SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT Gold Coast 8-6-24
 
Race 1: CORDNER TAX ADVISORY QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP  1050 M
CHAYSE 'N' RALPH –Trainer S. Morrisey reported the gelding was found the be significantly lame in the off foreleg in the ensuing days and will now be spelled. Mr. Morrissey was advised CHAYSE 'N' RALPH would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
 
GENERAL
 
Ben Hull was severely reprimanded under AR101(1) for failing to gain consent from Stewards to have ALL’S FAIR, trained by him and engaged in Race 5, stabled at a location other than his registered stable address.
 
When questioned in relation to Exceed to Ambition racing today following its poor performance at the Gold Coast on 8th June 2024, after Stewards were advised and reported the filly would be spelled, Trainer M. Wilson stated the filly had pulled up well from the run. He said the performance was out of character and his initial decision may have been somewhat hasty, so elected to again start the filly, with a view to making a proper assessment following today’s performance.  
 
Trainer D Hansen was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to declare M Cahill as the rider of READY TO MINGLE in Race 3 by the prescribed time.
 
Race 1: MEN MATTER GCTC JULY 20 MAIDEN HANDICAP         2000 M
 
ALWAYS SPLIT TENS – After breaking away from the attendant in the mounting enclosure, galloped riderless to the tie up stalls, slipped, sustaining lacerations to the near hind leg and subsequently declared a late withdrawal at 12:27pm. On declaration of correct weight all bets on ALWAYS SPLIT TENS were ordered to be refunded and the following deductions to apply to all winning bets prior to 12:27pm:
 
1st: CRIMSON REWARD – 38c win, 28c place
2nd: CASSIE’S REWARD – 36c place
3rd: STILLETOS – n/a
 
Trainer P Robl was advised ALWAYS SPLIT TENS would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.  
 
 
HIMEJI – When racing keenly passing the winning post on the first occasion, steadied from the heels of MAH DRAGON (Andrew Spinks), which shifted in when not fully clear.  A Spinks was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. A short distance later, laid out badly rounding the turn out of the front straight and lost significant ground. Continued to race keenly and near the 1100m restrained from heels, shifted out and raced wide from that point. Trainer M Morrison was advised HIMEJI must Officially trial to the Stewards satisfaction prior to racing again. Mr Morrison indicated he would now consider removing the blinkers from the gear of HIMEJI.
 
MAH DRAGON – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
PIG IN THE CITY – On entering the mounting enclosure, kicked out and contacted a rail and underwent a veterinary examination. Began awkwardly. When racing keenly approaching the 1450m, steadied from the heels of CRIMSON REWARD.
 
CRIMSON REWARD – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer P Duncan was advised CRIMSON REWARD would be stood down for a period of 3 months pursuant to AR79(4) and must trial/jump out or gallop over 1000m to the Stewards satisfaction prior to racing again.
 
CASSIE'S GIRL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer D Groves was advised CASSIE’S GIRL would be stood down for a period of 3 months pursuant to AR79(4) and must trial/jump out or gallop over 1000m to the Stewards satisfaction prior to racing again.
 
 
 
Race 2: TAB WE'RE ON BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP         2000 M
 
NO MORE RED – Change of tactics, lead. From the wide barrier unable to muster early speed despite the efforts of rider J. Guthmann-Chester and settled in a rearward position. For a short distance passing the 800m raced wide without cover.
 
AIDEN – After racing keenly in the early stages,left a one wide position with cover near the 1400m, and progressed forward to lead the event from the 1100m.
 
SADDLES – Raced keenly when leading in the early stages of the event. Rider M Cahill reported whilst it was his intention to be in a forward position, with blinkers applied for the first time, the gelding raced very keenly and for this reason he allowed SADDLES to lead the event early before obtaining cover near the 1000m.
 
SEA TREASURES – Laid in under pressure from the 200m.
 
DRAKE PASSAGE – Raced wide for the majority.
 
DROPS FROM THE SKY – Slow to begin.
 
 
 
 
Race 3: LIFEFLIGHT LOTTERIES MAIDEN HANDICAP         1050 M
 
BREMERS – Raced wide throughout.
 
READY TO MINGLE – Raced wide throughout.
 
VIGANOTTO – Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn.
 
EXCEED TO AMBITION – Raced wide throughout.
 
STARSPANGLE PLANET – Raced keenly for a short distance near the 800m.
 
DOMINANCE – Laid out at various stages of the event.
 
 
 
Race 4: GIRLS ON TOUR JUNE 29 BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP         1200 M
 
GALAXY GENERAL – Jumped out at the start hampering ALMIGHTY RISING.
 
BRAVE WARRIOR – Jumped in at the start. Apprentice A Graham was fined $100 pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(i) for consecutive use of the whip on 4 occasions prior to 100m.
 
SILVER WARRIOR – Began awkwardly.
 
VETTA VELOCITA – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.Approaching the 200m obliged to shift to the inside of MIGHTY RISING to secure clear running.
 
ALMIGHTY RISING – Hampered at the start. Passing the 1000m raced keenly for a short distance.
 
TOOLATEMATE – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
 
 
Race 5: AMORINI - CELEBRATING 20 YEARS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1540 M
 
KERCHAK – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. Trainer B Ahrens was fined $100 pursuant to AR206(2) for failing to declare the horse racing with hoof filler in both hind legs.
 
EARLY THOUGHTS – Raced wide in the early stages before progressing forward to obtain the position outside the leader near the 1100m.
 
SUKHBIR – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
GENTLE PRINCE – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight and went to the end of the race without being tested.
 
PERNELL – Slow to begin.
 
JOVITA – Held up for clear running from near the 450m until approaching the 100m.
 
ALL'S FAIR – Raced keenly in the middle stages of the event.
 
 
 
Race 6: MEMBERS & MATES JUNE 29 MAIDEN PLATE      1540 M
 
BEAN SHAMELESS – Hampered at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
BETTER THAN LOVE – Reared on jumping and lost ground. Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn.
 
BOOM CRUSHER – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
SMOKIN MATCH – Began awkwardly.
 
SAND 'N' POWER – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously for a short distance near the 1200m when being restrained. Rider M Cahill could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance other than the gelding was somewhat field shy during various stages of the event.
 
ELSIE'S ADALYN – Jumped out at the start and hampered BEAN SHAMELESS.
 
GYPSY WHITE SOCKS – Caught wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 1100m.
 
HELLUVA SOIREE – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 7: THANK YOU GEOFF 'SNOW' ANDREWS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP       1050 M
 
MENSA MAESTRO – Apprentice S Willis pleaded to a charge under AR131(b) for failing to ride her mount out over the final 10 strides of the race. In assessing penalty, account was taken of her guilty plea, her status an apprentice and that her actions had cost her mount 5th place. Apprentice Willis was fined $500.
 
TARGETED – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
 
PEPERONCINO – Slow to begin.
 
CAPTAIN ARTIE – Raced wide for the majority.
 
LES GIRLS – Momentarily steadied approaching the 100m when MAGURO shifted in under riding before being corrected.
