SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Gold Coast office 14/12/2023:
 
Registered Rider Agent Mr Adrian Gray pleaded guilty to a charge of improper conduct pursuant to AR228(b) in that during a telephone conversation on the 14th of December 2023 to a QRIC Licensing and Registration Official, he used language and terminology that was improper and unacceptable. Mr Gray was subsequently fined $300. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, clean record and remorsefulness.
 
GENERAL
 
As Apprentice S. Callow was indisposed, she was replaced by Apprentice J. Williams as the rider of LASER BEAM (Race 1) and Apprentice E. Lang as the rider of FULL CRY (Race 8).
 
As Jockey A. Thompson was indisposed, he was replaced by Jockey W. D’Avila as the rider of MINTO’S POWER (Race 1) and Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester as the rider of ROCK WAR (Race 3).
 

 
 

 
Race 1: ALL STRATA PROJECTS MAIDEN PLATE         1050 M
 
MAN OF VALOR – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery.
 
MINTO'S POWER – Became unbalanced when contacted shortly after the start.
Jockey W. D’ Avila was fined $400 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip seven (7) times prior to the 100m, two (2) more than permitted.
 
LASER BEAM – Began awkwardly. Apprentice J. Williams reported the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages, however; when asked for an effort in the straight, did not respond and was disappointing. He added LASER BEAM may not have handled the synthetic surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting symptoms of mild heat stress.
 
BELLA SIGNORA – Near the 200m, Apprentice E. Lang momentarily lost the use of the nearside rein.
 
LIGHTSCAMERAACTION – Began awkwardly, contacting the nearside barrier petition. Shortly after the start, contacted the hindquarters of MINTO'S POWER, which became unbalanced.  
 
MISS SHU (NZ) – Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 2: JP FLYING BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP         1050 M
 
CAMPAI – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after rearing in the tie up stalls.  
 
GHOST HUNTER – Began awkwardly, contacting the nearside barrier petition. Approaching the 900m, steadied to avoid the heels of CAMPAI (App J. Franklin), which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. Apprentice J. Franklin was reprimanded.
 
Race 3: AMALGAMATED WINDOWS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP    2000 M
 
FISCH TANK – Jockey D. Peisley reported on pulling up, the gelding did not feel right in its action in front. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the left fore and was subsequently treated on-course. Trainer A. Chau was advised FISCH TANK would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
 
IDLING BY – After the race, it was noted that IDLING BY lost its hind plates. Apprentice J. Franklin reported the mare did not feel right in its action in front. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the right fore. Trainer G. Thornton was advised IDLING BY would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. Apprentice J. Franklin was fined $400 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip seven (7) times prior to the 100m, two (2) more than permitted.
 
MAGIC OF MILLO – Began awkwardly. In the early stages raced keenly, before shifting out near the 1700m to race in a three-wide position without cover.  
 
ROCK WAR – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a puncture to the left hind lateral cannon and was subsequently treated on-course. Trainer L. Kelly was advised the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
 
DOOM DIVA – Began awkwardly.
 
SACRED COVE (NZ) – Trainer S. Pepper was reprimanded for presenting the mare in the enclosure with ear muffs, that were not part of its approved gear.
 
Race 4: AMALGAMATED BUILDING SERVICES CLASS 3 HANDICAP  1100 M
 
I AM AZZURRO – Reared as the gates opened and lost ground.
 
SMILE UPON A STAR – Began awkwardly. Jockey E. Chaves reported his mount hung out from the 600m.
 
BOARDIE – Apprentice C. Waddell was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip seven (7) times prior to the 100m, two (2) more than permitted.
 
UPLOADS – Slow to muster early speed.
 
Race 5: AMALGAMATED ABSEILING CLASS 3 HANDICAP         1540 M
 
THE RIGHT WAY (NZ) – Apprentice S. Champkin reported the gelding hung out through the race and may not have handled the synthetic surface. Trainer G. Wright advised the gelding would now be spelled.
 
JOVITA – Stumbled on leaving the gates. After the race, it was noted the mare had lost its right fore plate.
 
MARTINI DANCER – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
RONLEE GAL – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
BRINGME – Apprentice E. Lang reported after beginning well from the wide draw, she was obliged to press forward and take the lead passing the 1200m.
 
Race 6: AMALGAMATED WATERPROOFING BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP       1540 M
 
The start of this race was delayed to the rescheduling of Race 6 at Eagle Farm.
 
WAYLAID – Began awkwardly.
 
KABOOM – As the start was effected, sat back and was slow to begin. Rider J. Guthmann-Chester reported due to the mare’s racing pattern, it did not appreciate the kick back and consequently, did not stretch out as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
Race 7:ASP COMMERCIAL MAIDEN HANDICAP         1540 M
 
This race was delayed due to storm activity in the area. Amended start time 4:34pm.
 
SEEYA LATER GATER – Bumped at the start.
 
THE IRISH (IRE) – On leaving the gates, shifted out and bumped SEEYA LATER GATER.
 
SUNDAY SKY – Raced wide without cover from the 1000m.
 
DE NILE (USA) – Slow to begin.
 
ITALIAN AWARD – Raced wide in the early and middle stages before being allowed to stride and join the leader near the 900m.
 
IRRIGATOR – Held up for a run from the 500m until passing the 300m.
 
On return to scale, both Jockey J. Guthmann Chester (KLANG BOY) and Apprentice E. Lang (IRRIGATOR) weighed in 1kg overweight. After taking into consideration the horses were in the enclosure when the inclement weather occurred and all riders’ gear were exposed to the rain, no action was taken.
 
Race 8:AMALGAMATED REFURBISHMENT CLASS 1 PLATE         1200 M
 
The start time of this race was amended to 4:34pm.
 
CONFIRM NOR DENY – In the straight, laid in under pressure.
 
PAGATO – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 400m, dipped when racing close to the heels of STAR OF ROBIGLEN. Passing the 300m, dipped.
 
RYE DEE OH – Raced wide without cover.
 
SO GREYSFUL – When making ground quickly approaching the 200m, steadied from the heels of CONFIRM NOR DENY, which shifted in to find clear running.
 
WHO INVITED HER – On leaving the gates, was badly hampered when tightened between SO GREYSFUL and RYE DEE OH, which shifted in.
