KilpatrickStarter – S. Marr Race 1: TAB WE'RE ON CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1050M WATERWORLD – Began awkwardly and then bumped by PRONTO VINCENTO. Raced keenly in the early stages. PRONTO VINCENTO – Jumped out at the start and bumped WATERWORLD, which in turn made contact with the hind quarters of ELKA ELEVEN. ELKA ELEVEN – Bumped on the hind quarters at the start. Raced wide without cover. Apprentice O. Kendall reported the mare may not have appreciated the quick back up from its last start at Gladstone on 16 December 2023. ZUMAIA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages. Hung out rounding the home turn. Race 2: MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM GCTC BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1540M AVENUE OF STARS – Trainer J. Field was fined $200 for the raceday declaration of apprentice Y. Lewis as the rider for the gelding. CIRCLING – Fractious on entering the track harmlessly dislodging apprentice E. Lang. SURIN BEACH – Hampered at the start. Apprentice jockey J. Franklin was fined $400 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. MARTEDI – In the early stages, raced keenly when wide without cover and laid in. Apprentice J. Williams reported his mount did not appreciate the synthetic surface. Returned to the enclosure with blood in its mouth. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. WAYLAID - GOLD WITNESS – Taken out at the start. For some distance passing the 1200m, raced tight to the inside of MARTEDI, which was laying in. HULKAMANIA – Shortly after the start, shifted out and bumped GOLD WITNESS, which in turn shifted out and hampered SURIN BEACH. Race 3: TAB MAIDEN PLATE 1900M The start was delayed several minutes due to LICENCE TO THRILL becoming fractious in its gate, getting its leg up, undergoing a veterinary examination and cleared to race. DE NILE (USA) – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey A. Spinks was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. KOTONI – Slow into stride. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester reported the gelding travelled well until 1000m and thereafter was under pressure and may not have appreciated the kick back. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. J. Guthmann-Chester was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. LUCIFER THE CAT – Raced wide in the early stages. SUPER FENKEL – Raced wide without cover until near the 900m. BETTER BELIEVE IT – After beginning well from the inside barrier, settled in a forward position. MAGIC IN PARIS – Jockey C. Taylor reported the filly made the 1400m crossing awkwardly and from this point failed to stretch out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the off hindleg. Trainer G. Cornish was advised the filly would require a veterinary clearance before being permitted to race again. PARIAH ON FIRE – Apprentice E. Lang reported the filly never travelled comfortably and may not have appreciated the synthetic track. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Race 4: LIFEFLIGHT LOTTERIES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100M FLY WITH YOU – As the start was effected, reared and lost ground. PEPERONCINO – Laid out rounding the home turn and in the straight. WORTHY ESSGEE – Shifted in at the start. DUSTYIAM – Tightened for room shortly after the start between HAYAKU and WORTHY ESSGEE, which shifted in. Jockey M. Savva was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. Race 5: TAB FASTER VISION BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1200M MISSION TO WIN – Jumped awkwardly. Apprentice O. Kendal was fined $500 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. FIVE STAR DECANTER (NZ) – Began awkwardly. FAITHFUL MARYANNE – Raced wide without cover. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 6: VALE ALAN 'JOCK' GOLLOGLY BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 2000M MIDNIGHT RAMBLER – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover in the middle stages. WORD FROM ABOVE – Approaching the 100m apprentice J. Williams momentarily dropped his off-side rein. RONLEE GAL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide without cover in the early stages. Jockey P. Hammersley reported the mare did not begin cleanly and may not have backed up from its last start at the Gold Coast on 16 December.
