QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT GOLD COAST TURF CLUB SATURDAY 22ND JUNE 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Synthetic RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – B Wright (Chair), K Daly, S Fletcher, D McMahon, S Borg (Cadet) SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT Gatton Thursday 20th June 2024:LION’S PRIDE (Race 4) – Trainer C. Munce reported that the gelding had pulled up well following the disappointing performance and he would continue on with the current racing program.SMILING ZAC (NZ) (Race 5) – Trainer M. Currie reported that the gelding has been sent out briefly to spell after being galloped on and will then return to the stable to continue racing. GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweights at today’s meeting:Race 6: BLUESTONE LANE – K Matheson 55kg (+0.5kg) Race 1: MITEK QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1050 M SIDLED – Carried wider approaching the 400m when SUJEED shifted out to improve. SUJEED – Slow to begin. MISHANI VOLTAGE – Slow to begin. PARTY ISLAND – A short distance after the start commenced to buck, shifted out abruptly dislodging Apprentice J Williams and galloped riderless behind the field. Trainer H Page was advised PARTY ISLAND must Officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next race start. Apprentice J Williams was examined by QAS staff and cleared to fulfill his remaining engagements. SHEHUNGTHEMOON – Rider D Smith reported the filly travelled comfortably during the race and would be better suited in races over a longer distance.A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 2: DINDAS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 M PROCYON MISS – After being loaded into the barriers, became fractious, was then cast for some time, and subsequently declared a late withdrawal at 1:11pm on veterinary advice. All other runners were unloaded and reloaded following the incident. On declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on PROCYON MISS refunded in full and the following deductions to apply: 1st FIVE STAR VIXEN – 21c win, 17c place2nd WHISKEY DANCER – 19c place3rd MISS SHU – n/a Representative for trainer T Edmonds was advised PROCYON MISS must Officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next race start. CORDOZAR – Slow to begin. JACK'S BOOM – Began awkwardly, caught three wide in the early stages when racing keenly, before being taken wider passing the 500m when MIXED SPICE shifted out improve. Race 3: HUME DOORS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1050 M HER EXPENSE – Slow to begin. Rider N Callow reported the gelding hung out from the 600m. FIRST PERSON – Began awkwardly. Rider J Guthmann-Chester reported the filly travelled comfortably during the race, however; when placed under pressure in the home straight, did not respond to his riding, which he attributed to the addition of earmuffs for the first time today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. WARRIOR JACK – On arrival at the barriers, the cross over noseband on the horse was refitted. Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have blood at both nostrils for the first time. Trainer G Prendergast was advised WARRIOR JACK must not start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after; (i) a gallop of at least 1000 metres; or (ii) an Official Trial or Jump Out, in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward. CAPTAIN ARTIE – Reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Trainer T Churchill was advised the gelding must Officially trial satisfactorily prior to racing again. Ms Churchill indicated CAPTAIN ARTIE would now be leaving the stable. Race 4: HYNE TIMBER MAIDEN HANDICAP 1540 M ALL ABOUT ARTIE – Jumped out at the start and bumped SUPIDOCHARGED. KAREEM – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SPIRIT OF HEATH. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Caught wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 900m. SPIRIT OF HEATH – Bumped at the start. Passing the 300m, steadied and shifted out to obtain clear running, however; was unable to do so when TWILIGHT SPARLKLE shifted in and consequently, was again obliged to steady. KIDSTON – Rider C Collis reported the gelding raced keen and wide for the majority of the event and failed to finish the race off. He added he had recommended to connections to remove the blinkers from the gelding’s gear. DELIBES – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Passing the 1400m, steadied when racing in restricted room between MIANDA and KIDSTON, which had improved quickly to the inside of JOHN’S ROAD. SUPIDOCHARGED – Bumped at the start. Race 5: VANTAGE WINDOWS & DOORS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP +1540 M TAKUNAI – Raced wide for the majority of the event. SARSEN – Began awkwardly. In the early stages of the home straight laid in and near the 150m momentarily steadied and shifted to the inside of HULKAMANIA to have clear running. MISTER HEMSWORTH – Bumped with PAULI at the start. BIRMINGHAM – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. GREGARIOUS – Raced wide for the majority of the event. When asked about the tactics adopted when racing in a more forward position, Apprentice C Sutherland said with winkers on for the first time, he was asked to be more positive at the start and after being caught wide in the early stages from the wide barrier, he allowed GREGARIOUS to stride. MARIPOSA – Raced wide for the majority of the event. PAULI – Bumped with MISTER HEMSWORTH at the start. MIDNIGHT BOOM – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Race 6: WESBEAM WINTER SPRINTERS SERIES - HEAT - BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1200 M RALPHIE – Change of tactics, to be ridden further forward. After being slow to begin settled in a midfield position. Crowded for room, carried in and raced in restricted room near 1000m when MILL ROSSA (App C Sutherland) shifted in before being corrected. Apprentice C Sutherland was notified to exercise more care in similar circumstances. MAGNETIC – Jumped in at the start, bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. Passing the 1000m steadied from the heels of THE BILLIONAIRE. BANDIT – Raced in restricted room near the 1000m and steadied. TANKER – Raced wide for the majority of the event.Rider M Palmer was dislodged on pulling up. As M Palmer was unable to weigh in in a timely manner correct weight was declared under the provisions of AR208(3)(b). A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. BLUESTONE LANE – Bumped at the start when MAGNETIC jumped in. Race 7: EZEQUOTE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 M RAOUL – Slow to begin. SERIGALA – Change of tactics, attempt to settle further back. Settled in a midfield position. Passing 1000m shifted in and steadied from the heels of SINGULAR. FENTON – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have blood at both nostrils for the first time. Trainer I Turner was advised FENTON must not start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after; (i) a gallop of at least 1000 metres; or (ii) an Official Trial or Jump Out, in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward. SINGULAR – Passing the 900m steadied when crowded for room by AIRSTRIKE (M Wishart), which shifted in. Rider M Wishart wasnotified to exercise more care in similar circumstances.Raced wide for the majority of the event. Apprentice J Williams reported the gelding did not travel comfortably when racing wide, adding SINGULAR was not suited by todays drop back in distance and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A sample was taken for analysis. MISTER MONARO – Jumped out at the start. Blundered on pulling up, resulting in rider J Taylor being dislodged. As J Taylor was unable to weigh in in a timely manner correct weight was declared under the provisions of AR208(3)(b). J Taylor was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to his next race or trial ride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed signs of lameness in the off foreleg. Trainer J Cameron was advised MISTER MONARO will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. Ms Cameron indicated the gelding would now be retired from racing.
