardly. Apprentice J. Franklin the rider of THE GARF was reminded of his obligations under the provisions of AR132(6)(c) regarding using his whip when out of contention. CASSIE'S GIRL – Stood flat footed and lost ground. Trainer L. Patton was advised that the horse must obtain a further barrier certificate before being permitted to race again. Left a rearward trail at 1300m, progressed forward and then obtained a position outside the leader near the 800m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 4: TRADELINK : PIPE DREAMS MAIDEN PLATE 1050M DOMINANCE – Jumped awkwardly. Jockey D. Peisley dropped his whip passing the 100m. GUERNSEY – Raced three wide for the majority of the event before weakening in the home straight. Jockey C. Bayliss could not offer any explanation for the performance, other than GUERNSEY may not have appreciated the synthetic racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. SPIRIT OF HEATH – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight resulting in jockey P. Hammersley not being able to fully ride his mount out over the concluding stages. ARABIAN FOX – Raced keenly early and middle stages when leading the event. Race 5: RHEEM : MAKES PLUMBING EASY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1100M BLACK MINTO – Apprentice J. Williams reported that BLACK MINTO travelled comfortably until the 400m, however when placed under pressure from that point did not fully let down as expected which he attributed to the horse having its start on today’s synthetic surface. SOO SWEET – Jumped out at the start and bumped HEROIC EAGLE. SPEEDY MACHO – Bumped at the start. WHISKEY DANCER – Jumped in at the start and bumped SPEEDY MACHO. Approaching 800m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of SOO SWEET which shifted in. Apprentice J. Franklin, the rider of SOO SWEET, was asked to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. HEROIC EAGLE – Bumped at the start. Raced three wide throughout. Made the home turn awkwardly. Race 6: CAROMA : PLUMBERS LITTLE HELPER BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1540M WAYLAID – Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. AGENT OF MAYHEM – Held up for clear running from the 500m until the entrance to the home straight. AMERICAN PIONEER – Apprentice S. Callow could offer no explanation for the performance other than after being placed under pressure leaving the 500m, AMERICAN PIONEER may not have appreciated today’s synthetic surface. MY GIRL SKY – Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages before being ridden forward and obtaining the lead approaching the 1000m. Laid out passing the 500m. Race 7: QUICK AS A FLASH WITH RHEEM CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1540M DICKENSIAN – Over raced in the early stages when leading. Apprentice J. Williams was cautioned under the provisions of AR132(6)(g) regarding applying the whip when his mount was clearly winning. DEVINE FALLS – Near the 1400m became awkward to the inside of DICKENSIAN and had to be restrained when that runner shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice J. Williams, the rider of DICKENSIAN, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Jockey C. Taylor reported that the buckle on the breast plate of DEVINE FALLS broke during the race however did not place him at any material disadvantage. RONLEE GAL – Began very awkwardly and lost considerable ground. Approaching the 1400m improved onto the heels of DEVINE FALLS and had to be steadied.
