Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 7: 11 VANA STAR – L. Miller +0.5kg (56.5kg)

Race 1:CORDNER TAX ADVISORY QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP  1050 M
 
CHAYSE 'N' RALPH – Shifted out to improve upon entering the home straight. Crowded near the 150m. After the race, it was noted the gelding had lost its near hind plate.
 
GENIUS BABY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight and as a result near the 150m, A ROYAL SORT was taken in momentarily crowding CHAYSE 'N' RALPH.
 
MISHANI HERCULES – Slow to begin. Shifted out near the 250m.
 
MISHANI TALENT – Began awkwardly. When laying in near the 250m, momentarily steadied from MISHANI HERCULES, which shifted out. As Jockey J. Huxtable was unable to make weight, he was replaced by rider L. Miller. Rider J. Huxtable was fined $200 pursuant to AR 190(3) for accepting a ride for which he was to be overweight.
 
A ROYAL SORT – Bumped on the hind quarters upon entering the home straight when CHAYSE 'N' RALPH shifted out to improve.
 
Race 2: WEALTH INSURANCE SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1900 M
 
VIADELAMORE (IRE) – After the race, it was noted the gelding had lost its off fore plate.
 
ZOOMURUDI – Slow to begin, lost significant ground and in the early stages was reluctant to keep contact with the field. Passing the 100m, raced in restricted room to the inside of WORD FROM ABOVE when that runner laid in under pressure.
 
WORD FROM ABOVE – Hampered at the start. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
IRENE'S BEST – Rider G. Guthmann-Chester stated the mare was not suited to the slow tempo of the event, however; when placed under pressure prior to straightening, the mare did not respond and raced flat. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
SAXON BRAVE – Shifted out abruptly at the start and hampered WORD FROM ABOVE. Raced three wide without cover from the 700m.
 
Race 3: GC PLUMBING SERVICES QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP      1200 M
 
OUTWITTED – Slow to begin.
 
EPIC FLASH – Rider J. Guthmann-Chester reported the gelding raced flat.
 
WHISKEY DANCER – Shifted in at the start. Rider B. Thornton dropped his whip approaching the 200m.
 
GREGARIOUS – Near the 900m, raced keenly for a short distance and restrained from the heels of VELVET. Raced wide for the majority.
 
SIRI SAY RUBICK – Slow to begin. Rider K. Zechner reported the filly was not suited to the synthetic surface.
 
SUNSHINE HIGHWAY – Slow to begin. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
VELVET – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 4: KITCHEN CABINET SPECIALIST MAIDEN HANDICAP         1200 M
 
ENLIGHTENING – Slow to begin.
 
YISHAY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to the gelding resuming racing after an extended break.
 
MEGHAN – Slow to begin. Raced wide.
 
KIDSTON – Bumped at the start and lost ground.
 
EXCEED TO AMBITION – Began awkwardly. Apprentice J. Williams reported the filly raced flat and may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer M. Wilson advised EXCEED TO AMBITION will now be spelled.
 
VIGANOTTO – Raced wide.
 
I AM AMAZES – Raced wide. Shifted in on jumping and bumped KIDSTON.
 
Race 5: CORDNER ADVISORY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE  1200 M
 
BRAVE COWBOY BILL – Shifted out and bumped TINY WONDER. Rider M. Hellyer reported the gelding laid out from the 600m.
 
HOLLYWOOD EPIC – Near the 900m, steadied from the heels of BRAVE COWBOY BILL (M. Hellyer), which shifted in when not fully clear. Rider M. Hellyer was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Rider J. Guthmann-Chester reported the colt raced ungenerously in the early stages and in the home straight laid in.
 
OPTIMUS MAXIMUS – Raced wide.
 
SMOKIN MATCH – Laid out from the 800m until upon entering the home straight.
 
TINY WONDER – Began awkwardly resulting in Apprentice M. Potgieter’s right shoulder contacting the inside barrier petition and becoming unbalanced. Bumped shortly thereafter when BRAVE COWBOY BILL shifted out.
 
FIREBOLT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MADAME MAI TAI – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide.
 
STELLAR TRIXIE – Slow to begin.
 
Race 6: CORPSURE INSURANCE BROKING MAIDEN HANDICAP   1540 M
 
The start of this race was delayed by approximately 5 minutes when the bridle of MEANASENKO snapped and had to be replaced. The start was further delayed after the gelding became very fractious in the barriers, refused to stand properly and was subsequently declared a late withdrawal at 2:25pm. Representative for trainer A. Campton was advised the gelding would be required to Officially trial prior to racing again.
 
