As Apprentice M. Castle had transportation difficulties and was not riding at today’s meeting, she was replaced as per the Stewards summary.
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting:
 
Race 6 – STILETTOS – M. Cahill +1kg (55kg)
Race 7 – NAMID – M. Palmer +1kg (55kg)
 
Trainer A. Campton was reprimanded pursuant to LR36(6)(a) for failing to scratch the dual acceptor FREELAND, by the prescribed time.
 
Race 1: RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES GOLD COAST FAMILY ROOMS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP         1900 M
 
PAGATO – Passing the 1000m, shifted out from the heels of DANCE BABE and bumped heavily with ROCK WAR.
 
SUPER FENKEL – Jockey E. Chaves was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
NICE WATER – Slow into stride. Jockey A. Spinks was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.
 
WINSTON BLUE – Laid out from the 600m until on straightening.
 
ROCK WAR – Passing the 1000m, became unbalanced when bumped heavily by PAGATO (J. Williams), which when shifting out from behind DANCE BABE (E. Lang), raced close to the heals of that filly after DANCE BABE steadied and commenced to shift to the outside of FIVE STAR DECANTER (J. Guthmann-Chester). After considering all the evidence, apprentice J. Williams was severely reprimanded and apprentice E Lang was warned to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
Race 2: SCHRAMM GROUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
EXPRESSO LOVE – Raced wide throughout.
 
KOZANI – Cast its off-fore plate in running.
 
SILLY SALMON – A post-race veterinary examination revealed blood at both nostrils. SILLY SALMON (a) for a period of 2 months after the attack of bleeding, must not, without the permission of the Stewards, be trained, exercised or galloped on a racecourse, recognized training track, private training establishment, or other place; (b) must not start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after: (i) a gallop of at least 1,000 metres: or (ii) an Official Trial or Jump Out, in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward.
 
TABULAM – Jockey P. Hammersley was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race, where possible.
 
FREELAND – Slow to begin. Jockey E. Chaves reported after being slow to begin, the filly was under pressure from the 500m, failed to respond in the straight as expected and raced flat. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
 
Race 3: MI ELECTRIC CLASS 1 PLATE 1200 M
 
PEPERONCINO – Apprentice J. Williams was fined $500 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
PRONTO VINCENTO – Blundered on jumping and lost ground. Apprentice E. Lang reported the gelding was making an unusual breathing noise after the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and the gelding had lost its off fore plate.
 
DENIED – Steadied when racing to the inside of PLATINUM LIES, passing the 1000m. Jockey C. Meehan was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
QUEEN LUWELL – Slow to begin.
 
Race 4: R MARINE CRAWLEY MAIDEN HANDICAP 1540 M
 
HATASU – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
MAJESTIC ANGEL (NZ) – Eased down from on straightening. Apprentice C. Waddell reported her mount was not suited to the synthetic racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
FIONTE – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
SUPER FAIR – Raced wide throughout. Jockey A. Thompson was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
Race 5: RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES SOUTH EAST QUEENSLAND BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1540 M
 
METAL ROCK – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
SINGULAR – Began awkwardly and shifted out. In the early and middle stages, raced keen.
 
JIMMY NEUTRON – Raced keen in the early stages.
 
ITALIAN AWARD – Raced keen in the early stages.
 
Race 6: 5POINT PROJECTS MAIDEN HANDICAP         1100 M
 
DECISIVELY – Began awkwardly. Jockey E Chaves reported the mare resented the kickback today and would be better suited over a longer journey. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
SUZI QUATROSE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after getting down in the tie-up stalls. Shortly after the start, steadied from the heels of CAPTAIN ARTIE.
 
CAPTAIN ARTIE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Apprentice E. Lang was fined $500 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
NORTHWOOD POPPET – Bumped on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities apart from blood in the mouth.
 
STILETTOS – Began awkwardly and bumped with NORTHWOOD POPPET.
 
Race 7: DOVAL CONSTRUCTION GROUP BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP       1050 M
 
MY DOG DIESEL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ALL THE SHOPS – Late withdrawal at 8:40am as the gelding had an elevated temperature and swelling in its legs. Trainer J. Sweeney was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate prior to next racing.
 
FIFTY CARATS – Near the 900m, raced tight with its head up.
 
GRANDEUR ROSE – Raced wide throughout.
 
NAMID – Slow to muster early speed.
 
ZUMAIA – Near the 900m, eased when tightened between FIFTY CARATS and MY DOG DIESEL, which was laying in despite some efforts from apprentice S. Champkin. In the incident FIFTY CARATS raced tight with its head up. In all the circumstances, apprentice S. Champkin was severely reprimanded and told she must make a greater effort to protect her fellow riders in similar situations.
