ZimmermannStewards – G. Goold, A. Schofield, S. Borg (cadet) GENERALAs both jockey B. Loy and M. Schrapel were not riding, replacements were made as per the Raceday summary sheet. Race 1: JEWEL RACEDAY MARCH 9 MAIDEN PLATE 1150 Metres SIERRA DE GREDOS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly during the early stages. Rider P. Hammersley reported that the gelding wanted to lay out throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame behind. Trainer A. Campton was advised the gelding will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. MOFEED – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Near the 100m, obliged to alter course back to the inside when WASABI KICK laid out slightly. Apprentice E. Lang, rider of WASABI KICK, was reminded of her obligations to stop and straighten her mounts when shifting ground. PARCHEMIN – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Laid in over the final 150m when placed under pressure. A post race veterinary examination revealed superficial abrasions to the left hind fetlock consistent with being galloped on. COCO JEWEL – Raced wide throughout. ENUFF STOP IT – Declared a late scratching at 11.16am after becoming injured enroute to the course. Trainer B. Gentle was advised that ENUFF STOP IT will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. HONOUR MISSION – Raced wide throughout. ELLE MAGIC – Shifted the near hind plate during the preliminary and required farrier attention behind the barriers. As the filly was unable to be replated, ELLE MAGIC raced bare behind. Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. GOLD ‘N’ GLAMOROUS – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. WASABI KICK – Laid out slightly when placed out pressure over the final 100m. Race 2: TAB WE'RE ON MAIDEN PLATE 1540 Metres ITALIAN AWARD – Began awkwardly. ITALIAN VIRTUOSO – Began awkwardly and shifted out. LUNARIAN – Trainer advised that the gelding will be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly. MARLEE’S ZANDER – Obliged to steady near the 1400m. Jockey A. Bryan was advised to exercise greater care when crossing. Carried wider near the 1250m when READY BY MIDNIGHT shifted wider. Raced wide throughout. Bumped near the 950m. HUKA – Tightened between runners shortly after the start. MICK’S PASSION – Tightened between runners shortly after the start. READY BY MIDNIGHT – Ran wide rounding the first turn near the 1250m, taking MARLEE’S ZANDER wider. Over raced during the early stages. Bumped near the 950m. When asked to comment on the tactics adopted, jockey A. Bryan reported that the instructions were to lead today’s event if possible. Jockey Bryan stated that after beginning well and pressing forward, the mare began to race erratically shifting very wide on the track and proved difficult to settle. Jockey Bryan added that, after entering the back straight, she again allowed her mount to stride forward in an attempt to clear ITALIAN VIRTUOSO racing to her inside, however did not have sufficient speed to cross that runner and was obliged to race outside the leader, and tired in the run to the finish. Stewards noted jockey Bryan’s comments. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 3: HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVE SALMON BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1540 Metres BEEF WEEK PRINCESS – Bumped on jumping. PERNELL – Shifted out on jumping and bumped TOO MUCH CLASS. CUE TO CONQUER – Tightened between runners on jumping. Carried wider passing the 1200m when TAKANUI shifted out when over racing. Shifted wider before regaining a position with cover near the 1000m. SHIGERU – Bumped on jumping. TAKUNAI – Approaching the 1200m, when racing keenly, obliged to steady from heels, and shifted wider. TYROL – Trainer advised to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Raced keenly during the early stages. Approaching the 1250m, when racing keenly, obliged to steady from heels. Race 4: HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHELLE THOMPSON BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 2000 Metres JUST A JEDI – Bumped rounding the home turn and taken wider when BOSTON OF TUFFY shifted out. FASTNET ANGEL – Slow to begin. GODRA – Slow to begin. AQUARIUS – Trainer advised that the mare will be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. After beginning slowly, attempted to be ridden forward and raced wide throughout. Began to tire approaching the 500m. Jockey A. Spinks reported that in his opinion, the mare did not handle the synthetic surface. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 5: THE SPRING WATERMAN MAIDEN PLATE 2000 Metres FLAWLESS AMBITION – Caught wide during the early stages before striding forward to lead near the 1400m. KLANG BOY – Approaching the 1200m, improved onto heels and shifted out. Raced wide the remainder. Raced keenly during the middle stages. Approaching the 100m, when laying in, momentarily steadied from the heels of GIDDY GAN’S JOY which shifted in. NIGHT RULER – Slow to begin. SEEYA LATER GATER – Bumped on jumping. Shortly thereafter steadied from heels. SUPER FENKEL – Near the 400m, disappointed for a questionable run and obliged to check his mount and shift nearer the inside to secure clear running. WEWON – Began awkwardly. GIDDY GAN’S JOY – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure over the final 200m. KAHRABA – Forced wider near the 1200m when KLANG BOY shifted out. Raced wide throughout. Race 6: TAB FASTER VISION QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1050 Metres EASTOWN – Hampered shortly after the start when BEACHSIDE BABE shifted out. OFFICE POLITICS – Stewards acceded to a late gear request from trainer Mr J. Zielke for the gelding to race in visors. Stewards noted that the gelding won a recent trial in visors. Raced wide throughout. IT’S RAINING AGAIN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. MAJOR FREESTONE – Jockey M. Hellyer reported that his mount laid out marginally throughout. BEACHSIDE BABE – Shifted out shortly after the start. JET STREAM – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice E. Lang reported that in her opinion, the filly did not handle racing on the synthetic surface. STELLAR TRIXIE – Over raced during the middle stages. ENERGIZED – Slow to begin. Disappointed for a run rounding the home turn before shifting wider to secure clear running. Race 7: LIFEFLIGHT LOTTERIES BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1540 Metres STORMTROOPER – Raced keenly during the early and middle stages. Near the 800m, raced in restricted room to the inside of TORQUE ESPAGNA for a number of strides. CAPITEEL – Near the 1300m, obliged to steady from the heels of TORQUE ESPAGNA which shifted in. Jockey C. Bayliss, rider of TORQUE ESPAGNA, was advised to exercise greater care. CRAZY ABOUT YOU – Blundered on jumping. HE’S A LEGEND – Trainer M. Wilson advised that HE’S A LEGEND will be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden with purpose out of barriers, failed to muster sufficient speed and settled worse than midfield. DIMENSION – Began awkwardly. Apprentice J. Franklin lost his whip near the 200m. BEEFEATERS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 300m, when tiring, was brushed by CADERAS. CADERAS – Bumped on jumping. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight. BLAZING LOVE – Lost the near fore plate in running. NAMID – Raced wide throughout.