On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on MEANASENKO to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st - BLUE AS BLUE (NZ) – 8c win, 9c place.
2nd - ALWAYS SPLIT TENS – 7c place.
3rd - TWILIGHT SPARKLE – 12c place.
 
JIVE TURKEY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover from the 600m. After the race, it was noted the gelding lost its off fore plate.
 
JOHN'S ROAD – Raced wide without cover from the 700m.
 
IDEELIC – Raced wide without cover from the 1300m. Rider A. Spinks reported the gelding laid out rounding the home turn and in the straight.
 
NO DOUBLE DIPPING – After the race, it was noted the gelding had lost its off-fore plate. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to its near hind consistent with being galloped on.
 
THE HIPPY – Shifted in at the start. Near the 50m, checked when tightened between JOHN'S ROAD (B. Thornton), which shifted in slightly and NO DOUBLE DIPPING (B. Ainsworth), which was improving to the inside and was awkward on the heels of IDEELIC (A. Spinks), which shifted out slightly. Riders B. Thornton and A. Spinks were advised they must endeavour to keep their mounts on a straight course at all times.
 
TWILIGHT SPARKLE – Rider M. Hellyer reported the filly laid out throughout.
 
Race 7: CORDNER SUPER ADVISORY BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP  1540 M
 
SARSEN – Began awkwardly. Near the 1350m, was checked when tightened between HOT BANANAS (B. Thornton), which shifted out slightly and HULKAMANIA (N. Callow), which shifted in slightly when racing tight to the inside of BREAKING GROUND (Apprentice S. Willis), which was attempting to cross at this point. Apprentice S. Willis was reminded she must give sufficient clearance when crossing other runners.
 
ELLE MAGIC – Began awkwardly resulting in Apprentice M. Castle’s left shoulder contacting the barrier petition and becoming unbalanced. Shortly thereafter, bumped heavily and lost ground. Approaching the 1400m, eased when tightened by DRAKE PASSAGE (NZ) (M. Cahill), which shifted in slightly. In all the circumstances, rider M. Cahill was reprimanded and advised he must leave sufficient racing room in similar circumstances.
 
THE SEEKER – Shifted in abruptly and heavily bumped ELLE MAGIC at the start.
 
CHAMPAGNES ON ME (NZ) – Raced wide.
 
VANA STAR – Raced wide.
 
BETTER STRINGS – Slow to begin.
 
Race 8: CORDNER PRIVATE ADVISORY BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP       1050 M
 
THE BILLIONAIRE – Began awkwardly, lost ground and shortly thereafter, bumped heavily by GHOST HUNTER.  
 
GET WHAT YOU GIVE – Slow to begin and the bumped. Passing the 300m, shifted out abruptly across heels to secure clear running.
 
COSMIC SERENADE – Raced wide.
 
GHOST HUNTER –Bumped at the start. Raced wide. Near the 900m, tightened for room between MERRY MAC BOY and COSMIC SERENADE (J. Huxtable), which shifted in. Rider J. Huxtable was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
 
MERRY MAC BOY – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped GHOST HUNTER.
 
SERIGALA – After the race, it was noted the mare had lost its near hind plate.
 
RONNY ROCK ART – Raced wide.
 
MONTANA LADY – Shifted in on jumping and bumped GET WHAT YOU GIVE.
 
Race 9: MEN MATTER GCTC JULY 20 CLASS 1 HANDICAP         1200 M
 
KNIGHT BATCHELOR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to the gelding resuming racing after an extended break. Bumped at the start.
 
MATTE BLACK – Shifted out at the start and bumped KNIGHT BATCHELOR.
 
HAMILTON BROWN – Slow to begin. Near the 1100m, shifted in and away from SINGULAR, bumped with RED SHIRAZ, carried that runner in towards STRONG MARTINI and was checked. YOUNY PIP, which was racing to the inside of RED SHIRZ was also checked. Apprentice J. Williams was notified whilst he was making some efforts to correct the gelding, he must make a greater effort in similar circumstances. Continued to lay in for the remainder of the event, particularly over the final 100m, resulting in Apprentice J Williams to stop riding and straighten the gelding. Trainer L. Freedman was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for its racing manners.
 
SHEER REWARD – Shifted out at the start and bumped CLAUDIUS. Raced wide.
 
STRONG MARTINI – Held up for a run from the 500m until approaching the 300m.
 
YOUNG PIP – Checked at the start.
 
RED SHIRAZ – Bumped and checked at the start.
 
CLAUDIUS – Bumped at the start and lost ground. Raced wide.
